    Beef and chicken quesadilla

Visiting from Houston and craving something authentic, we decided to stop at Rosita's #2, and it turned out to be the best decision of our trip. I had the beef and chicken quesadilla with an agua de piña. Absolutely delicious, 10/10, highly recommend!

Great food. I tried a completely new item (to me) called a Torta sandwich with steak and chicken. Taco Tuesday special today were $1 crunchy beef tacos. Very flavorful and filling. The location sneaks up on you and they did not have a name in the exterior of the building, but a good crowd in the parking lot. I assume the signage will come- the place looks fairly newly renovated. Maybe some storm recovery in progress. You should try the juices- cantaloupe juice is sweet and fresh. They don't sell alcohol but I think you can bring your own. The quesadilla was also beet tasty. Not sure about the fajitas, I got too full. The chips and salsa were fresh. They have the corn chips- which I prefer to the flour! Drop in for a quick meal or swing through the drive thru.

This is a hidden gem in Lake Charles. Seatings are limited and they get pretty busy around noon on Sundays. The food is FANTASTIC, especially the birria tacos! Unlike other soggy taco places I've tried, theirs is crispy. They offer complimentary chips and salsa and several hot sauces to choose from. The food comes out within 15 minutes after you put in your order. There's nothing special about the inside because it's a hole in the wall restaurant. I've tried to come back for more birria tacos on a Monday only to find out they were closed. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

Authentic mexican cuisine! We dined close to lunch time and everything was fresh The food came out very quickly and they made sure we had our drinks filled and chips at hand during our entire meal The staff was nice and told us about the history of their restaurant and why it's so special. come eat here! it's cozy and clean. perfect. Also the menu has a variety of foods and drinks from eggs to seafood. something for everyone at any time of the day.

Worst place ever. There was a shard of metal in the chorizo and egg! Nachos were cold. Coffee is instant. Cup had a hole in it and water leaked all over the table. Salsa tastes like plain tomato sauce.

HORRIBLE SERVICE... waited about 10 mins to have someone come and greet our table, then waited an hour for 4 tacos. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy, taco bell is down the road i'd suggest that over this place. They never stopped by our table to check up and acted like we didn't exist while the manager sat down and just played movies.... what a joke.

WOWWW! This resturant is amazing! I ordered Birria tacos, a beef burrito, and a chicken chimichanga! Everything was piping hot and the servers were very attentive and kind! A great place for authentic Mexican cuisine!

Southwest Louisiana is home of the Cajuns & Creoles, that food is authentic here; the area is not famous for its Mexican food. But the food is still muy bueno. Los Ponchos has a separate entrance, and it's easy to see the sign from Highway 397. It's within half a mile from I-10, so if you're speeding between Lafayette and Beaumont, it's not far out of your way. The menu is full of things to eat: enchiladas, tostadas, tacos, quesadillas, even steaks and burgers (huh?). Or you can build your own combo, which I did: three items for $14.99. * Beef enchilada - the best of the bunch. Strong beefy taste. * Chicken taco - I had the soft taco, and it was so full of chicken, tomatoes, and lettuce that it spilled out onto the plate. Nice taste, tender chicken. * Chicken quesadilla - one tortilla folded over, and the cheese was gooey inside to hold that tender chicken inside and give it a nice flavor. * Served with refried beans & rice. I found another place that puts cheese on its refried beans, giving it a much better taste. Chips come with black beans in addition to salsa, a nice touch. Meanwhile, it is a clean place, tiles painted to look like south of the border. Not exactly authentic, but it does the job The ranchero and cumbia music sets the mood. Service with a smile. I was a lifelong Californian, and that state has some of the best Mexican food in the country; Mexicans moved north of the border, brought their recipes with them, and opened a place to eat just like home. Los Ponchos' food is up at THAT level, it's that good. If you're picky about your Mexican food, then make it a point to visit here. The casinos don't need your money, they're making plenty from the suckers, so don't be a loser, Los Ponchos is a winner.

The outdoor patio, though, is a nice touch and definitely the more inviting part of the space. If the weather is right, that's probably where I'd choose to sit next time. The Eats This visit was a bit of a miss for me. The chips were "off" - either too thick or not fried enough - but something about the texture just didn't hit right. I ordered the chimichanga, which is a flour tortilla filled with your choice of seasoned beef or chicken, deep fried and topped with ranchero sauce, served with sour cream. Unfortunately, it didn't land for me. I'm used to chimichangas being topped with a white cheese sauce, so the ranchero sauce was unexpected and not something I enjoyed. The overall dish just didn't come together, and I ended up not finishing it or taking it to go. I didn't try any drinks since I had a class afterward, but honestly, that's probably what I'd lean into if I returned. The Service Service was fine - no major issues. We were greeted, orders were taken, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. Nothing stood out either way, but it got the job done. Parting Thoughts Laguna's may be worth a visit for the patio or to try drinks, but the food didn't quite meet my expectations this time. I might give it another shot and order something different, but based on this visit, it wasn't a standout for me.

The only thing we didn't like was their salsa. It was like tomato sauce with a touch of spice to it. The margaritas were as good as the ones in Austin Texas! Salsa and margaritas are how I judge my Mexican restaurants. I like less tomato sauce and more actual finely diced tomatoes, onion, peppers. We will be back on our next visit!! I want to be able to sit up top when it's not raining.
