Rude and lazy staff. Called for info and I I I was told person was not buried there according to their records. I visit the grave which has a headstone every year! They don't return calls, grounds are unkempt. Bad enough that it's an industrial neighborhood , place just looks depressing. Just wish the staff could be a bit more empathetic. read more

I contacted Rosedal-Rosehill to bury Mom's cremated remains next to my father. The plots were purchased years ago and he was buried in 1992. I have endured nothing but a runaround from Litania in trying to arrange burial for the wife of a decorated (Bronze Star and Purple Heart) veteran. She directed me to complete forms which she did not know how to complete! It's been a horrible experience while I am dealing with the grief of mom's passing and arrangements still not finalized to bury her. read more

The place has a look and feel of an older cemetery. One of the headstones I was looking for is below the ground level, so it gets covered in dirt every time I get there (difficult to find). I wish it stood proud a quarter inch even. The mausoleum area is nice and easier to navigate for me. There is also thee Mercedes statue there, which is amazing to see. 7 months after my mothers death the plot still looks like it was buried yesterday. I totally understand having to place more dirt due to soil breaking down but do it correctly so it's presentable when family visits. I had to go to the office to fill out a sheet for the plot to be maintenance. They weren't even aware that the company came to fix the headstone and that it was no longer at the plot. The lady in the office is reading off the computer when I'm clearly stating no other grave next to my mother has been dug up and it's unacceptable no one has came to rectify this situation. Im trying to find more info on my maternal grandmother who died in 1939. Thanks to Find A Grave, i was able to locate the gravesite. My problem lies with the office. Usually they have info like spouse, cause of death, last address, where death occurred, etc...Well, the office staff said the name i gave her wasnt in the system! I said "could it be because it was so long ago?" She herself said, "Oh no! We have graves going back to 1900!" We went to the gravesite, we found the headstone without much trouble, took a picture and went back to the office. They said email the pictures to us, and we'll get back to you on Tuesday. On Wednesday we called to follow up, they gave us a bunch of gobblygook about being 'so busy because its close to mothers day'...and of course, no answer...oh and not to mention there was a lot of waste all around from various different animals... read more

These people has claimed my mother is not buried in Rosehill cemetery as stated on her death certificate. I have been reaching out to them for years and to this day I have no information. I went to the funeral location in Brooklyn, they told me they don't have any records of my mom's burial information and they are not obligated to keep records past a certain amount of years.I really don't understand how they are not able to provide me any information for her burial as stated on her death certificate. I have contact the funeral home in Brooklyn, B.j Lowry Jr who signed the death certificate and comfirm Rosehill cementary in Linden NJ is where she was layed to rest. This cemetery is very beautiful, I know you ask a cemetery is beautiful??? Yes beautiful trees, landscaping plus incredible scenery. The main information center is great plus the staff is incredibly helpful, welcoming and warm. I went to visit my Dad, we cleaned his headstone, we made it Sparkle and Shine. Then we put a little music, started decorating for Easter and then Sophie asked isn't this disrespectful should we not be sad and crying? I responded no Sophie we celebrate great grandpa life and who he is. Sophie said Yay! That's so cool, we danced and made it all pretty. Sophie said I finally got to meet you great grandpa. I lost my Dad when he was 42 years young to kidney failure, he brought me up to be a strong independent most fabulous woman, he taught me to read by the age of three, gave the ultimate confidence of who I am, thank you Dad! read more

Rosedale doesn't pick up the phone , respond to voicemails or ema even there's a completed form that's time sensitive. Rosedale Cemetery doesn't post the prices on the webite, making services inaccessible to people in need of organizing end of life ( prenee) or worse yet survivors. Does that mean their prices fluctuate by race, creed etc. a type of redlining process mayb. I finally was in touch with P. Ryan after many attempts & I sent the required forms to his email, after 5 days of no response I called him, he claimed not remember our conversation ( probably doesn't document he couldn't locate forms, gave me another generic email to resend everythin. I came all the way from the Bronx to visit a departed loved one and to place flowers on their grave only to experience more grief. I understand that you have to wait sometime to receive a headstone on a person's grave but there was no Id number plate on the ground for the grave I was visiting. I was given a map and the info I needed. I called over a worker to help me cause there was no Id number plate and they still didn't even know where he was. His response was "Maybe he's here!" pointing to a patch of dirt with another Id number plate. I had to leave flowers on a grave I nor them was sure was him. It's disgusting how unorganized this place is and it doesn't look cared for. I took pictures of Id number plates right on top of eachother. How could Id number 419 be right near 440 I ask you??? My family has been doing business with this cemetery since 1959, and we have had to use this cemetery recently due to a Covid-19 death in the family. I give kudos to Ruth in the administrative office for all of her help during this time. For me to be able to call from Texas and conduct business over the telephone with her, and get things done, speaks volumes for this cemetery. Ruth was very courteous and helpful with explaining what all of my purchasing options were. I see some negative reviews, but they seem to be the emotional versus logical type of complaints. The website and brochure that is online explains things pretty clearly. When I called Ruth, I had my questions written down in an understandable way. I also submitted an e-mail with a question, and received a reply the next morning. I have no reservations in recommending this business to family and friends. read more

