The officer who wrote my sons ticket did not show up on the court date and the case should have been dismissed. Not only was it not but the judge gave my son 100 hours of community service (first ever offense of any kind) and then ultimately a $500 fine. My son was a scholarship student and working 100 hours community service was difficult but he did it. However, since the officer who wrote the ticket didn't show up, the case should have been thrown out. Our attorney said nothing at all aside from trying to get his ticket reduced to a lower charge. He is a complete waste of money and he clearly is in cahoots with Hopewell in order to generate money for the town. Search Million Dollar Mile on you tube and you will find there is a one mile stretch of Virginia that generates income for them based on speeding ticket. Paul Roskin was the biggest waste of money.

I researched local attorneys in the area, Vergara & Associates as it was not only local to Hopewell but conveniently located directly across from the courthouse. I spoke with them on the phone, signed paperwork to act as my legal representation and paid my money retaining the services of the attorney. The office had my email address, my phone number, my home address and a cell phone number and yet I never received anything indicating I needed to complete an online defensive driving course. My speed was 86/70 which again I later learned this is considered a wreck less driving in the state of Virginia. An online driving course to get a wreck less driving case pleaded out to improper equipment is a no brainer; any 13 year old can complete an online driving course. Nonetheless the letter I later received stated that my legal representation had plead guilty on my behalf to a wreck less driving as I did not complete my only defensive driving course. It went on to say I could give more money if I would like to appeal the court's decision. This law office did absolutely nothing for me that I could not have done for myself I am certainly not going to give them more money to appeal a case on my behalf. Extremely disappointed with the lack of communication this firm provided, assuming your client is aware is just plain laziness in my personal opinion. Picking up a phone and communicating with your client, informing them of the courts requests and its time parameters is the sole purpose of retaining legal representation.

Amazing! Ms. Hartz and her staff guided me from day 1, gave me a list of things I need to accomplish in order to receive best outcome, always communicated any the updates in timely manner. What amazed me is that she took personal interest in my case and didn't give up when 1st verdict was 1st degree misdemeanor and suspended license, Ms. Hartz took my case to a different court and got the best possible outcome you can only imagine! I tried to report her to VA State Bar but I will need to figure out the proper channel to go through to have her investigated. My sisters friend did not find her character in the best interest of the children but rather a individual who suffers from insecurities who power trips her position, however I saw right through her manipulation and scare tactics. Her behavior infront of the Judge was not the same as behind closed doors.

There were multiple issues with patching together work notes that my lawyer did not catch and because of that I got a few thousand less than what I should have. I was on video falling out of an attic while working and breaking my tailbone at work and got less than 2 weeks workers comp after 9 months of being out of work in some capacity. My dog and I went through so much trauma. I was talked down to, kept asking me for information I already gave him, and was surprised by how often I went to the doctors for my injuries. When I asked about my police report he didn't even want to tell me. He told me "It is what it said it is." Who speaks like that?! I was still dealing with the trauma of my accident. This is how I was treated and talked to. He didn't take me seriously. When I fired him he called me back to back more than 5 times! You didn't take me seriously but my new lawyers did. I'm so grateful I hired a new lawyer to help me with my case. Never will I ever recommend this place. I confided in some friends about my experience with this office. Some of them were lawyers and told me I should go to the state bar about your behavior and the way you spoke to me. That spoke volumes.
