I recently purchased two sets of Nautica socks at the Ross on Kirby in Houston. When I got home and tried them on, I found that they were slippery and made my shoes squeak (probably why they were at Ross). Living 50 miles, I called ahead and was told by the person on the phone that there wouldn't be a problem returning socks without a receipt. I made the trip in rush hour traffic (seriously), only to be told by the manager, who confirmed that she was actually the same person I talked to on the phone, that no return could be made without the original packaging. I replied that the socks didn't come in a package, only a wraparound sticker and a plastic fastener. She replied that she knew this, but considered those things to be the package. Really?!? To any sane person, those things are just trash! I suggested that she just scan an identical item from the shelf, but she refused, saying something like there was a chance of scanning the wrong one. I knew that there were only two versions of this product, though, because I had bought one of each version! It's standard practice for retail stores to grab a matching product from the shelf in order to scan the UPC. Her refusal to do so seemed to be a deliberate attempt to save face and deny my reasonable request. This misleading info and poor service wasted my time and fuel. I reached out to the corporate office, to give them a chance to make this right, but all they did was quote the return policy, which I did not run afoul of. To be more specific, the return policy does not require that the item be in its original packaging. I will be happy to remove my poor review of Ross Stores when they issue me a refund. Until then, y'all are better off going to the competition. There's plenty out there. read more

I'm one of those I need to make a stop at Ross when I'm traveling. It tells so much about the city I'm in. I liked this location. It's big and decently organized which is usually a problem for Ross stores. Security greeted us when we first walked in. I went right for the shoes. The shoe selection in my size wasn't so great which was kind of a let down. I will say the clothing sections were well organized. It's the little things when you pick up an article of clothing and it's the correct size is the greatest thing. Their clothes were where they were suppose to be. Fitting rooms were clean and big. Checkout went quick even though it was a long line. read more

The manager is horrible her name is Nicheal Andrew's and I know this because I asked an employee that works there who was this manager name because I seen and heard her yelling at her employees in a very rude and unprofessional manner. I guess I should have taken a couple of photos. I'm not a huge Ross fan. I prefer TJ Maxx and Marshall's. But it is what it is. This Ross is close to my house. So every so often I go in to pick up things like shower curtain liners, workout clothes, and dishware. When going to Ross, you have to be prepared to look through stuff. I'm not always in a looking mood, but when I am this store isn't so bad. This is in the shopping center with Fiesta Grocery store and other little shopping places. There is plenty of parking and I haven't experienced any crime in the parking lot. They're always friendly at this Ross, but sometimes, the line is very long. But I guess they cant have too many people working, because I'm assuming that other times it's not as busy. I will say that I have been to other Ross stores that have had a better selection of things. But I've also been to worse. Its alright!!! read more

I am trying to put together outfits and looks for different event I will be attending at a work conference in a few weeks. I don't have a lot to spend so been hitting up a few Ross Dress for Less' to see what I can put together. I cleaned up at another location two days prior but I came here to exchange a pair of shoes I bought at another location. The store was clean and a little more organized than other locations I have been in. I had not trouble finding my size. The aisles were clean and easy to maneuver through. I found another pair of shoes I love and only had to pay an additional $1.08. Nothing was wrong with the shoes I initially purchased but since I have really bad arthritis I needed a shoe with a slightly lower heel to pair with a dress. The staff was pleasant and helpful. A store manager greeted me and told me what to do to make my exchange/return. read more

Not cool having to pay for a second time for an item you already bought but not put in your bag at the cashier.. I came back a week later, I had the receipt, explained what happened. I was told "there's nothing can be done".. I went to the aisle and found the exact same pants at the store again and brought to customer service but manager&supervisor both said "we can't do anything because everything was put back because of the holidays".. I was not given the pants I paid for and had to purchase it again! Even the numbers on the tag was the exact same with the ones on my receipt! Really not cool! read more

Visited the store on Kirby, I was very disappointed in the selection of clothing, and what they did have was mostly items of low quality fabrics made in China. Every other item was off the hanger on the floor or found empty hangers every few garments. I found myself rehanging clothes rather than shopping... that's when I knew I wasn't going to find anything worth wasting my time on. I did find a couple pairs of sandals and some Carter baby clothes but definitely won't go back. From my experience of the Katy stores which usually have great finds, you would be better off going to a Goodwill. read more

This Ross has become a staple shopping stop for me. They usually have a fair selection of super cheap tops that seem dressy enough for work and casual enough to wear all the time, which works great for me. Their dress selection is pretty nicely stocked as well, compared with their other locations. The men's clothes is very lacking, I have yet to be successful at finding something for my husband here. The dressing rooms are less than impressive. They don't really look dirty but you may feel dirty afterwards. The dressing room attendants are less than stellar. The last time I was in there was a man with his wife in the women's dressing room because his wife didn't want to come outside the dressing room to show him the clothes she was trying on. The attendant wouldn't tell him to come out. So I had to wait outside until he decided to leave. Very annoying. I keep coming back because I can stock up my closet really quickly with $10 tops. read more

I'm not sure about the other stores in Houston, but this one is quite trashy. It always looks like it has been recently raided. Selection is also pretty slim at most times with a lot of open shelves. My best description of the place is it's a glorified garage sale. Still, when you want some good prices on items, it's the place to check first. read more

I was in the area during one of those bipolar rainstorms that Houston has had multiple times thus year during after work travel time, so I decided to do some shopping while I waited for the traffic to die down. I needed a rug for my classroom to put a final touch of pizzazz to it. Actually, I needed to rug to cover up bunches of wires that I needed for the technology in my room because I cannot stand seeing wires! I didn't want to pay an arm, leg, and foot, for a rug, so I decided to stop by Ross and see what I could find. I found a few nice and cheap selections but decided to splurge ail little a pick something that would compliment the color palette of the room. I was a little undecided on if it was worth the price, but the cashier who checked me out was very friendly and stated that she loved the rug color and actually was looking at getting the same one. The compliment confirmed that I was making the right decision because I can be a bit indecisive at times. Also, the store was pretty clean and organized despite it being back to school time, so kudos to this store making shopping so much more desirable. I even bought an addition item since the racks were viewable and not stuffed to capacity. Great place to shop if you're not in a rush. read more

They usually have good deals on clothes, but customer service is often apathetic at times. Saw three cashiers and only one had their light on. They also get a too "drill searganty" about staying behind the line until you're next. Overall I feel this store is decent, but the staff can be temperamental at times (but usually they are good). read more

This Ross is okay. Mostly organized and tends to have a variety of things. However, there is ALWAYS a long line and NEVER enough checkers. On several occasions, after going to the effort of finding my purchases, I have forsaken them and walked straight out of the store after seeing the check-out line. read more
