Not many options were available for lunch. They were very busy and short staffed. We stood around for a bit then decided to seat ourselves and flag down a server. They had a variety of items on the menu. My colleague ordered the chicken fajita plate and unsweetened tea. I had caldo de rez and water. I think you had to pay for chips and salsa so we didn't have any. We got our drinks right away but it was a good wait for our good. Our food finally came and I asked for some lemon for my soup. And she asked for a refill on tea. My colleague was very satisfied with her food. Me on the other hand. . . my soup was cold and had no meat, never got the lemon and the tea refill was sweet tea and she just about fell out of the chair. The soup came with a side of rice and tortillas. The rice was really good and I ate that and the tortillas while I waited for our server to appear so I could have the soup sent back. She never came and I finally walked to the counter and she said, "I know, I know, your lemon." I said no, my soup is cold and had no meat. She apologized, came to the table and took the soup back. When she brought it back you could see the steam from the bowl but the soup was still could and still had no meat. She apologized and said she would not charge me for the soup. And, she did not. I have been to many places in the US and I have got to be honest with myself, Rosita's makes the best Nacho's "Cincos". I have been all over San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Forth Worth, Corpus Christi and have ordered nachos and been disappointed. I used to love their buffet but it's gone now after Covid. I was in town for work and "Rosita's Restaurant" was recommended for lunch. Walked in with a party of 10, they were able to seat us just fine. Please note the tables are plastic tables, no table cloth or cover. Waitress took our order in an orderly manner, wasn't too charming or welcoming but did her job. Many in my party ordered Chicken Fried Steak/Chicken, Chicken Fajitas, Grilled Chicken Plate, Enchilad Plate or Carne Guisada, no one really complained about their food. We also ordered a blooming onion and chips and salsa and it was pretty good! In my opinion, it is very Tex-Mex, nothing close to authentic but that's okay. Also the red rice was like cut up in tiny pieces, honestly it looked like quinoa, I was a little disappointed in them not having the basics right like rice and beans. One thing I think they could really help them is a very simple deep cleaning, the bathroom was unclean and smelly, you can tell they've never cleaned something so simple like the number signs on the table, I couldn't imagine the kitchen. Overall an okay experience, I probably wouldn't be back to eat there for lunch. Prices are reasonable. read more

I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed with this restaurant. I was looking for breakfast. I'm interested in supporting the local community and chose this one because I am going to be coming to the area for several Sundays in the next few months. I won't be stopping here. The ambiance is institutional and the decor dismal. The coffee was tepid and weak. We sat for 1/2 an hour without any service. Ok place! It took about 10 minutes from the time we walked and found a table for someone to actually notice we were sitting there. No hello or I'll be right with you or even eye contact. The service was not so good. The vibe was not welcoming and I felt like we were invading someone's home, I ordered a carne guisada with beans and rice. It was actually very good. The tortillas were fresh. My grandchildren ordered grilled cheese sandwiches, they looked good with a nice golden color. They had a buffet when I went in and man it was very good specially for the price. They had carne guisada, picadillo, hard shell tacos, enchiladas, charro beans, they had a fresh vegetable soup (very good), salad, some desserts (I wasn't into to that). The food was great. Went here for dinner tuesday night. Not from the area but service was good. There were only about 2-3 other parties at the time. Staff friendly. Wife went into bathroom and she says it's nice enough...and she is fairly finicky about restrooms. Had the dinner with 1 trip salad bar. Not alot of options but not bad either. Lettuce was nice and crisp. This was end of night as well. They had pickled ocra and its the first time i tried it... very delicious...but i love all things pickled. They even let me have more. Main meal was ribeye. I posted picture. Large portion and meat was tender...however this night it was somewhat bland. Added A1 sauce and it was good enough. Mom had fried shrimp plate. It looked good and she said it tasted good. Wife had fajita plate. She said it was good as well. I thought it was a tad overcooked but wife liked it. Overall a nice place in a small town. Driving thru on a Sunday looking at yelp decided to try Rosita's. The outside is really a iffy place but inside was bright and clean. We got the buffet the pork chop was delicious the pepper steak was little spicy but tasty. The hot food bar should be a little hotter in my opinion. The salad bar was good with fresh veggies. The potatoes were instant so didn't try those. Cream gravy with pork chop was ok Jello pudding and marshmallow salad. Cokes are in a can. The menu had American and Mexican. As I write this my family and I have been waiting nearly an hour on our order of breakfast tacos. Mind you it's only 4 tacos, one for mom, one for dad and two for me. No not happy with this restaurant. I ordered the Mexican dinner. It came with 2 enchilada's Two crispy taco's and a chalupa , I asked them o change the crispy tacos for soft tacos with shredded beef and no red sauce on my enchilada, and to add anther Taco instead of the chalupa .. What I got was To enchilada's did not seem cooked, they had ground beef as did the taco's and my husbands only got the two taco's no extra taco and all were ground beef. I will not return. read more

The food is decent, the buffet is usually good and well stocked, and breakfast is the best meal there. Ask for grated potatoes instead of hash brown patties and home fries in place of chips - both upgrades are worth it!
