On August 14th 2025 I made a purchase for 70$ and I bought a hairbrush straightener on clearance for 11$. I got home and opened the box and it was empty. I called ross the next day and told them my situation and I was told to call on Sunday to speak to a manager. I'll start by saying you can find great deals here, however the quality of the clothing (as compared to other stores) has declined over the years. I'm a middle aged, middle income, well dressed woman, but they make me feel like they see me as a potential shoplifter rather than a valued customer. The greeting I get at the door feels like I am being profiled rather than welcomed. The dressing rooms and restroom (when they allow you to use it) are invariable dirty. And the staff in general are not terribly friendly. The aisles are so narrow it's uncomfortably close to pass someone. They should take a look at how other stores like TJ Max and Marshalls are doing the same thing with a much nicer shopping experience. And maybe find someone new to train their employees in customer service. read more

Beyond rude employees who profiled me beyond walking in. Tell me why I just walked into the store to look at purses and before you know it the large bodied secruity guard with glasses walks past me multiple times and even was whispering something the first time? I was literally just looking at the Columbia puffer jacket I saw mind you, doing nothing wrong when he whispered whatever he did. As well as this, the people I had came with told me the employees were staring at me and whispering in eachother's ears. Also, once a group of people came in, I heard the female manager loudly complaning. So LOUDLY! Seriously the female manager today was so loud about her complaints. Purchased a blouse a couple weeks ago for 9.- It didn't fit so I brought it back today with the tags still attached in a ross bag. Thought the receipt was in the bag but it wasn't. I told the cashier store credit was just fine. She rang it up and said she could give me 53 cents store credit because it had been marked down. I have never seen anything on the racks at Ross for 53cents. They don't allow you to try anything on in the store still. What a complete scam. Guess it doesn't pay to be an honest customer. This location appears to get the leftovers! Found a nice Armani men's sweater for $29.99 but wrong size. Spoke with the fitting room attendant if perhaps she could look up the SKU to see if they had others. I was told that they couldn't do that and basically I doubt if we have any others. Was informed Ross does in fact get limited items and not all sizes. Found a pair of Nikes that fit and looked perfect on. However, there was no price tag and front desk said they couldn't sell them with no tag. Totally disappointed!! I seriously believe the young clerk wanted to buy them for herself. I Went during my lunch hour to return one item...fifth person in line...one cashier...the two ladies in front of me had two carts full of clothing and shoes. I politely asked another worker who was lining cookies on the shelf if they had another cashier available...She replied with a flat NO and turned her back to me.. I waited a few more minutes and realized the transaction before me was going to take at least another 10 minutes (Id already waited 10 minutes) so decided a return of a $14 item could wait and I left the store. I will go to the Cypress store to make my return...when they see the line building they immediately call all cashiers up front. Much better managed...I will not be returning to this store. read more

I haven't been to this part of Redding before... and it's quite different from the rest of town. The private parking lot was mostly empty when we came here in the early evening. Hardly anyone was at the store and the store had 3 cashiers working the registers. Compared to Bay Area Ross stores, I'd say that this location offers a better variety of clothing and shoes without a ton of people sifting through them. The electronics section, though, is questionable because there were several packages for iPhone cases that were already opened (the products were still inside, no worries). Loss Prevention security guard was up in front. I guess they're concerned people might be stealing stuff? read more

I will never be back to any Ross. During this time of covid I have no idea how this nasty place remains in business. All I can think of is this company is like the surviving cockroach after the apocalypse. First off, who shops for their stock? Everything is ugly except the towels and some of the rugs. They look like they came from the Tijuana swap meet? Like others have reviewed, our brand new store in Redding, is already a sloppy cluttered mess. Once again the aisles of clothing are too close to push an empty cart through. Two people looking for clothing have to bump butts to pass each other. It seemed like whatever I picked up was either dirty. Torn or had gross makeup around the collar. Now on to the worst staff ever. There were twelve people in line and two lowlifes with what was probably a stolen credit card had filled two carts with the most random mix of bazaar items. The cashier took her time and kept stopping and chattering with these two. She stopped to explain how she planned to double bag everything so nothing was broken. And the line kept getting longer. I was next in line and asked if there was another person that could open another register. I was told "She" was at lunch. It took forever but finally what looked like a manager came out. Saw the line and told the cashier she should have called for help. Then three more employees came out of the back room. I was at the register at this point and asked why this snotty cashier had led me to believe there were only two people on duty and as I expected, she was snotty and says "We have to eat". . I just looked her in the eye and said, "Really, thats your answer". I told her, I for one would not return. I have been shopping at this Ross store for years today my 3 year old needed to use the restroom reLly bad and I wasn't finished shopping yet so I asked if we can use the restroom the lady rudely said they were closed I politely said " but my three year old needs to go bad and can't hold it any more" she was atill rude and said her manager had closed the restrooms at 4:00pm I go up from and ask to speak to a manager and I politely let him know I understand restrooms are closed but my three year old can't hold it and he replies " I can't let her in" and leaves, I leave a cart full of stuff I was going to purchase and walk out I was so upset and my daughter didn't understand why ahe couldn't use the restroom. read more

