It is pretty & has great walking/biking trails but it has way too many overgrown areas that seem unsafe to me. Way too many places you can "disappear" in this inner city park. Plus, the water is not flowing, there is no water fountain, not that I saw & there are way too many bugs bc of the stagnant water. One day I was there, it was raining & it was flooding all over. So the park doesn't have good drainage. Maybe that's why all the bugs & mosquitoes. Either way, it's not the best one I have found by far. There are far more better options/safer options in the area. When I learned that the Trail is 28 miles long it blew me away. The commitment to build and maintain this fantastic walk/run/bike trail is stupendous! I have only been on a small section of the trail, but that's enough to be really impressed not only by the trail, but also by the friendliness of the people using it.

I took my kid there yesterday around noon, so he could get a distance run in with less traffic. He's an experienced runner but did not enjoy! I assume the trail was created for dog / walkers, runners and pedal bikers. We did see a few dog / walkers and many pedal bikers which were no issue. We saw at least 30 e-bikes, with a decent portion of them driving way too fast. It's not a trail when motorized vehicles are allowed, it's a road. Only in Florida! Won't be back.

The entire process was extremely understaffed, disorganized, and poorly managed. There appeared to be only two teenage staff members trying to manage and serve more than 20 people at once. They were clearly overwhelmed and should never have been placed in that position without adequate management support. Staff claimed there was no line, despite there clearly being three separate lines of customers waiting. Kids were repeatedly cutting in front of others with no organization or crowd control, and the situation eventually resulted in adults yelling at children--which is completely unacceptable in a family-oriented establishment. After waiting an unreasonable amount of time just to get my son something to drink, I finally had to go directly to management to obtain a beverage for him. What was even more frustrating was that when I raised my concerns, they were essentially dismissed rather than acknowledged or addressed. At that point, the issue was no longer simply about slow service; it became about how a legitimate customer concern was handled. Thankfully, aside from being left parched while waiting, my son still managed to enjoy himself, which was the one positive takeaway from the experience. I was seriously considering having my son's birthday party here, but after today, that is very much in question. If two teenagers are expected to handle more than 20 customers without adequate support, and concerns brought directly to management are dismissed, I have serious reservations about trusting the facility to properly handle a birthday party or other busy event. I will be contacting the general manager directly regarding what occurred. I am also requesting a response from management addressing the inadequate staffing, lack of organization and crowd control, and particularly the way my concerns were handled when I attempted to resolve the situation in person. This was our worst experience here to date, and I hope the general manager takes these concerns seriously and addresses what needs to change.

The only issue is people who walk their dogs do not pick up after them leaving their poop behind. The city also has done the favor of putting porta-potties which need to be cleaned constantly because its oder comes out horribly. I don't know if there can be a police officer patrolling the area in a golf cart or on foot keeping citizens safe at all times.

"Discovering" this new (to me!!) hidden gem illustrates why as much as I'm turning into a "lone…read morewolf" these days (or so it seems...) every now and then, ESPECIALLY when you're spending time with locals, it PAYS to follow their lead and go where they suggest. My SIL has lived in the area for years, and knowing how much I love exploring nature near and far, she recommended a visit to this gem of a park only 10-15 minutes from her home. PERFECT choice!! We didn't have a ton of time, but squeezed in a FINE early morning walk around the lake, and I confess I slowed her down taking TONS of pictures (as usual...) because even though it's far from "wilderness," it's a great spot to see lots of nature and wildlife (no alligators this visit!!) and get away from the hustle and bustle normally part of my visit down to the Clearwater area. So many beautiful birds!! There's a well-marked trail around the lake, passing by picnic areas, playgrounds, disc golf courses, and more. Wish I had more time to explore, but at least I know where to go to "decompress" next time I'm down in this area. Definitely worth a visit... Enjoy!!
