Cleanliness is always surprisingly upstanding for such a well-frequented club. It's almost as if the patrons feel the need to clean up after themselves because of how immaculate this place is. Seriously though, 5* for cleanliness. The staff is always willing to help and welcoming. Don't expect too much dialogue with them, though, as they're here to facilitate your fun, not hold your hand throughout the night as you cry in the back corner because your bff won't stop talking to strangers and left you all alone. Not that that actually happened or anything. Unfortunately they're pretty stingy about the VIP policy. After 5PM, it becomes pretty difficult to sneak your friends in without getting noticed. They have a pretty solid surveillance system. It complements their impressively modern and abstract decor. Honestly, I could probably spend hours just checking out the various pieces they have on display. Just when you thought the night was turning down and you need to go home and get some rest, they've got you covered. For example they are selling luggage bags with torn zippers ($6-$14) and worn clothing for $6 each, crazy. We did purchase some good quality clothing here, but once again, much higher than you would pay at a Goodwill. The items that interested me most were some of the furniture sets, which were "like-new" and "good" being sold at a great price, and the motorcycle jackets, which sold for less than half of what I would pay at Cycle Gear ($50 verses $110+). The staff were super friendly, and the store is organized. One major issue is that both restrooms were out of order. All-n-all this is an ok place to shop especially if you starting in a new home, need some furniture or other household items. As for the clothing, I would save my money for Ross or Goodwill.

This was the WORST trick or treating event ever for the kids. Beautiful city but so very stingy on candy. Homes that passed out candy were sporadically spaced and it was so crowded. There was a lot of walking and weaving around the crowds. Because of that we walked for an hour and a half to get 18 small pieces of candy. Really Celebration? My one son got two small pieces of individually wrapped jelly bellies. Million dollar homes and you can't even pass out decent candy? Shame on you. We had reservations at the Cuban restaurant however, decided not to go because we were so disappointed. We felt so bad we returned to the Hard Rock Hotel and bought the kids a fancy Halloween dessert at The Palm restaurant.

It's got a great selection of kids books and access to virtual learning resources. The kids area is small but perfect. They have a sign that only adults with kids are to be there which I like for safety reasons. They do have other areas for seating inside and computers available. The outside is charming with rocking chairs perfect to sit and read on a nice day out.

Libra ended up being my daughters dorm for her first year at UCF. I was pleasantly surprised by how…read morenice the dorms ended up being. The UCF campus is very picturesque and the areas around the dorm receive the same care in landscaping. Parking is hit or miss here. It's best if you can get in the lot right next to the dorm. If it's full however you will be stck parking at the garage some distance away. Libra is composed of six residence halls and is reserved for first year students. Rooms are either L shaped or pod style. My daughter was in Flagler Hall which had the pod style meaning each floor had a shared community room with couches, tables, and chairs. Her dorm had two girls per bedroom and the two bedrooms shared a bathroom in the middle of the two rooms. My daughter was on the third floor and the elevator was kind of slow. Guys have their own rooms on the same floor as the girls. I was pleased with the security of the building. There are no cooking facilities in the dorm rooms bu Libra has a community center with a TV, common room, and a kitchen. I once cooked a meal there and if you are cooking in the kitchen it's a good way to meet people because everyone will wander by to see what you are whipping up. I know my daughter really enjoyed her time in the dorm. She loved her room and all of the friends she met. There was always someone to hang out with. She has opted to live off campus next year but I know her time in Libra is something she will always treasure.

