I've always have been able try on bras at every Ross location inside the changing room. This is the first time I've ever heard of a policy where you couldn't try on a bra before buying. My mother who asked has even worked at a Ross before and this is not only unheard of but gets worse. Manager called security on my mother to explain this which was also unnecessary. It's not on their websites or on a sign anywhere saying store policy has changed in regards to trying on bras inside the changing rooms? Since when? It wasn't underwear but the manager was saying how it's "unhygienic"? Since when? After my mom left the store I came out of the changing rooms to look for her and overheard Vicki talking loudly in public complaining to a higher up on the phone about my mother. Guess she couldn't be bothered to do that inside of an office like a professional. Talking about how she,"wasn't going to fight the lady." That lady is my mother and had every right to complain. Don't believe any of the pictures that show well-organized shelves. This place is a zoo! Especially with the holidays fast approaching, the store is overstocked with randomness, with a focus on clothes and shoes.. There are some great deals here, and despite it all, you're going to come here to check them out! Big reason I come here are the suitcases. They have a ton of them, and they are on sale.. I'm not sure why this place has so many suitcases on sale, nor why Marshalls next door doesn't.. but its a great place to buy them, second only to Costco. This Ross was pretty good but not the best Ross my mom and I have visited while visiting Houston. When you walked in, their greeter/security guard is very sweet and definitely starts your experience off great! We were able to find a lot of great items for my mom, my girlfriend, and myself but there are 2 things that I did not like about this location and are the reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star like it definitely could have been. 1) the place is very unorganized and kinda dirty. The shelves are a mess and the clothes are tossed around. It was pretty bad and the reviews saying other wise are definitely wrong 2) while the selection is pretty good, there is not a lot of it and not a good variety of different sizes. OMG, this store is so organized! Everything is clean and in order. Today was the first day opened and all the employees made sure to enforce social distancing. The employees kept sanitizing everything. I'm amazed on how well Mark the manager ran this store . He went above and beyond helping all the customers. I am disabled and was having a hard time standing in line and he was so kind to bring me a chair. He also went the extra mile helping every customer with their bags. Mark was extremely hands on with helping the staff and everyone in sight. The best Ross I have ever been to hands down . Great job guys. read more

I really like shopping at Ross. I admit that you have to be really careful shopping for clothes because most of the stuff is manufactured with really low quality materials. However, I have found a few cute outfits. But, I go to Ross more for all the other stuff they sell. Home decor?! Yes, much cheaper than at home decor stores. I was recently looking for a sectional 5'x8' rug for my living room and couldn't find the color I wanted for less than $144. Surprisingly enough I found a similar one at Ross for ... (drum roll please) : $29.99!!! Yes, $30 bucks!! I am sure the rug will not last as long as the more expensive counterpart, but hey, it does the job for the time being. On a side note...I saw the potential future father of my children at this particular Ross, he came up to me, but sadly, he caught me by surprise and I shot him down. Came in on a Saturday to looked for some items to wear at a conference in a few weeks. I have a limited budget to spend, but I cleaned house. I have lectures/workshops I will be attending every day but there are receptions, a banquet, and mixers so will be attending in the evenings. I found a dress, a skirt (that I have a top and cardigan I can pair with it), jeans, and a cardigan I can wear to class during the day. I bought a pair of shoes that I exchanged two days later due to the heel height. The store was a bit messy and unorganized but I came during a really busy time of day, so it was understandable. The check out line was long but it took less than 10 minutes from the time I stood in it until I was out the door. So I was very pleased! Ross is simply dirty. When you imagine stores to be disorganized and disgusting during the November - January shopping season (first week or two of January for returns and gift cards) Ross is like that year round. Usually if I'm here, I'm dragged here by someone else or I couldn't find what I needed at Marshall's. I've never really liked the selection of clothing here and their house items, while could be cute, are usually damaged by customers and left on shelves, giving the store a tackier feel. The wait can be long, which baffles me as not everyone could be there after an unsuccessful trip to Marshalls, and the cashiers are never friendly, with the exception of one young lady who tends to wear Christian jewelry. You'll know it's her, based on her professionalism and how friendly she is. To date I've only found two things I needed, when I was looking for other products. One was a surprise rug for my room and the other a hangar for my curtains. It did take forever to find the piece I wanted as the curtain rods section tends to have everything shoved there and it's difficult to remove a curtain rod, without adding to the mess. (That's the only excusable area where customers would have a hard time not being jerks and leaving stuff everywhere. They way the racks are set up you're forced to damage the box or leave it on the floor as it's difficult to slide back in the display rack.) There just are not enough bargains and quality items to warrant coming here. And if by chance you do find something worth keeping you may be forced to leave that item at a random location if the wait time didn't get to you. Unless you really are desperate for an item, I'd say this store is safe enough to skip. You are not missing much. read more

