Security takes your photo as soon as you walk in. If they think you look like a shoplifter, you will get another closeup taken within 2 mins. They will hunt you down and rudely walk down the aisle you are on and shout excuse me to make you look at the camera they are wearing and holding on their body. It's an extreme invasion of comfort. Don't expect a fun trip. read more

Ross Dress for Less - Department Stores Near Me - Ukiah, California

I have a very good friend who resides in the same city as this Ross store. He is disabled with a chronic illness, and he's on medications that make him sensitive to the sun. So he has taken to enjoying walking around Ross, while shopping he gets exercise. He found some cool Mario toys, and his wife was with him but in a separate area of the store. My friend wanted to show his wife the toys. This security card singled him out and gruffed aggressively "don't do it man" and my friend questioned him, and the security guard repeated himself. My friend returned today because he was hoping this security guard wouldn't be there so he could walk around and browse the store. The security guard spoke in a different language to some other employees and they started following him around. My friend has never stolen anything in his life, and he most certainly has done nothing to warrant being singled out by this security guard. He is a disabled man who used to enjoy Ross and was a loyal customer. He will be finding a new place to shop, somewhere where he isn't discriminated against or judged harshly. He's literally about 120lbs soaking wet due to his illness, and felt extremely intimidated by this awful security guard. If you're disabled, avoid this store to make sure you're not discriminated against. read more

I'm absolutely floored. My friend who is disabled always walks around there because he's sensitive to the sun. He went 2 days in a row and was harassed by the security guard. Even though the value of items is good. Which he also shops there because there is a large selection. How dare you harass my friend who is disabled and literally had nothing on him. He doesn't carry a purse. So why does this security guard single him out. Today the guy talked a different language to these Hispanic girls and they started following him. What is wrong with him. My friend Is by far anyone to cause problems. Now you lost 2 customers. If anything there will be a harassment charge if this security guard doesn't have a job. You are not allowed to discriminate a disabled person. My thoughts is how you treat your customers is how you enjoy your job. How many other people who go there that is harassed. Do better. This is by far the worst Ross I've ever been to. There are always clothes and other items littering the floor! It's worse around the holidays! The reason they got 3 stars from me is that their inventory is decent. Not so much their clothing choices but their housewares, linens, and luggage is acceptable. The staff is very young and obviously would rather be somewhere else. They aren't highly knowledgeable about their store or their own policies. Go there for sure but be prepared for a mess and not enough staff to clean it and keep it clean!! read more

Products are ok. Some staff is good, some staff is rude and some staff can't understand my questions. Kimberly a mid-30's check out clerk seems a bit ageist I only saw her smile or say anything pleasant to her fellow workers and the 20 somethings that went through her line, feeling a need to look cool to the younger crowd? would have been nice if she could have said anything pleasant "did you find what you were looking for", "hello", "thank you", or "have a nice day", I guess Me and my kids are in the wrong age groups to be worthy of anything but: "want a bag", and "you owe $47.95". A truly unpleasant worker, maybe she'd be better hanging up clothes or something where customer interaction isn't a required activity. read more

I went in today to get some Christmas items. Worst decision. The racks were so jammed in I couldnt get a cart through them much less walk through. EVERY ISLE in the store was heavily covered with toys,cloths ,decorations. And not a single employee stopped to pick up a thing. One female employee even stepped over several items and kept walking. There is not enough staff present to help customers, check out ,clean up the store, or even answer questions. After a 20 min wait in line we were.finally done. I do NOT recommend shopping at this location. I will NOT be returning. read more

Staff was ok but this store is a MESS! Merchandise everywhere all over the floor and isles.

Stopped shopping at this Ross. Every time I shop at this Ross, it drains my soul. Maybe it's all the homeless, maybe it's the security guard stationed at the front entrance, or the dirty dressing rooms, or the fact that they just assume you're trying to steal clothes that you just want to try on. The only thing missing is a tall, bullet-proof pane between you and the cashier. On our last trip, we picked up a pair of FILA shoes for our son, and both shoes started to fall apart within 2 weeks. I realize that these are not the best shoes, but if they only last 2 weeks, it's more of a scam being perpetrated on the consumer than an actual, viable product. We took them in and showed the manager. "We believe these shoes are defective," we said. "We don't offer refunds on used items," she replied. "But... how else can we know they are defective, but to use them?" we reasoned. "Perhaps your son was too hard on them," she suggested. "BOTH shoes broke in the same place, in just two weeks, when his last pair lasted him 9 months," we responded. "It's not our son, it's the shoes." She continued to insist they didn't give refunds, and we continued insist that shoes shouldn't fall apart after 2 weeks. Eventually she conceded and offered a refund... which was odd... considering they don't offer refunds (we can only conclude she had lied). Anyway, that's enough of this Ross for us. They assume the worst about their customers, and it shows. We have better luck at Kohl's. Their prices are just as reasonable, it's cleaner, it's easier to find what you want, and they don't make you feel like a criminal for wanting to try something on (or return something). read more

I was visiting from Sacramento and decided to come here on a Sunday evening. This store was very crowded. You couldn't even get down most of the aisles to look at anything. There was merchandise all over the floor thrown everywhere. I wanted to get out of that store ASAP. I have never experienced any of the Ross stores in Sacramento like that. Good for: designer tennies, dog beds, an occasional odd ball interesting art statue or piece of furniture, quality but mismatched pots and pans, towells, cheap clothes that look like s*** after being laundered, friendly and helpful staff when you can find one, goofy weird stuff, cheap house design junk that mimics the real deal desighner things found in Nordstrom and Macy's. HATE that you cant bring shopping carts outside. But over all still a very fun place to go shopping. They won't let you take the carts outside because the homeless steal them. So, you have to carry your items bit by bit to your car parked outside. Also, there is no room on the counter after they ring stuff up, so you have to dump it back in your cart and hope you don't get double charged by forgetting it was already rung up. read more
