You will feel the difference when you walk in the door to the Gents Quarters. First the atmosphere. Then they will offer you a drink from their fully stocked bars. That is all before you get to the hair cut. Zach made great conversation during my appointment and the end product (which by the way this was for my wedding) was perfect. My wife said she thought everything came out great after within seconds of seeing me walk in the house. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

First, don't believe the Yelp "more info" panel that says appointments aren't necessary. When I went there for a walk-in appointment they told me they couldn't cut my hair because no stylists were on duty that day for CGQ. So, just to make sure my trip to Franklin Lakes wasn't a complete waste of time, I made an appointment for my first haircut. I said, it was very nice. Now I'm trying to make my next appointment and no one's answering the phone. The message tells me to just, "go to 'DemandForce' to make an appointment." Okay. So I go to demandforce.com, and it's the corporate site of a firm that helps businesses with online marketing. There's absolutely nothing to do with CGQ on the site, other than a screenshot of how a "salon" could use DemandForce to integrate their appointment scheduling into their Yelp page (hint, hint CGQ?). I finally turned to Google for help, searching for "demand force chateau salon." That brought me to a local.demandforce.com page with a "Schedule an Appointment" button and more reviews. I would have gladly given CGQ 4-5 stars if not for the hoops I've had to jump through just to give them my business. Whoever's responsible for CGQ's web site needs to get the "Schedule an Appointment" button integrated into the site, and whoever does their Yelp page needs to put it there too. And as for the answering machine message, set up a FREE TinyURL shortened link to the scheduling page and provide that instead of just saying "go to DemandForce." Here, I created one for them free of consulting fee - http://tinyurl.com/chateausalon. Or maybe CGQ just doesn't want any more business?

Casey does our hair every 6 weeks or so and his styling and aesthetics remain top shelf. Never had a bad experience here. Never. His shop has expanded and now includes 5 full time chairs and sports a cool retro look that says gentleman's barbering at its finest, without any frills or pretentiousness. No craft brewed IPA and avocado toast here folks, for which I am grateful. That said, this is an hip establishment that delivers upscale style for men of all ages and sensibilities. Casey continues to earn my respect with his courteous, "regular guy" approach to barbering and conversation. He is wise beyond his years and a great conversationalist -- even for old farts like me. Reminds me of my millennial sons -- in a really good way. Iconic is a socially responsible business and regularly hosts fundraisers for good causes and is internet savvy. Making digital appointments and tracking your barber's schedule is easy online -- and I appreciate the appointment reminders via email and text. Very professional. Top Tip: Make appointments well in advance to avoid last minute shut outs. I always book our next when I'm done and get an email reminder in minutes. Makes scheduling painless. Also, this is a cash only establishment, which is reflected in the reasonable pricing, so plan accordingly. If needed, there is an ATM on site. Note to Owner: Thanks Casey for keeping all our grooming "fresh" and congrats on all your success and good news, both personal and in business. You've earned it and deserve it.

Look, I understand there are sick people out there and there are many worse things than a bad haircut experience. Haircuts (good or bad) is not the end of the world either way. As a parent I'm just glad my son is healthy, everything else is secondary. I don't write reviews often (if ever), unless I have a disaster of an experience and wish to warn others. The following is perspective for those who may consider going here with their own child, expecting a friendly / welcoming staff and environment.... [insert expletive]'ing SCARY experience for my 2 year old boy. Guy cutting his hair was older. Told him just a trim. I repeat -- "just a small trim" (like, not a normal haircut because he has curly hair and we don't like it too short). He started chipping his hair like crazy. But, not before repeatedly spraying water in my sons face and eyes, while flexing his big scissors in his face. My sons was literally flinching while the barber held him back. Scared him with everything. My son is 2! I asked the guy to take it easy. Then it got ugly. He KEPT GOING. Didn't stop cutting his hair, shorter and shorter. The told the guy to just STOP cutting his hair. HE KEPT GOING! I was kind of shocked looking around like, WTF is going on here -- I couldn't believe the guy?! Finally I asked him to just STOP! And he stopped. Look, again, a good or bad haircut - my son is healthy any doing ok. Hair grows back. It just seriously bothers me how the guys here handled such a young boy while completely disregarding his parent. I'll never in a million years ever go here again myself, certainly never again with my son, and I would like to warn others to please stay away. Recommending "Snips For Pips" (child haircuts in Ridgewood) or other, similar types of places for young children. [insert expletive] HORRIBLE!!!

I love this barbershop. It reminds me of when I was a kid, going to a shop with my father and grandfather. That's what you'll see when you go to Little Joe and John's. Lots of fathers with their kids getting a top notch haircut with an amazingly friendly and fun group of barbers. Thank you Alex. I'll remember this day forever.
