We came here a few months ago and bought some wood for a project. Everyone there was extremely nice and helpful. It was our first time buying reclaimed wood and building furniture out of it. They helped us understand what we needed to buy and what we needed to do to be a success! And it was a success !! We can't wait to come back and build more I thought I had more pictures. I'll take Some when I get home. We built a vanity and towel bar w 2 shelves on it !

    Gorgeous edging.

I could write a novel on the excellent customer service from beginning to end but I'll give you the highlights of what made it excellent: 1. Ross' excitement to help create my custom desk from finding the right wood to literally laying it out on the floor so I could see it together. 2. Showing up for an approval look and when I was not seeing the desk I hoped to see the team of three went into solutions mode. They threw out ideas, showed me other options, and didn't stop until I said I felt we were closer. 4. When I returned for the final product (expecting to be disappointed to be honest) the desk top was even better than I had ever imagined it would be. Now I need to upgrade my house to fit this beautiful super cool desk! When you spend this kind of money you not only expect to get something that will last pretty much forever, but a piece that you just love to look at, that makes your work space inviting. I got all of that and more.

If your looking to help save some trees while working on a project stop by this place and you may find a great piece like I did. I was asked by my brother to build him a bar for his wedding and I wanted it to have a story behind it, and I found that piece here. I found some Red Oak Lumber from the Jim Beam Distillery in Kentucky and is over 100 years old. I had the top and bottom plained but left the edges with its aged patina and then had it sealed by My wife and kids after I built it, and it brought the life of the wood to the forefront. My brother and his wife really loved it as did his guests as my wife and I both heard them talking and complimenting it, and his father in law told him he wants one as well. Did I mention he plained it and cut it to size all in same day as I ordered it. This place carries walnut, beechwood, maple, pine, and lots more. If your looking to save a tree and don't mind spending more than you would for a new cut piece, come here for great service, great quality, same day service, and it has free parking.

My purchase. Well, part of it.

Open 9-5 every day even during Covid. Some of the nicest staff that you'll ever meet. And extremely helpful too. Ross, the owner, is really worth supporting. All-around great guy. And the staff, all of the staff, are exactly the same. Don't let us lose this business. Nothing Else like it in a greater Los Angeles area. Trust me, I've looked.

Finally got around to writing a review. Nico and Eduardo helped me pick the perfect reclaimed lumber for a table I built. Reclaimed lumber is not cheap, but Eduardo Milled it very skillfully and I ended up very happy with the outcome. Nico is the best, super helpful, positive, and just a really cool person to work with.

Ross Alan is absolutely amazing, whatever your highest expectations, he will likely exceed them. I went to here to replace my mantel during a remodel. Ross helped me pick out the perfect piece of wood reclaimed from a 19th Century Ohio barn. When I saw the piece I liked it, but it was a bit warped and I didn't see great potential. Ross assured me it would be really nice when he was done with it. He estimated 3-weeks to finish it due to having a lot of orders ahead of me. I wasn't in a hurry so didn't mind, but he still cranked it out in like 10-days and it came out absolutely amazing. This mantel has become the focal point for my house. Ross is like a high-end Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. He was able to cut away the every flaw and at the same time enhance the beauty to an incomprehensible degree. I mean this thing is incredible. The pictures don't even begin to show how beautiful the grain is. He also made the front a dark walnut, but the top lighter so the dark stain doesn't obstruct the beauty of the woods complexity and the historic lines. Ross isn't cheap, but he is worth absolutely every penny. He is a miracle worker.

Squee!!! Initially coming in I was fairly hesitant since I saw a lot of clean cut wood or painted old wood (I hate paint on wood!!!!!!!) but I kept looking and found a few beat up beams I liked and had a cost estimate drafted up for a coffee table. COST: 3 planks, 4 pin legs, 1 glass sheet, 4 metal sides and reinforcement wood pieces - It cost 870. About $200 more than other places I looked outside of California. The fact that I was able to pick my beams, and not have to worry about a table being shipped to me was the deciding factor for me to get it done here. So is the price fair? My honest answer is I would believe it's close to the normal market rate based on other tables I was looking at with similar build and dimensions (The place I almost bought from was "Recycled Brooklyn" on Etsy) CUSTOMER SERVICE: Ideal. They were very clear, listened to me, and very nice! When I was moving the table in my car the leg popped off and they fixed it right away. I can see why they used the short screws they did initially and it was a mega easy fix even it if had happened to me later, so it wasn't a big deal but still a little unfortunate to have happen right away lol and another leg is a bit loose so I know I'll end up replacing those screws soon. I would definitely recommend this place - besides - look at all the other beautiful projects they've made!

Beautiful grey-weathered double vanity in master bathroom.

I'm a long-time Yelper but not a 1,000 review Yelper, LOL! :-D Everyone has different taste buds and preferences. I only post reviews for those service businesses that genuinely deserve it! I first met Ross over 2 years ago at his tiny storage unit down the street from his current expansive shop. We hit it off the bat with our Michigan connection! He is the nicest guy, along with his awesome wife, Georgie, and their manager, Steven! They worked with me on my vision for several pieces, including by-pass barn doors for our pantry and two vanities for our bathroom remodels. I'm currently working with him on a fourth project for a beam in our living room. As you can see in the photos, their craftsmanship is second to none and their down-to-earth customer service helped me through some stressful remodeling times! I can't thank them enough for upgrading our home with some beautiful pieces!! You guys are the best!! :-)

Ross Alan is local. Ross Alan uses reclaimed wood. We wanted an 8 X 3 foot hickory island top for our kitchen. We picked it up yesterday and are super satisfied with the quality of work. Everyone there has been very helpful and responsive. Thanks Ross Alan! Beautiful work!

Very friendly and encouraging staff. Cool selection of authentic barn wood, etc. I will return for my next project!

Great place for reclaimed, vintage lumber. Been there a few times and dealing with the owner was very pleasant.

Ask the Community - Ross Alan Design

Hello! I need to cut 3 pieces of wood (2 pine and 1 eucalyptus) that I am using to resize a bookcase. Would I be able to bring these pieces of shelving to have them cut there on a panel saw? If so, how much does each cut cost?

I honestly would not know the answer, but I will say they are extremely easy to work with. I would say give them a call. Also, they'll probably ask you to send or bring pictures and measurements of your bookcase. They are true craftsmen...,and wait…

When we found there she was on phone and putting out a fire so it wouldn't have matter if we were on time. Our issue was that before she said hello, she made it clear her time was limited and implied it was because we were late. She also never made an effort to even sit down with us - instead just straggly stood talking to us about cost to use their services. What she missed was that we were fully aware we ran a bit late but that she wouldn't have been able to meet with us anyway until she finished what she was in the middle of anyway. Unfortunately, she made zero effort to connect with us.
