Music from my teen days and roller skating actually turned out to be loads of fun! We were here for a private event (wedding!!) on Sunday night. Bummer was that being at the end of the day, it was a mess. The staff was cleaning the whole time (I felt bad for them), but it just wasn't a pretty sight. The place has potential to be such a hit, but it needs a serious makeover. Bathrooms are pretty rough, and the carpet has clearly seen better days. I can just imagine how cool it could be with a fresh modern take! All that said, we had such a blast!!!

I came here this weekend for a birthday party with my son and we had a great time! They were organized with announcing when things were happening and had different activities to do for the kids. They had the hokey pokey in the middle, sing happy birthday for the kids in the middle of the skate rink, limbo, dance party in a separate room, inflatable for the kids to bounce on and some of the staff was dressed in super hero outfits. We also got a free skate pass for next time we come back. They have skates to rent and also helpers for kids just learning how to skate. The food is very reasonable for $2 & $3 for drinks $6 pitchers of soda, Slushies, slice of pizza for $3, 5 wings for $5 and a couple more items. Signs around the place had different deals like every Wednesday teachers and up to 4 get in free. Saturday's are family night for up to 5 people to skate for $20 from 6:30-8:30

I had such a great time here! We came for Sunday afternoon skate which is ONLY ONE DOLLAR from 3-5. The skate rentals are 3-4 dollars depending on if you want to upgrade to a speed or online skate. Definitely worth the extra dollar to upgrade. It was very busy when we came. I liked how they had different activities like dancing, racing, couples skate, backwards skate, lights off skate, and adults only skate. The atmosphere was fun and the music was loud and a good selection of songs. We even completed the experience by trying food from the concession stand and we were amazed at how good the pizza was! It was divine! The funnel cake fries weren't anything to write home about but that pizza hit the spot. I want to come back for another skate session!

    Skating fun!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! My kid's school used to do skate parties after school a few times a year and all the kids loved it! This is the 1st place my kid's ever skated. They would've never tried it if it weren't for the school trips. I haven't skated since I was in my teens but I was a very avid skater. Thanks to astro skate I'm now skating again and I enjoy it so much. I didn't realize how much I missed it! I seriously get nostalgic over this skating rink because it brings back so many great memories from my youth. Anytime we've gone here we have a wonderful experience. They are always doing fun different things to keep everyone entertained and involved. I love the dollar skate on Sunday and all the other themed skates they do. I'm just so happy that they still have skating rinks like this around! Such a great place to have fun, you won't be disappointed!

Good place to practice your moves and grooves. I would recommend Skate World in Town N Country for less crowds.

Food prices, kids are going for a field trip? How much should I send them with?

sorry this was a while ago! there are a lot of games as well so I would consider at least 15 to 20 bucks. I'm sure you know that now but I wanted to give you an answer... Skating is a sister sport to ice so please keep coming and inquire about it… Read more

I don't know if this is typical but when I went there there was more for the kids to do than just roller skate such as dances, face painting and limbo.

There are so many different levels of play for the kids, from their in house Rex teams, to the new metro style travel team, to their national travel team. There's something for every age level. Plus, the have an amazing program called Learn to Play where they have teamed up with the Tampa Bay Lightning and provide all the equipment and gear for first time players under the age of 8 so they can learn the game! You just pay a low fee for the ice time for the 8 week program! It really is an amazing opportunity for kids! Only downside is the building itself. The "pro" rink is the newest rink and it's really nice, but the older rink! Next to the front of the building, the "Lightning" rink, is literally falling apart. Ceiling insulation has fallen off and into the rink from time to time and they just duct tape it back up and in the bleachers you are constantly being dropped on by god know what. Kinda gross, but parents do what we gotta do to watch our kids succeed! Plus the lack of parking is sometimes a nightmare, so get there early for games!