We planted this tree when my father was buried in 1985. This tree had a lot of meaning to us. It grew beautiful. 32 years later the cemetery decided to cut the tree down. When asked why? They said it was getting too big, but there is trees 2 or 3 times bigger. Sounds like somebody wanted a free Christmas tree on our emotional expense. Very sad! read more

Taking a extra star off. The only thing this place has going for it is the price, which is cheaper than most cemeteries. Groundskeeping staff are VERY unfriendly. I waved to two of them to express my appreciation for taking care of my loved one and they were very cold. The amount of DISRESPECT I felt today after visiting my deceased mother's grave only a month after her passing... I paid $35 to the cemetery for FLOWERS and when I arrived all I saw was a bunch of $5 ARTIFICIAL DIRTY ass flowers.. I paid them a $10 money order to have her name posted by her grave... The sign was on ANOTHER GRAVE and written on effin paper that anyone could have been done for .25 cents. I get people become desensitized to their jobs but this was an effin joke... read more

Horrible experience with front desk . Rude, disrespectful and racist to the funeral directors. They threaten not to bury loved ones. They are in the wrong business because they think they have power because you are grieving and want to see your loved ones buried. They have no empathy or compassion for the family members. They are lazy and do not answer the phone. They make the loved ones repeatedly contact the funeral homes because they are too lazy to call them. They also make it difficult for the funeral homes and the monument people. How they treat people during their time of grief is unacceptable, rude, racist, and disrespectful. They need human relations training . They took something that was already bad and made it much worse. They have outward contempt for their clientele. They are mean and try to put you through changes. Leaves all over grave, dirty ,and deers running all over pooping on graves. They really upset families for no reason. They have a reputation for being rude and take pride in it. No supervision apparently. They are negligent and unprofessional. Highly aggravating experience. Consult your lawyer or the press if need be. read more

Last year in Jan of 2020, my family buried my Grandmother at Rosehill/Rosedale. More recently in August of 2021, my family buried my Uncle. Both experiences with this cemetery were nightmares. Do NOT bury your loved ones here. The management and staff, especially Kathy at the front office and Latonya who identified herself as a Supervisor were absolutely awful. Both of them threatened to turn away the funeral procession multiple times while we we were working on finalizing burial details with them. How can you even say something like this to a grieving family? My family had already purchased burial plots in advance so we had no choice but to deal with their abuse but if we were not in a pickle we would NEVER bury our loved ones here. I have never posted a Yelp review before but I am hoping sharing this will help others avoid the painful experience my family and I had to endure. I called to inquire how I can place a Tombstone on my best friends plot at Rosehill Cemetery and spoke with a very rude, companion less receptionist who told me I could not place a tombstone on her plot without the owner of the plots consent. With every question I asked just trying to understand if there is a height/ weight restriction, etc she seemed complete bothered by me. Why would anyone deal with someone who is obviously grieving the loss of a loved one and who wants to memorialize her? I understand there are rules, if I'm inquiring about the rules it's because I DON'T KNOW THEM. Not an apology, not a sign of compassion. Not an I'm sorry for your loss. Not an I'm sorry I wasn't of any help to you. Note to this very rude receptionist- You are in a business where people you are speaking with are grieving a loss. Maybe you should change your job? My father is buried here, we recently went to place flowers on his grave and I was EXTREMELY taken back. When he was buried it was clean and spacious, I understand ppl want to leave memorabilia for their loved ones but MY GOODNESS! This place looks like a dumping ground. Fake flowers, wreaths, bears, statues.....Just a MESS! Many cemeteries dont allow that sort of stuff because it makes it difficult for staff to clean, mow and maintain the grounds. I asked a ground keeper to point me where a certain section was, he seemed so bothered as if I had asked him to walk me there. He rolled his eyes, sighed, and shook his head. Also, what is it with tree planting by headstones???? How do they allow it, the stones are so close together, there's NO room for these eminence things.
