Pros: Great prices! I recently purchased $250 Teva boots for $39.00. Can't beat that! Love, love, love their prices. You do have to poke around the mess to find the good stuff. Cons: Almost always a mess. Expect staff to be rude. I think the attitude comes from the top, down. Avoid the bathroom! Ugh! Horrible..stinky...messy. Frankly, they need more space. Love the prices love the finds being a mom of 5 my money goes a long way there. Now I see many people complain about the store being clean or unclean. Let me say I have been in when they first open very good job on being clean went in later and saw why it gets messy. 90% of the customers leave things everywhere and I see employees scramble to keep it clean. Not employee fault but customers are horrible. Security is awesome at keeping the politely saying panhandlers away THANK YOU. Can't wait for my next shopping trip. We visit Redding for a break from ministry and rest. My wife and I visited Ross almost everyday of our ten days stay at the guest house we rented. She is very happy to bargain for good deal and I was very happy to see her happy. She dig through almost every corner of the store. We used Ross as our milestone to familiarize ourselves to the street of Redding. When we got lost in town we try to find Ross and from there we are able to drive home. Only one thing I would like to find out from Ross：what day of the week do you have new goods coming in? My wife would like to see new merchandise. read more

Hired for security guard services Craig & Craig security, Inc. I found the employees very warm and professional. Cleanest Ross store I ever seen. I heard many stories of security issues with shoplifters and the homeless that needed attention. I'm glad I had the opportunity to help out and make people feel safe to shop again. I love the feed back from customers and thank all who recognized the service that ROSS deserves for there customer base. I was expecting at least to be there for 7 to 10 days. However ROSS management blindsided me by terminating my services. I was unable to continue my service to ROSS and their wonderful customers. Thank you anyways for the 2 1/4 day opportunity. The other night, I came here looking for a nice dog bed. My daughter went in the adjacent isle, looking at journals. She found one that tickled her fancy quite a bit! It was pink, her favorite color! On our way to the register, we noticed some nicks and scuffs on the cover. I asked the cashier what kind of discount she could give me for a defective item. She said 5%. And since the book was only about $3, the discount was only .20 cents. Since my daughter didn't mind the scratches on the front, I purchased the book. A day or two later, I went back to return the book, since my daughter said she would never write in it. The lady at the register was the same one who rang up the book, the night before. She told me that I couldn't return it because all discounted items are final sale. However, no one told me that. The lady admitted that she did not inform me, like she was supposed to, that the item would be final sale. The security guard came over, and tried to explain that my reciept said "AS IS." I tried to tell him that "AS IS" does not mean "FINAL SALE." Then the Area Manager, Jesse, came over. He and I argued for some time, about how "AS IS" means I am purchasing it the way that it is, but "FINAL SALE" means I cant return it. I said, "As it does not mean final sale." He said, "Yes it does!" I said, "No it doesnt!" "Yes it does! "No it doesnt!" Back and forth. "What are we in the third grade?!" He was very adverse to giving me my money back, even after hearing the whole story. But I was very adamant about getting a refund. After a while he yelled, "Just give her back her stinkin money! I'm sick and tired of fighting with her!" Won't be shopping here again. read more

Went in and purchased some items under $25. The girl at the register was so rude. She said how are you payi g i said credit card. She said slide it and had not even rung up one item yet and was saying next. I said aren't you going to ask for my ID. She says no and pushes my stuff to the end of the counter and starts on the next person. Thank you so much for the horrible customer service and thank you for making me feel like cattle trying to rush me. Even spoke with a manager and it was no big deal. read more

New employee was very rude. Tonight, May 18 at 8:30 pm I simply took 2 items back that I didn't have time to try on. It was clearly their items. However, I only had the old receipt and 1 ross tag. She said it was not their items? How is that. I was told before that if I didn't have my receipt they could return if I had tags. I had one, she could have at least returned that. I live out of the area so it was not convenient. I called and spoke with the manager (her name started with an M) who said she has been there almost 7 years and she verified that if I had tags, they would return item, but took up for the employee and did not see my side at all. Also the other item had the name brand all over the tags and original tags and, the item was still in their store? The other tags for one of the items was not there, just the original tag. The Supervisor said $44 for pants? Of course, the items cost more in the stores. Both items were also in their store. The original price of course was not $44.00 but the ross price was less. So, I went home and did find the other tag, she still should have refunded the one item. The employee was very rude and treated me with a very condescending attitude, very very poor customer service. I was thinking about shopping here. The store In Rohnert Park, Chico, Marin is tops next to the Redding store. I am returning these 2 items and I will not even stop at this store again. What a terrible experience. There is NO customer service at this store. The nicest people are the security guards and door greeters, otherwise, I do not recommend shopping here unless you try everything on first. And watch that receipt, the numbers fade off in a few days and become unreadable. read more

Today I and my family went to Ross to do some Easter shopping.I got a few outfits to try on about 7 cause the limits 8.First the lady that does the clothes counting asked if I would put the hangers back on when done ,so ya no problem.I go in and there and see a bunch of tags ripped off of clothes from previous shoppers.So I go return the stuff I'm not keeping when done ,and told this young girl blonde brownish hair piercing in her nose or something that someone has been taking the tags off of clothes.She says um okay I'll let someone know,acted really weird,and then a guy walks past me I turn around she's talking to a lady and a guy with a ponytail and beard.Next thing I know I am being treated like the thief getting weird looks from this guy ,and practically being followed.The worst thing was I had to wait for my boyfriend ,cause he went to the dollar tree to get some eggs and candy stuff for easter,so I kept looking got impatient cause I felt so uncomfortable. Then I asked a lady up front with blonde hair if I could leave my stuff for a minute to grab him ,and the same lady that was in the back dark hair short ,interrupted and was very rude .I love this place but one day I come in with no make up ,and try to help them out by telling then that people are stealing and the girl who sees what they have on before they enter the dressing room ,should know if they are walking out with the stores merchandise.I am so offended,I spent hundreds of dollars in this place and total disrespect. My boyfriend said you should of talked to the manager ,but I was so mad I didn't want to screw up my chances of not getting to come back ,cause of the way I was treated. This has never happened to me at Ross before ,very disappointed. The only woman and person I give total respect to is the security guard that worked the later shift blonde hair wares back in ponytail ,very understanding ,and very nice. She might not work inside the store but maybe she should cause that woman would make it a better place. Ive known people or employees that have worked at Ross to let there friend's walk out with almost anything and I'm telling ,some of those employees don't deserve to represent that company,just saying. The management personnel need to be trained on how they handle customer service issues, was not impressed with how they handled my transaction. The worst Ross. Long lines, slow cashiers, store smells like urine and mold. Every time I go I regret it. They never have the store stocked. Bare shelves every where. They have really raised their prices, but have done nothing to improve the store or customer service. Maybe they should have those security guards do check outs so customers don't have to wait 30 minutes in line. The management must be terrible there. Where is corporate? Came in and saw employees just standing around with bare isles everywhere and people waiting in line. Shop elsewhere if possible. read more

Yes this store use to be pretty ghetto but I must say that it has improved 100%! I hadn't been in several months. Obviously you can't improve the area it's in, which is next to KMART & The dollar store, A lot of druggies and or homeless people are usually around but the store itself is nice & neat! So organized inside now! You can tell they got someone in there to straighten the place up & boy did they! The staff is nice, even an employee who was on their break greeted me. read more

I called about an item I had saw just the day before asking if it was still there because I was interest, the lady who answered said that the line was busy and to call back in such an unprofessional way. I felt the customer service was absolutely poor and there could have been a better way to have handled that.
