My toe nail had grown deeply under my skin causing unbearable pain and an infection. Dr. Brieloff placed me on a medication to fight the infection and scheduled me for a procedure the following week. I was nervous because my toe hurt so pain that I couldn't imagine how he could perform on my toe without my kicking and screaming. Dr. Brieloff was able to numb my toe completely and I literally felt no pain at all! The procedure was quick, painless and my toe began to heal very quickly following the procedure. Turns out I was misdiagnosed - I didn't have a neuroma which is what he gave me 9 injections for. The MRI that my next doctor ordered showed that there was no neuroma! So why the injections, which didn't work. When I received my 9th injection, knowing that 10 was the recommended limit, and still thinking that I had a neuroma, I asked, "is it time to consider surgery?" To which Dr. Dieboldt replied, "You need to think positively!! It leads to better outcomes." Really? If 9 injections didn't work, why would you be so naive to think that a 10th injection would do the trick? I quit his practice after that visit. He also had an insole/orthotic customized for me - but my current doctor told me that this insole is useless, and I've had to order a new insole that was molded to my foot. Fortunately I can think for myself and determine when I'm being given incorrect or patronizing advice. I wasted 9 months and $$ on this practice.

Fast forward months later, I see that there's a lab claim on my insurance for $1,500+ and that it's my full responsibility. How can this be, if I went to in-service medical provider? Well, apparently this provider only uses one lab called bio-reference lab unless explicitly expressed by the patient to use another. This is the most backwards ass thing I have ever experienced. How can you as a provider not do your due diligence to see where my lab work needs to go? Why is that my responsibility. Why wait for some nonsense like this to happen, when you could tackle the issue on the front end? Now there's a huge possibility that I have to pay this large bill for SIMPLE LAB work because office assistants don't want to go the extra mile to check. It's disgusting as hell and I know this issue is a massive problem within the American Healthcare itself. Providers need to do better. I'm a 23 year old woman that is new to the healthcare insurance enrollment period (that typically occurs in September/October) so if you refer back to my date of service you could see that this is months into using my new insurance after being on my parents. Why must people advocate for themselves when providers should be doing their damn jobs to make sure things like this don't happen. I had one of the office assistants tell me that they don't check the specific labs that will accept a patients lab work. WELL, I'm requiring and urging you all to implement better practices within your office. There's no way WORKING PEOPLE should be stressed about paying medical bills due to your error and lack of care. I pray I am able to beat this, and that nobody comes after me later down the road. I'm simply not coming back here. I'm sure the doctors here do great work, but it was the lack of care from this office that has made me very very cautious of where I go now.

Making him our family doc was the best decision we ever made. He is INCREDIBLY approachable; you never feel rushed, he takes the time to answer all questions big and small -- and over all just seems to go the extra mile, and REALLY & TRULY CARE about his patients. PCPs/General practitioner family docs are a dying breed. To find a PCP that is a sole practitioner, not in a large medical group is EXTREMELY rare, if not basically extinct these days. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference to have a doc, where you are HIS patient rather than just another number to a random group practice. The gold ol' days of medicine are almost gone and it is just so amazing that Dr. Maslen is still there. All the pressures in medicine today push, if not force docs to sell their practices and join these large medical groups-- costs, insurance, etc are the culprit here. We are just so thankful to have a doctor that loves what he does and endures the incredible pressures to retain his independent sole practice. Idk..