Clearwater Ice Arena is not remarkable in its physical appearance. It's very run of the mill. An aging facility with so-so ice surfaces. But if you've skated on ice in any rink outside of a big hockey market they're all pretty similar. Little known fact outside of hockey communities is that rinks have a soul. And that is determined by the people that comprise the community. The skaters, players, refs and staff (from the front desk to the pro shop and the Zamboni drivers to the skate rentals). Clearwater Ice Arena has a great soul. The people and the community is wonderful and inviting. Unfortunately you won't discover that in a two hour open skate.

We've been to some rinks around here and the floor is really greasy/oily. If you know, you know that really makes it hard to fully maintain full control when turning and cutting. We also really appreciated that they had a little corner of the floor tucked away for the little skaters. Our little one loved it over there as an escape from the crowd and more experienced skaters. Also, in the larger sizes they had some really nice roller hockey style inline skates. I don't think there are enough of those to cover all sizes, but if you are lucky enough to get a pair, they definitely looked legit. We'll definitely be back to this location again. The DJ also played a good mix of old school vs new school music.

Unfortunately, our experience hosting a birthday party at Astro Skate was very disappointing. We booked a party for my granddaughter's 8th birthday, reserving space for up to 20 children. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess, Dorthy, who informed us she would be assigned to our party. Four tables were reserved for us, which was appreciated, though they were not set up at the time. Since the party was not scheduled to begin until 3:30, this was not initially an issue, especially as I had brought themed tablecloths from a birthday kit I purchased separately. Once the party began, we realized that our hostess had not returned since our initial check-in. When guests began asking for drinks, the stepfather went to locate her. She eventually brought five pitchers of drinks, but no cups. When cups were requested, only five were provided. Thankfully, I had brought cups as part of the birthday kit. We next saw the hostess when she asked whether I wanted pizza for 16 children (the number who attended) or the full 20 originally reserved. Since the pricing is based on the number of children who attend, I did not understand why ordering pizza for 20 would be necessary or beneficial, as it would have resulted in paying extra for minimal additional food. I confirmed pizza for 16 children. The pizza took a very long time to arrive. When the stepfather checked on the delay, he learned that our pizzas had mistakenly been delivered to another party and had to be remade. Once the pizza finally arrived, drinks again ran out, and we had to seek out staff ourselves for refills. After the children finished eating, we handled most of the cleanup ourselves, including clearing trash and returning empty pizza pans to the snack bar. At this point, I attempted to speak with a manager. The employee at the front stated she would notify the manager, but no one came. I later learned the manager was DJing and approached him directly. He appeared genuinely surprised that our hostess had been absent and that we had been handling the responsibilities ourselves. Someone was briefly sent over to assist. Trash was removed, drinks were refilled, and an extra pizza tray (from an additional pizza we purchased for adults) was cleared. After that, once again, no staff were present. The next and final time we saw our hostess was when it was time to settle the bill. In total, we paid approximately $300, which seemed to cover little more than 16 admissions and two pizzas. Given the lack of service, it would have been far more cost-effective to simply have everyone meet us there rather than booking a party package. We did the majority of the work ourselves, including cleanup and repeatedly seeking out drinks. The purpose of assigning a hostess is unclear if they are not present or providing assistance throughout the event. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet expectations for a hosted birthday party.

This is a good place for a birthday party…read more My daughter had a birthday party at United Skates, and I thought it was a pretty good experience, but I didn't like how disorganized the skate rentals were, and the metal detector at the entrance was a bit intimidating. This fall, we have been to two birthday parties at SkateWorld, and I think they were significantly superior to the party at United Skates. Better neighborhood (no metal detector), easy skate rentals, easier check in. Food was similarly bad (looking - I didn't taste), but there were more options to order if you wanted something other than pizza (they had wings, sandwich platters, etc.). If my daughter decides on a skating party in the future, we'll be coming to SkateWorld rather than returning to United Skates. My only concern is the parking situation. There's no problem for the Sunday parties, but on a Saturday, there really isn't enough parking for the venue capacity.