I really love shopping at Ross they have great values I also can shop at Macy's Nordstrom's all the other great stores I love but I went to Hawaii and had bought these two bathing suits and I didn't try them on in the store so we're just a little too small. So I decided to just wear the swimsuit I had them when I came home I try to return him at the Ross on hilltop Dana was my sales person . Not nice me and my husband were waiting in line in the return line and the lady said do you have a return and I said yes I do I have said nicely and they're from Hawaii and they didn't fit and then she started to tell me that there was a tag missing from the bottom and I explain that that's how I bought it it had the tag the merchandising tag from the supplier on it in the panty liner that comes with most bathing suits were attached to and she kept giving me a hard time and I told her that's how I bought it and she explained that her policy was that I guess they had to have another tag on the bottom I said that wasn't my problem why I don't work at Ross to put another ticket on there and so she goes well I'm not gonna argue with you and she kept going back-and-forth and back-and-forth with me and my husband was there too and he said you know that's not our problem you know we bought it like that and then she started going again and so I asked to speak to her manager and I did I told her I didn't like the way she was talking to me in front of everybody the whole line was right there you can hear everything she saying that she was going to argue with me I'm very disappointing because I go to Ross every week to see what's new so I asked the manager for her name and I told her I was going to yelp and she says something sarcastic so her name is Dana and I believe that I hope that the manager would have a conversation with her she's working with the public not to fight with them because you have no control of what tags are put on in the store in Hawaii an no control over that I bought it I was a manager for many many years and number one was giving great customer service so I just wanna give some feedback read more

Love the deals but last time I went in they told me the bathrooms were closed to the public (you already have to be buzzed in) I am 39 weeks pregnant and was trying to pick up a few items. This describes every Ross experience of my existence so far. But todaaaay... going through line, getting rung up-- what charms she had, what accessories she had! What a pretty and sweet natured clerk-- Rachel! We talked unicorns and pegasii ( which we all know is the plural of pegasus) and bonded over accessories in general. I did not see one toy, blouse, picture frame, shoe, pillow, purse, or anything thing for that matter on the floor here. Ross is totally low budget and the quality of the products have just went totally down stuff with make up stains and lord knows what other stains and holes in items packaging opened also I was told by a Security guard I could not bring my Starbucks in there if that is the case they need to have that post it on the door it other places for people to see because I think it's a big inconvenience for a person to get in the store and then be told not to bring Their drink inside and have to go all the way back to the car just to put it there I know I won't be shopping in there anymore not worth the hassle read more

