    Beef Tamales

Great little local place with authentic Mexican music playing that makes you feel like you're gonna good. My server was quick, attentive and very friendly. The barbacoa tacos were my favorite along with the beef tamales. I've never had tamales topped with what I thought was beef or chorizo or not wrapped in corn husk, but I ordered another one after my first one. I will be back! I love these small places with great, authentic food. Try and you won't regret.

Sooooo good!!! Authentic Mexican food! The fajita tacos were BOMB!!! Great food and great service!! Definitely will come back anytime we come to the casino or Lake Charles!

Lake Charles is a restaurant town. Perched as it is along the Louisiana gulf coast, that's hardly surprising. The best food in America and arguably the world is found in an arc generally defined by New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. SWLA is in the center of that culinary "hammock." As terrible and destructive as hurricanes are, here is a fact. They have a habit of reinventing culinary centers, which rise newly creative and innovative from the rubble. Of course Lake Charles suffered not one but two major hurricanes, along with a recent deep freeze and a year-long pandemic. So getting the food service industry restarted here, be they independent restaurants, chains, or the big casino resorts, hasn't come easily. It's especially hard to find employees when those employees don't have a place to live. I'm reminded of Restaurant August in New Orleans, one of the early fine dining restaurants to reopen after Katrina. The people who cooked and served the food back then were living communally in a couple of rooms upstairs, where the bottles of wine were once stored. But in the end, New Orleans as a restaurant city emerged bigger and clearly better...than ever before. Restaurants old, reborn and new are similarly leading the charge of the post-storm, post-pandemic renaissance of the Lake Charles area. Many of those which took cataclysmic damage are remodeling or rebuilding, and are starting to open if they haven't already. Others are relative newcomers, some seeking their place in niches which are already seemingly crowded. The large number of Latinos and Hispanics who populate this area, some long-term and some short term (construction) have spurred the proliferation of new south-of-the-border cafes and taquerias. The real deal; not dumbed down for American tastes. Let's face it; Cajuns in SWLA can handle anything you can serve them. Similarly, the same people who rebuilt Nola after Katrina also fueled its culinary rebirth. I had street tacos for lunch on my first visit to Taqueria Los Sanchez, a modest, brightly painted wood frame joint on College St. along I-210. I loved them. So my wife and I returned tonight and I went for the hard stuff. Molcajete mixto, with corn tortillas and three plump chile toreados. Absolutely delicious, and enough for three meals. It took me two go-boxes to fit in everything I couldn't eat in the first sitting, and God knows I tried. Their salsa is homemade, without peer in Lake Charles, and just about anywhere else I can think of. The people here are lovely. The food is exceptional, and the prices are reasonable. The first pic is of my molcajete. I've also included pics of their birria tacos and whole red snapper. They also do Menudo at lunch on weekdays as well as weekends. All this, plus photographs of the legendary Pedro Infante on the wall, judging you as you eat your meal Face it, guys. This is who we all want to be. But I'll settle for lunch or dinner at Taqueria Los Sanchez's.

    Tacos Asada - Steak

This place serves the best tacos I've ever tasted in my life hands down! They have reasonable prices and are very friendly. There are lines on the ground to direct social distancing while waiting to order. While waiting for food orders, everyone spreads out around the area or chooses to wait in their vehicle before coming back to wait near the area. Food is prepared promptly and they seem to remember every face when each order is completed. I ordered the Tacos Asada - Steak. I'm always sure to squeeze the lime on the tacos because it just adds an amazing zest to the combination of flavors. Sometimes my order is served with green salsa which has a mild spiciness to it and a thin consistency. They always include the red sauce which has a thick consistency and contains the maximum amount of spicy flavor. I picked some up just to have my mother try them. She could not stop moaning from her satisfaction of these things! She also believes they're the best tacos she's ever tasted! She could not stop talking about them and kept eating from the batch I brought over. This caught my brother's interest as well. He's a picky eater as in he doesn't like anything green and won't eat onions and hardly tries anything without hesitation. He loved them too! My girlfriend orders the churros every time. She loves them! She expected icing with them but loved them anyway. I'm not much of a churro eater, but I tried one for the review. The texture and flavor was great! I wanted to make sure this place was somewhere on the map for others to find, so please leave photos and reviews. If they ever transition to a permanent establishment, I hope they keep the food truck for events or nightlife munchies. The food truck adds character to the business. I would love for this place to get the support they deserve especially during this difficult time for small businesses.

Very tasty, the only issue was ambiance, but when you have good food it almost doesn't matter as much.

It was the best authentic Mexican I've had while living in moss bluff. Hands down some of the best food in moss bluff in general.
