First of all, they helped her understand her need for that level of care. That was an accomplishment in itself! Then, for over a year, they sent a nurse 3 times a week, numerous pharmaceutical, medical, and personal supplies by special delivery, and fielded questions and concerns by phone. We loved her main nurse, Shirley, who was the epitome of caring and patience! We also appreciated the truthful, yet diplomatic, evaluation of my mom's condition by her and all staff. I would say that sometimes supply orders seemed to be overlooked at first, but then when I called, the staff bent over backwards to see that the provisions got to us. All in all, I'm very grateful to Comfort Hospice Care for supporting us through that very difficult season of life!

The nurses didn't provide any guidelines in terms of what to expect, look out for or anything along those lines. My mom ended up passing away the day we started hospice. I fear we would have been better off on our own.

The social worker never met my sister until the day we were having a meeting. at that point my sister was zoned out on morphine her cancer pains HAD NOT EVEN STARTED. I'm still trying to find out why they had her on morphine when she was not in pain. I talked to the Roze Room nurse on our second meeting two days later. All he would tell me about was his wife's cancer. He kept saying my sister was on comfort care. the comfort care that they gave my sister was morphine. She went from the point of eating food to being on baby food within the month that they had her. She was so drugged up she was not eating for days at a time. She died a month after she was drugged up due to her body shutting down due to lack of nutrients. (In my opinion) She had a prognosis of six months to a year. She was not eating because she was on morphine and drugged. If you put your family member on Hospice, make sure it is once they are truly needing the Hospice due to pain. Learn from my mistake.

After 3 long pages provided from a hospitals case manager, I narrowed it down to 5 that I had the patience to tour and interview in person. That's a lot to go to!! From there, I boiled it down to 2 places, West Valley and another on Devonshire was my backup. I am VERY pleased that after all that due diligence, I found out a friend that recommended this West Valley Post Acute center, without even knowing I had already chosen it as the winner. My detailed research and personal referral from someone else who had experience here made me feel even more at ease to place my Dad here. My Dad was released from this place last year and has been in our family's care at home. But after a recent hospital incident, a year later, my family had to put him back in rehab, per the doctors recommendation. Of coarse we had to have him back here and only here! Luckily, there was room for him. I was even able to request an amazing CNA named Sofia to be assigned to him again. All the nurses, doctors and entire staff are great, but we felt really comfortable with Sofia and grateful to have my dad assigned to her station. Overall, it's not easy to put your loved one in a care center.... even for short-term. But if you have to, then trust me this is the right place. If it wasn't then I wouldn't consider him back in the same place.... And I feel at ease to have him back in the same care that we trusted.

I would go there around 5pm when it was their dinner time. Feed her, try to talk to her and spend one on one time with her.She had Alzheimer's disease. I believe they have 4 different buildings and plenty of parking spaces along with clean restrooms. This facility was established back in 1912 and still serves their patients, families of the patients with pride, dignity, and kindness. They have over 6,000 seniors every year entering this facility. They even have a nice garden. They provide care for home, in their community and on premises/campuses. Nurses and other staff members are very sweet, kind, caring, professional and HELPFUL!! They don't just treat you as a number; but as a human. Recently few days ago I willingly wanted to go see one of my friend's mom who is in this care center. She has dementia. I told her that I would be going there and she met me there. Place is spotless clean, they come and change the bed sheets pretty frequently, take you for a walk, help you to take your medications, and do their best for everyone to feel welcomed, safe and a good place to be at! He was neglected and left alone in his room crying out in pain and no one bothered to check on him. It was truly horrifying and unbelievable. Our family was so grateful to find West Valley Subacute Care. The entire rehab staff has gone above and beyond to help my father regain the skills necessary for him to safely return home. They have been kind, caring and patient throughout his stay and we have observed extraordinary progress over the last few months. Everyone from the front office admin staff to the nursing staff to the social workers care genuinely about their patients. They are one of my favorite facilities to work with in the community. Several visits I had, I would watched the nurses care and service their patients during my assessments. I was very impressed with their patiences and ease. When a patient has dementia, they can get frustrated and yell and the nurses were so amazing at re-directing and helping the patient calm down. From my knowledge, the nursing staff have been at the facility for 10 years+. All nurses are trained on high acuity patients, including dementia. I've worked with Bridgitte, social services and she has been great at coordinating placement assessments quickly and efficiently. I am able to visit several patients at one time and even jump on a call to talk to families of potential assisted livings. We have been able to help patients move to new beginnings in a more home like setting and out of a hospital atmosphere. I highly recommend Stoney Point for families that need a secured facility for their loved ones. The care is excellent, the facility is clean and well maintained. The nurses have compassion and care for each patient there. Maria the Admissions Director, can answer all your questions and is always available to help anytime. She has a big heart and loves all her patients. I know 3 years ago, a new management company took over and there has been so many great changes. I Just wanted to share my experience working with Stoney Point from an outside perspective. I do recommend touring the nursing home when looking for a loved one and seeing it for your own eyes.

Whenever I saw him he was wearing someone elses clothes. He woke up one day to see a resident going through his roommates pockets. My husband went there to transition from the hospital to home.