I like this shop. I usually can find good deal clothes or decor. I brought my sisters to shop together; we all enjoy in the treasure hunt. The guard there is very nice to wait my car pull over and carried all my stuff to my trunk when I need help and greet me with friendly compliments and smile. We recieved poor customer service. The cashier was balling up my clothes. I told her that I didn't want a bag. So she tossed them on the counter while rolling her eyes while huffing & puffing. She worked the register near the door in the evening on 7/19. Before we walked in the store security followed us in the store & stood there staring @ us like we were not wanted. I am a caregiver that was shopping w/my disabled son. I also take care of my handicapped husband. I have never experienced this kind of treatment @ any Ross location. Stopped by Dunkin Donuts to grab a quick cold drink on my way to Ross. Arrived at Ross and asked to leave the store because I had a drink. REALLY?!?! Is it that huge of an issue to have a drink in the Palm Desert area where it is so hot? I AM an adult. That's ok, happy to spend my $$$ elsewhere! I shop at Ross VERY regularly (almost exclusively) for clothes and home decor etc. never have I been asked to leave for having a drink. I love this store and shop here often. It is a treasure-hunting discount store so don't expect a high-end full-service atmosphere. Come to search for incredible deals on home decor, bedding, towels, lamps, mirrors, kitchen stuff, purses, luggage, etc. Good clothing can be found if you spend plenty of time weeding out the "no thanks" options. I have always found the staff to be courteous and I very much appreciate the security guard outside the door keeping an eye on the parking lot and discouraging transients. I feel safe, which says a lot in Redding these days. I would give 5 stars if the bathroom and dressing rooms were cleaner. Thank you Ross for serving my retail therapy and budget needs! Note: This review is for the brand new location in the new shopping area on Churn Creek Rd. near the Bonneyview overpass (In & Out, Save Mart, Starbucks, etc.). I stopped going to the Hilltop Dr. location many years ago because the store had become so rundown. I was hoping for a brand new, clean, organized store. Sadly, not much, if anything, has changed in the way merchandise is presented. I gave it 2 stars only because I found a gorgeous, oversized, Christmas themed throw pillow for the sofa. An excellent price for a very well made item. Unfortunately, the store is BRAND NEW, and in the same shabby shape as the old location. Shipping boxes piled on the jewelry display cases (blocking customer's view of merchandise), clothes on the floor under the racks, hangars haphazardly sticking out of the racks, merchandise boxes just piled on the shelf in the electronics department...etc. Nothing organized or grouped in a way to improve the shopper's experience (meaning more sales). I asked one employee for help, she said she would get someone, walked back to the other young gal she was talking to earlier, they spoke, looked back at me and just turned their backs, kept talking, and ignored me. It was kind of funny. I finally walked over to the original employee and asked if she was getting someone to help me? She finally said she didn't know who to get. Omg, I felt sorry for her because it seemed like she hadn't had 1 bit of training. It was not busy and they were just chatting away amongst themselves. As they used to say, "Time to lean - time to clean." There was so much that needed to be done! Anyways, there still seem to be some hidden gems if you're willing to dig for them. This Ross has had better deals in the past. They have also had better products. All of this is well and good...but...dear God, do not look at the customer bathroom! The women's bathroom looks and smells like it has been mopped with urine and dirt. There are mop swirls! If THAT wasn't enough, there is blood, feces and graffiti all over the stalls. Last time I HAD to go there (emergency) the women's bathroom had caution tape and the men's bathroom had a piece of paper with a handwritten "Unisex Bathroom" note. All well and good...yet, this bathroom had NO outside lock and a urinal right next to a single stall. As a woman, I find it offensive that I may unknowingly walk into a "Unisex Bathroom" and see a guy pissing as I walk in...or out. This Ross is totally GROSS! read more

Racial profiling at its finest !!! I have shopped at this location for years and has been a regular customer without any issues until I was followed and Spyed on down different isles while shopping by they're loss prevention lady named Tanya who is now a manager , I had enough and finally made a complaint , called her out for her discrimination and since then this woman has treated me with such disrespect and obvious prejudice every time I go in there .. during this whole COVID period I notice they do not follow state mandate rules sanitation and requirements for customers to wear masks while shopping , my last time in the store I had to use a mask to wipe down my cart with hand sanitizer because the loss prevention lady who is also supposed to greet you and point out the sanitation area to clean the carts could hardly speak any English to do so but yelled at me that I had 30 min til closing and also spoke to me rudely because I used a throw away mask and hand sanitizer to wipe down the cart instead of asking her for a sanitation wipe that should have been offered when she was supposed to politely greet me as I entered the establishment and again failed to do so . Because I had politely told this employee that she was very rude to me and could have better customer service I apparently committed some type of crime or broke some type of Ross policy that I had no idea even existed because on my next visit this manager Tanya who I had previously mentioned watched me walk in allowed me to shop for almost one hour and then called the cops on me to escort me out of the store and the officer said I was not allowed to shop there anymore or I would be trespassing!!!!!! I was humiliated and treated like a criminal I am a registered nurse and I have no criminal record. I was never asked to leave the store nor was I aware that I was not allowed to shop there. I have heard from different customers and employees this particular manager singles out a certain group and type of people and she harasses them they feel super uncomfortable shopping there and have had issues with her in the past I have reached out to that particular locations general manager and I have not received a phone call back I do plan on taking further action but I just want to make everyone beware of what they might deal with while shopping here.. especially if your a person of color . read more

I really want to like this store, but I pretty much have given up. They sometimes have good household items, but not often enough for me to come here regularly. It seems like they never carry good pants for thin petite women. Unless I want skinny jeans and slacks with no pockets. I feel like the selection had really gone downhill in the last five years. I also feel a bit intimidated by the employees. I have on two different occasions been followed or watched through the store. I'd rather shop somewhere else. read more

I just attempted to return an item to Ross that I bought yesterday. When entering the store I had to join the same long line I stood in to purchase the item. 20 min later at the register the clerk told me because the tag was not attached I could not return it! Even with a receipt! The tags were placed in the way of trying this item on so zi had to take it home to try it on. I will not return to this store.
