This preschool here is amazing!! We went for preK 4 and had the best experience! I wish they would have run a Kindergarten class too!

My son had been physically and verbally assaulted by four older campers during lunchtime. They hit him and told him that he didn't belong there. Camp directors didn't write any reports. I am questioning what the outcome would have been if my child had not disclosed the incident to me. I expected my children to be in a safe and nurturing environment, where they could enjoy their summer activities and make new friends. Instead, they were exposed to violence from campers and neglect from Camp directors. read more

We LOVE Rosen JCC. We got involved through 'The J's' poker league several years ago, and while that's where we continue to be most acquainted, there is an endless list of things to learn and do at Rosen JCC. If you play poker, this league is perfect. Usually a 6-week point based tournament, leading to a final table with great prizes. Don't know how to play? NO PROBLEM, seasoned players will help you learn the game and better yet, useful strategies to help build your best game. Your poker registration helps fund and build the amazing [and continuously growing!] number of programs offered from early childhood to seniors. If you can imagine it, there's more than likely a group or class that fits. Cooking, fitness, adult and youth sports leagues, and yes POKER! The latest addition to JCC is a beautiful multi-purpose auditorium, actually more like a performing arts center! Which has and will continue to be a stage to the many talent based groups available to enroll in. OH! I forgot the gym and fitness trainers! EXCELLENT! People of ALL FAITHS [I am Methodist], AGES [I'm not young or old], ABILITIES [I have no talent-but there's a class for me!] and INTERESTS, etc are welcomed at Rosen JCC. It's just such a great feeling to see and be part of the beautiful fusion of people enjoying things that bring knowledge and enjoyment. We look forward to the special events Rosen JCC offers on a regular basis. Some include Broadway Style shows, special Poker tournaments, 'TASTE OF THE J' [a must!] and more. When we are at Rosen JCC, we feel that we are with family. Caring staff, the fun, what can I add? It's just a fantastic place to be and feel welcome. From the first sight Rosen JCC is a cool place to be for younger ones, but wait till the vision of "the inside kitchen" coming. For being a parent of a former student of ECLC at Rosen JCC for over a year here the list of the things to pay attention for: 1. The order. No professional crew was seen on the site for the entire period of attandance. The changing table in the room was cleaned by myself several times. Restrooms are so dusty. 2. Carriculum. It is very impressive and good looking, but if there is a free time for stop by and take a glance what is going on, be prepared to see something different from the list which is outside of the door. 3. Problem Solving. It was mentioned a couple times to the director of the ECLC about all listed above and only promises and ways to jump out clear from the conversation are used. 4. Attitude. This point belongs to everyone in Rosen JCC. There are people like sunshine: very helpful and nice, but there are some who is going to be very unprofessional, unwilling to accept and take a look at the problem from different perspective and trying to make themself clear and crispy like nothing happened. 5. Disclosure of information. This is may happen in the conversation with the director and staff who are going to be very open and will talk the names by giving an example of the situation or similar scenario, so watch out! read more

I love the JCC! I love working here, I love going to events held here, I love my kids excitement every time I tell them they have a new class or activity. My entire family (10 yo to 70 yo) enjoys the programming and atmosphere. We're not Jewish and we don't live in the immediate area and I'll still drive here on days off to be surround by somewhere that feels like home! read more

My kids attended the Orlando Magic summer camp here for a week. They enjoyed it. The entrance process into the facility is truly my only complaint. Seems like quite the cluster. On the first day, we followed the signs to the entrance and used the door clearly labeled "enter". The lady behind the desk said that we didn't need to sign in because we were with the MAGIC Camp and not the JCC camp. She buzzed us through the front door and waved us on. The following three days (Tues, Wed, Thurs) someone was at the automatic exit door, holding it open, ushering campers to enter that way. Today, on Friday, I used the same exit door again and I was spoken to a bit sternly by the lady at the front desk saying I needed to sign in. I was a bit embarrassed because it is never my intention not to follow the rules. They just need to get their process down. A consistent message needs to be given on the entrance / drop off process to avoid confusion. Other then that, my boys enjoyed the camp and had lots of fun. read more

The Early Childhood Learning Center at the JCC is top-notch. I couldn't ask for a better place to leave my son while I work. His teachers are fantastic day in and day out, and he is not an easy child! His growth and development since attending the ECLC is astounding. People often assume he's at least a year older than he is because of his ability to count, recognize shapes and colors, and his verbal development. I definitely attribute these strides to attending the JCC. The Center also has a great fitness center, with the newest treadmills and ellipticals. They offer a great variety of fitness classes so it's difficult to get bored with your fitness routine. Then there is the great family programming they offer that you can't find elsewhere - things like their annual Winter Festival with rides, entertainment, food and even real snow! SNOW! IN FLORIDA! I also like that the membership rates are competitive and are even less than the Y. read more

Director of Early Childhood Dr Phyllis Bochman is a very fishy lady. Every time you are coming to her office with 1 question and leaving with 10 more questions. She talks a lot with you about other parents or stuff members and it's obvious that later she is talking with them about you . I think she is very unprofessional. read more