The marker…read moreis part of the Florida Historical Marker Program, one of the Division of Historical Resources' most popular and valued public history programs. It raises awareness of Florida's cultural history while enhancing the enjoyment of historic sites for residents and tourists. The blue historic markers tell the stories of the people and places that were important to Florida's history and they can be found in front of churches, schools, roads, archaeological sites, battlefields, cemeteries, historic buildings, and where forts once existed like this one. Historic marker F-483 was installed at the intersection of Gatlin Avenue and South Summerlin Avenue in 2003 by the Fort Gatlin Historical Group, Orange County Public Schools, Orange County Government and The Florida Department of State. This is a Florida Heritage Site. The marker provides information about Fort Gatlin which was the site of a fort during the Second Seminole War (1835-1842). When the government enacted the Indian Removal Act in 1830, the army was sent to drive all of the Native Americans out west on the Trail of Tears. The Seminoles resisted and the Second Seminole War broke out. Forts like this one were set up all across Florida to aid the US Army in their mission. The Seminole were the only tribe to never sign a peace treaty with the US Government. Fort Gatlin was established by the U.S. Army in November 1838 in what is now known as Orange County but at the time it vhad the less appealing name of Mosquito County. The fort was built by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander C.W. Fanning and four companies of the 4th U.S. Artillery. It was one of a string of forts built across Central Florida. Fort Gatlin was named in honor of Army Assistant Surgeon John S. Gatlin, who was killed in the Dade Massacre in 1835. The site for the fort was chosen because of its strategic location on a hill overlooking three lakes. This area was frequented by a tribe of Seminoles led by Chief King Philip and his son Coacoochee. Fort Gatlin was a simple stockade made with long posts anchored into ground with cross bars and heavy gates. The courtyard held a storehouse, mobile cannons, and a powder magazine. Fanning completed the fort and left. After that it was occupied by a company of troops under the command of 1st Lieutenant F.E. Hunt. The fort was reportedly attacked several times by the Seminole, who were attempting to regain their position. The fort was deactivated on July 1839 but was re-garrisoned briefly in October 1849 during an uprising of Seminole in Southern Florida. After the forts in Florida were abandoned, many gave rise to towns. Once Fort Gatlin closed a few soldiers and families remained in the area, growing citrus and raising cattle, and the town of Fort Gatlin was formed. In 1856, the town became the county seat of Orange County, which was created from Mosquito County in 1845. The community s name was later changed to Orlando in honor of militiaman Orlando Reeves, who was killed in battle during the Second Seminole War. Reeves is believed to buried somewhere in the site of the former Fort Gatlin. In 1941, during World War II, the United States Navy established the Underwater Sound Reference Laboratory near this site on Lake Gem Mary which was very deep. The lab closed in 1997. The Fort Gatlin Historical Group was founded by area residents to locate and preserve the heritage and historical features of Fort Gatlin. Some of the items found over the years include Seminole war era bottles, buttons, musket balls, and cannon balls. Until the 1920's, remnants of Fort Gatlin were visible to area residents. One other thing to note is that in addition to the historic marker there is also a large wooden sign with even more information about the Native American history in the area, more in depth information on Fort Gatlin and the Second Seminole War, Fort Gatlin's early settlers, the Naval Research Lab, and Fort Gatlin archaeology. There were also smaller signs providing information about the different plants in the area. Although the fort no longer exists, there is so much great information in this area that it is well worth a stop for anyone who would like to learn more about Orlando's earliest days. If you would like to see what a Seminole War era fort would have actually looked like, there is a great example of a replica of one from 1837 that you can visit at Fort Christmas Historical Park, in Christmas Florida.

Today was my first time in the library in a long time. For someone who just picked up a new habit…read morein late December and is on a budget, I needed an inexpensive way to continue reading books and preserving time. After looking online for the hours of operation on the weekend, especially a Sunday, and the requirements to get a full-access library card, I took my little family in. We were greeted by a nice young woman at the counter who smiled, welcomed us, and then proceeded to help us get our cards. Library cards are good for two years and then need to be renewed. Throwback to my last library card in 2014, I had to bring in a utility bill to show I was a resident of the county, today I just needed to show my DL. It was quick and easy to get my card. Downstairs are holiday books, audio, DVDs, magazines, fiction, nonfiction, adult graphics and teen graphics, restrooms, an elevator, a sensory room, and a few study rooms. Upstairs are meeting rooms, study rooms, a teenage section, computer access, adolescent books, preschool books, and a room for toddlers. It was a nice relaxing afternoon. With the all-access pass, I get up to 50 books per card, place 20 holds, check out for 21 days, and have 3 automatic renewals. I am also an educator, to get this pass, I had to show my teacher ID, and current paystub, and provide them with the address of my school. With this card, I get up to 100 books per card. Next time, I will use the online card catalog to find books or go in with a plan. Today, I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure where to find titles. What I like is being able to go on the website and request/hold books and when they become available you'll get notified and have a time limit to pick up. I have already added 3 titles to my request list. :)

The lines were longer than I expected, but then again I went in right when they open the doors. The ladies in charge and the volunteers were helpful and they kept the tables full of books. There are plenty of parking space in the front of the library and they always have great events for the family.

I love a good walking trail, and this one is part of my daily routine. It's conveniently located…read moreright behind my complex, and I walk about a mile here every day on my lunch break. The trail and surrounding area are well-kept, and there are usually other people out walking, which makes it feel safe. There is plenty of parking by a newly redone fishing dock, plus plenty of wildlife--birds, rabbits, turtles, and dogs. The lake view is beautiful and makes the whole experience even better. Definitely part of my daily routine.....

This is definitely more of a walking trail and not so much a park. There are bo places to linger and enjoy the day. It is basically a sidewalk around a like. It could also be a bit more clean. This is still a decent enough place to walk if you are in the area
