The room is very comfortable, and the massage table *extremely* comfortable--almost like sinking into a down bed! I liked (Lisa) the masseuse immediately, and she did a great job of setting the mood and the expectations for the massage. At the beginning there were some general forms and questions which we talked through to give her an idea of my needs. After that, Lisa was very frank about her massage style (which is more massage for relaxation than therapy). She even referred me to a therapeutic massage practice where I could get more targeted massage for joint/muscle treatment. The massage turned out to be gentler than I typically look for, but it was remarkably relaxing, and I highly recommend Lisa and Chelmsford Massage if you are looking for relaxation therapy. By the end of the massage I was glad to have come, and felt the price was quite reasonable for the treatment I received.

The first time I emailed the email address listed on the website Ellen responded via text pretty soon afterwards. Since then, I communicate with her via text to schedule appointments and she can usually fit me in her schedule within a couple of days. The place is a set of tiny rooms in a building of businesses but works. Ellen has magic hands. She is able to suss out my problem areas during the sessions and let's me know even when I'm feeling it but haven't quite figured out the issues yet. There is no privacy, anyone going through the main lobby can see in the room as the masseuse goes in and out while you lie there naked under a sheet. It's loud, you can hear the bass from the workout area during the massage. There is a single massage table which seemed more like a home version than something a professional would use. It was cold, since it was 20 degrees out and the table is not heated and the blanket is paper thin. An iPod played soft music but cut out prior to the end of each track - I was half expecting to hear commercials. That's the setting. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment and a gentleman at a folding table said my masseuse would be right with me. Then he disappeared. And I sat there waiting for 30 minutes. THIRTY MINUTES ! My masseuse appeared out of the room (and I could clearly see her previous client in there on the table) and said she'd be right with me. She settled up with the guy in the room once he got dressed, changed the sheets, and asked me inside. This was 25 minutes later than my scheduled appointment and no apology was offered. I mentioned I was there for relaxation and was given more deep tissue work than anything else. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Needless to say I would not go back, not for full price, not for Groupon price. It was not a relaxing environment nor a relaxing massage.