My children have been attending the JCC since January of 2011. My son did 3 years of preschool there. His teachers were amazing! He was so well prepared for kindergarten that he already knows all the things the other children are being taught. His teachers were warm, kind, understanding of his challenges and energetic. He was always bringing home cute art projects. One of my favorite parts about the school was the security. In order to access the building, you need to be checked in by the front desk staff. Either you show your key tag or sign in. THEN you are issued another key fob that only accesses the pre-school so no one can go down the hallway without permission. Both of my kids attended summer camp there too. It's over-the-top fun! The go on awesome field trips every week. Both of my kids wanted to leave the house early to get there and wanted me to pick them up later. They are always asking to stay 5 more minutes. The counselors were so good I snagged one as my babysitter too! Now that school is back in session, they are attending JU. It's great because they get picked up at school and brought back to the JCC. Once they arrive, they are fed a snack and the counselors help with homework. It's rare that they come home with work still needing to be done, which is so nice when you're trying to feed everyone. I would recommend the programs there to everyone! The preschool is the cleanest of the programs I toured. The snacks are healthy. The building is new and shiny. My almost 2 year old has participated in the Early Childhood Learning Center since he was about 3 months. He LOVES going to school everyday. He smiles when he sees his teachers and friends. I love the interaction between the children and teachers. They teach them teh basics - he is currently learning colors and all the holidays, he knows some sign language. I am excited when he can tell me a new word that helps with what he wants (I can't wait to understand everything he says!) His loves for books, art and music makes me smile! He loves to read, dance and listen to music. He comes home with some many beautiful creations. I love knowing that my baby boy is in a safe, warm, friendly environment when I am at work each day! I have lived in South Orlando for 15 years and it wasn't until the JCC opened on Apopka-Vineland that I can honestly say my family has a place we feel is a true community. My ten year old daughter has been going to their after school program, J University, since the day it opened. As a working mom, it is so convenient that they pick her up from Sand Lake Elementary. And, I know she is well taken care of with a low teacher to student ratio. She has met new friends she would not meet because they go to other schools, she does all her homework, and has been learning great leadership skills. An added benefit is that she can do karate or dance or be in a play when she participates in their extra curricular activities. I can't be there to drive her to practices, but as long as she is at the J already, she can enjoy these things because they are all under the same roof. PLUS - all the days that school is out, she can go to the J and hang out with her friends all day and it is INCLUDED in the price. I recommend the JCC very highly. It does not matter what religious affiliation you are. That is not their focus. Their focus is fun, safety, learning and creating bonds that I am sure will last a lifetime. And, there is stuff for the adults too. My boyfriend plays basketball there and we both go to the fitness center. It is great to be in a smaller environment where you are never fighting for equiptment. And the equiptment is well taken care of because it feels like we own it vs. just a member like the other gyms we have belonged to. They do lots of cool events so we have met lots of people and have made some great new friendships of our own. Come check out the J (as we like to call it). We hope to see ya there! read more

My family and I have been here several times and we have to say it's truly a diamond in the rough. We were members of the YMCA for a while but feel more comfortable at the JCC. They seem to have more activities for adults and stuff like camps and theater for the kids. Looking forward to coming back read more

The JCC has everything for everyone all under one roof!! They have an award winning preschool, with top notch, educated & caring teachers. They have an amazing after school program, called J University (or JU for short), picking up at Bay Meadows, Dr. Phillips, Palm Lake, Sand Lake, Metrowest, Windermere, Thornbrook, Keenes Crossing and Windy Ridge. They have amazing teachers who supervise the children doing their homework and a computer lab. The JCC offers tons of afterschool enrichment classes, including sports - basketball, soccer, karate, cheer. Then, the JCC offers this gem of a Musical Theatre program called Theatre South run by Hillary Brook. Each year they do a fabulous production (this year it's called Enchanted Broadway featuring songs from Shrek the Musical, Enchanted and Tangled). Theatre South also offers private lessons in voice, piano and drumming (by a real Blue Man!) On top of all this, they run adult sports leagues in basketball, volleyball and even a weekly Poker League! The JCC is also one of the best kept secrets for your fitness and health/wellness needs. They have a gorgeous brand new Fitness Center, with cardio machines with flat screen TV"s - and it's not crowded like the Y...so there is no wait for a machine! Most of their members came from the Y, after having to wait too long to work out! Their group exercise classes are the best - including ZUMBA, Boot Camp, Yoga. If it's personal training you are looking for...ask for Dora or Pat. They even have Meditation and Belly Dance clases!! The JCC's summer camp is the best deal around - they take the kids on amazing field trips to the big theme parks, offer sports and arts as part of their camp...plus some great specialty camps in basketball or theater too!To top it off - they offer FREE adult enrichment classes such as bridge, mahjongg, computers, arts and cooking classes (such as sushi making) that are INCLUDED in your membership. It is hands down the deal of the century with all that they offer in their low membership fee. Ask for Lorri, the Membership Director - she is always so nice and friendly when you come in.
