I researched local attorneys in the area, Vergara & Associates as it was not only local to Hopewell but conveniently located directly across from the courthouse. I spoke with them on the phone, signed paperwork to act as my legal representation and paid my money retaining the services of the attorney. The office had my email address, my phone number, my home address and a cell phone number and yet I never received anything indicating I needed to complete an online defensive driving course. My speed was 86/70 which again I later learned this is considered a wreck less driving in the state of Virginia. An online driving course to get a wreck less driving case pleaded out to improper equipment is a no brainer; any 13 year old can complete an online driving course. Nonetheless the letter I later received stated that my legal representation had plead guilty on my behalf to a wreck less driving as I did not complete my only defensive driving course. It went on to say I could give more money if I would like to appeal the court's decision. This law office did absolutely nothing for me that I could not have done for myself I am certainly not going to give them more money to appeal a case on my behalf. Extremely disappointed with the lack of communication this firm provided, assuming your client is aware is just plain laziness in my personal opinion. Picking up a phone and communicating with your client, informing them of the courts requests and its time parameters is the sole purpose of retaining legal representation.

Joe Cravens mishandled my divorce processes several years ago and was simply the worst. Never returned phone calls, never negotiated on my behalf, or gave me a sense of confidence that he was competent in the least. As I look at these reviews I see he has only gotten worse. How this guy ever acquired a at card to be a lawyer or attorney doesn't speak well for the law school he graduated from. Personally I don't think he gives a crap about his clients and to too it off he's gained about 150 pounds. Your incompetence has prompted me to write this honest review.

Such a LAZY law firm. NO ONE should use them for their DIVORCE as they will NOT LISTEN to anything…read morethat another party is saying. My child received divorce papers from this firm MULTIPLE times and EACH and EVERY time they were received they were WRONG. They kept referring to the husband as a she through out the document - had incorrect names and dates and incorrect address. And they were filing in the incorrect locality of where either of them live. Each of them lives in two different counties and yet they file in the City of Petersburg. My child simply kept telling them that there would be no signing until it was all corrected. There is NO CONTESTING of the divorce - just wanted the paperwork corrected with the correct spellings and address and FILED in the CORRECT LOCALITY. But they served my child with the paperwork and said that due to refusal of signing they were filing anyway in the CITY of PETERSBURG and the divorce would go through. Custody is clearly filed in the county that one resides and YET this law firm filed the divorce in the City of Petersburg all because the address says Petersburg on it and it is listed WRONG, which the correct address had been given listing the county. I have NEVER SEEN so many revisions from a firm on a NON CONTESTANT DIVORCE PROCEEDING in my life! All I can say is RUN!! I guess you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Luckily my child did not pay for this sorry excuse of an attorney. It is CLEAR that the attorney on this DOES NOT REVIEW anything his assistant did. He just signed his name and kept it moving. Doesn't matter what is right or wrong. Hopefully the assistant and attorney will do better moving forward and when the Defendant calls in with correct information - either believe them or check it out yourself to ensure it's true !!!! But DO NOT do what you did with this case!!!