This Ross is always empty as far as merchandise, dirty and no one working the registers. Super long lines! I'm talking amusement park type of lines. They do have great choices in comforter sets and rugs but everything else seems picked over. Staff is not friendly EXCEPT for the security person that yells WELCOME TO ROSS!!! (As you enter the store) Honestly, I feel like they do that as a way of saying "Security is in here so don't even think of trying to steal!" ... Lol. Great selection of clothes for excellent prices, but CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL! Had a horrible experience with the dressing room attendant and, more so, the store manager. Only allowed to take 8 items into dressing room, which is understandable. I then tried to bring up 4 unwanted items and switch out the "8" number tag (indicating I had 8 items in dressing room) for a "4" tag and was told by the attendant that I could not because then she wouldn't know how many items I had left in the dressing room. ??? Really? 8-4=4. I wanted to leave my daughter in the dressing room, still trying on clothes, while I went out and searched for other items that actually might fit and we possibly could buy, but attendant said I couldn't return only 4 items, so I took them back into the dressing room, along with the same number tag "8" and then the attendant came into the dressing area and said we need to bring all the items to the front for her to count them. ??? Again? Really? Same 4 of the 8 items she had already counted. I offered that she could count them in the dressing area, no need for us to stop trying on clothes and bring them up front, but she said we had to bring them up front. Reason: she called the store manager over, who then chastised us for "not following store policy." AGAIN, REALLY? What policy? We didn't switch out the clothes, we took the silly "8" tag, along with the 4 items I KNEW we didn't want. On the ONE day I had to shop with my daughters, they were wasting our time, stopping us from trying on clothes so they could recount our 8 items, and accusing us of somehow trying to steal clothes, I suppose. Stealing them, apparently, by trying to take up unwanted clothes, showing them to the attendant, and trying to help her understand that when I bring back 4 items from the 8 I took back that would leave only 4 in the dressing area. So frustrating and humiliating that my daughter was in tears. Try keeping an eye on the customers who are NOT showing you the items they are taking into the dressing room, not the ones who are helping you count them out. VERY ANNOYING AND AGGRAVATING. And they didn't even apologize or justify why they felt the need to call us out to bring the clothes up front to count even after we counted them out for the attendant when she came back into the dressing area. I typically only shop at the Meyerland Ross store after an unsuccessful trip to Marshall's (which is rare). Compared to Marshall's, Stein Mart or TJ Maxx, the items at Ross are generally of a lower quality and lower price, and that's just fine with me! However, Ross stores also tend to be a bit more disheveled and dirty, and the Meyerland location is no exception. In fact, it is probably the busiest Ross location I've ever frequented and items tend to be strewn about the store because shoppers here put items in their cart before later changing their minds and discarding them in random locations around the store. The checkout line at Meyerland Ross is very long (10-20 minutes or more, unless you are shopping right when the store opens that day). There are only five registers at this location (unlike Marshalls or TJ Maxx which can have 10-12), and I have never seen more than 3 people working the registers at any given time. This includes hectic Friday evenings (pay day!) and Saturday afternoons when the traffic is highest. I typically shop here alone, but it seems that most shoppers bring their entire families here and there are screaming kids running around everywhere, despite employees' attempts to stop them. Most of the chatter I hear when walking around the store is in Spanish, which has become pretty normal in Houston. Not implying anything with that statement, but it's just a fact that Hispanics are the predominant patrons here. In all, I have found some pretty awesome deals at Ross stores, and this location is no exception. However, I have to mentally prepare myself before each journey to the Meyerland store, and I don't enjoy shopping when stressed. With some improvements to the store and checkout line, I would definitely shop here more. read more

I went here today with my 2yr old son and had a run-in with Victoria, who was working in the dressing room and toy area. My son was looking at the toys and I was looking at baby products right next to him when Victoria walked up and took a toy away from him and reprimanded him for playing with the toys. He started wailing because we don't speak to him in tones she used. When I told her he was my child and I would appreciate her letting me know if she had a problem with him. She was very rude and continued to defend her actions instead of just apologizing and letting us go about our day. She literally followed me to the bathroom to continue the conversation. I called and spoke to the manager and they said this wasn't the first time they've had an issue like this with her and they'd try to coach her again on speaking pleasantly to customers. This Ross is not the greatest or cleanest Ross I've been to but they do have the basics like clothes, accessories, shoes, bedding, kitchen stuff, and more. Store was a disaster, only 2 cashiers which wasn't a big deal for me since I work in retail and understand how things can get, but what got me was the cashier was the worst. This was the best Ross ive been to. More selections than most others and great staff. I buy most of my home decor here and have never had an issue with the quality. Some stuff is remanufactured or defect and will be real cheap here but most is actually overstock from other retailers from my understanding. Ive bought items here with original tags on it from macys and kirklands and the compare prices on the items are spot on . I bought a fruit bowl for 29.99 hand carved out of wood with no defects and they still sell the same bowl at kirklands for 79.99. I also got a movado mens watch for 99.99 and sold it for $200 on ebay, talk about a come up! The lines look a bit long but they move it fast. 30 people in line took 4 minutes on 3 open registers. There must be a reason the stores so busy. I almost didnt go here from the other reviews but I noticed houston o girl seems to gripe and complain about every place she goes and liza k seemed like someone who thinks if your not christian your rude.
