Libra ended up being my daughters dorm for her first year at UCF. I was pleasantly surprised by how…read morenice the dorms ended up being. The UCF campus is very picturesque and the areas around the dorm receive the same care in landscaping. Parking is hit or miss here. It's best if you can get in the lot right next to the dorm. If it's full however you will be stck parking at the garage some distance away. Libra is composed of six residence halls and is reserved for first year students. Rooms are either L shaped or pod style. My daughter was in Flagler Hall which had the pod style meaning each floor had a shared community room with couches, tables, and chairs. Her dorm had two girls per bedroom and the two bedrooms shared a bathroom in the middle of the two rooms. My daughter was on the third floor and the elevator was kind of slow. Guys have their own rooms on the same floor as the girls. I was pleased with the security of the building. There are no cooking facilities in the dorm rooms bu Libra has a community center with a TV, common room, and a kitchen. I once cooked a meal there and if you are cooking in the kitchen it's a good way to meet people because everyone will wander by to see what you are whipping up. I know my daughter really enjoyed her time in the dorm. She loved her room and all of the friends she met. There was always someone to hang out with. She has opted to live off campus next year but I know her time in Libra is something she will always treasure.

It's got a great selection of kids books and access to virtual learning resources. The kids area is small but perfect. They have a sign that only adults with kids are to be there which I like for safety reasons. They do have other areas for seating inside and computers available. The outside is charming with rocking chairs perfect to sit and read on a nice day out.

The trail and surrounding area are well-kept, and there are usually other people out walking, which makes it feel safe. There is plenty of parking by a newly redone fishing dock, plus plenty of wildlife--birds, rabbits, turtles, and dogs. The lake view is beautiful and makes the whole experience even better. Definitely part of my daily routine.....

They offer voting during elections, youth basketball, Friday night basketball, cooking classes and signups for all things throughout the year for different sports for your children. I came here for summer camp, but my son comes here for youth basketball. He loves it. I love it and everyone is so nice! Especially Jarvis - he's like the head honcho when it comes to youth basketball. Tip: if you have a child who is the age of 12 to 17 they offer Friday night basketball from 7:30-9 for FREE.

The staff is efficient with quick check in check out they have a great computer section with awesome games for the children. The only reason this isn't five stars is the book collection is very very limited especially foreign language books. Also the in person class offered for younger children and lower elementary children is also very sparse even before Covid. However these shortcomings may simply be due to less people patronizing this branch compared to the downtown branch. It does seem to have a lot less people coming in and the classes they do offer always seem to not be super super well attended. I'm guessing that's just because of the location. They do seem to do everything possible to make it a wonderful library experience and provide value to community without any additional cost for example the staff getting to know their patrons and going out of their way to remember of what type of books the children like and guide the children to those books.
