I had supper this evening at Rossano's Italian Grill with Elaine, my pal from university, and her husband, Bill (they live in Moncton). Stephanie started us off with some bread. What I love about this place is the cheap wine! That's the way it should be - decent wine for a decent price! I'm so over paying $9 -$12 for a 6oz glass of wine with dinner! Every menu needs something cheap and cheerful! We split a lobster ravioli ( mediocre for $9) and a chicken pizza which I thought was delicious and it was even better left over. The other entrees at the table were enormous portions, like enough for three meals. I probably wouldn't come here for one of those huge pasta dishes, but it great to have an affordable family option in the Moncton area. Warm and inviting atmosphere and family owned. read more

Not being from the Moncton NB area we decided to go with our trusted friend Yelp!!! Needless to say Yelp didn't disappoint... the service was the best we have encountered in a long time. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. What a great surprise was that a healthy glass of Chardonnay cost $2.95!!! Not a typo... While waiting for your food the waitress brought out a tray of four different breads to choose from and two different dipping sauces for the bread to be dipped in. The meal arrives piping hot and every last bite was delicious! Just when you are thinking you can't have another bite... the temptress or pardon me.. the waitress comes along with a tray laden with 5 choices for dessert! Funny when the waitress rhymes off the desserts you have no problem passing on it.. so when you are staring at a tray of freshly cut dessert it's another story... I weakened but I did get two forks for the Carmel cream pie!!! Sorry so long but it was a delightful experience all round and it will be a " go to" restaurant when in Moncton!! read more

I walked in for some takeout, and was greeted quickly. They had a few suggestions (I only wanted a few appetizers) and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The BBQ Chicken Nachos, although unconventional, were fantastic! Chicken, light cheese, onions, scallions and bbq sauce over chips? The mix was perfect. The other dish I left with was the Goat Fingers. It's a goat cheese flatbread pizza with light Italian seasoning and green onion. Fantastic! The prices are fairly average, the decor is great, and the staff was extremely pleasant. I may go tomorrow for lunch. :D read more

Look, it's just good. Friendly folks. Quick service. Clear menu. When one if the tenants of the owners is to scoff at glasses of wine that cost more than the meal, you know it's a straight up place. (Wine is about $3 per glass -- still insanely profitable). I had spaghetti and meatballs -- very good. Pasta and sauce were great. House salad was very nice -- lots of good stuff and a good house dressing. A relaxing, friendly place with good Italian food. I'd recommend it. read more

Perfect! Best surf & turf I've ever had. In and out in about an hour. Reasonably priced. Wait staff were great. Ordered garlic fingers and fries for our 4 year old son from the kids menu: portion size was huge. The pre-meal bread they served us was literally the best bread I have ever eaten. My only negative comment would be that they served an extremely hot plate to my 4 yrs old son but the table was big enough that we simply moved the dish away from him and transferred his food to a bread plate. Though we were eating early (5pm), there were few empty tables. Despite being busy, food and service were still fantastic. Look forward to our next visit. read more

Some co-workers and I were on the lookout for something different for dinner during a work trip. I'd seen this place on the way in and we decided to check it out on a whim. I guess since we had no expectations, it didn't take much to impress us, but we were nonetheless. It's a lot larger inside than the strip mall corner restaurant appears when you look at it from outside. It's got a recognizable Italian feel, with textured walls, plush booths, and warm lighting. I thought it was part of a chain, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out it was a family operated business that prides itself on fresh, local ingredients. We decided to start by sharing an order of the bbq chicken nachos. They. Were. Fantastic. I'm still drooling thinking about those nachos. Crisp chips were loaded up with cheese, a sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, tons of chicken, and fresh peppers, tomatoes, and onions. We devoured the entire plate and I almost wished I had ordered the dinner-size portion for my main course. Almost. I'm glad I hadn't, though, because the chicken fettucinni alfredo was one of the best I've had in a restaurant. I find that at most restaurants, you get a couple of bite-sized pieces of chicken and a couple of hidden pieces of bacon in your pasta dishes, but Rossano's loaded up on theirs. It was full of juicy chunks of chicken and crispy bacon, so that every bite held all the flavour the dish intended. The sauce was creamy and portioned just right, so that while my noodles were coated, they weren't swimming in a pool of greasy sauce. I was a little worried about getting a peppercorn pasta, because I strongly dislike biting into huge hunks of peppercorn and being overwhelmed with the flavour, but it was blended so well into the pasta that it was a subtle note in the background. I would have preferred that my pasta be a little less al dente, but that was my only complaint. I had asked for the rest to go, fully intending on eating my leftovers for lunch, but it didn't even last an hour in the hotel; I just couldn't wait to finish it. My co-workers were equally impressed with their meals. Drinks were surprisingly affordable. Two of us had Singapore Slings at less than $5 a drink, and the other had a glass of wine at $4. Service was a little slow, and our waitress a little awkward. I think she was fairly new, and didn't quite seem comfortable yet with the menu or dealing with customers. She did come by and offered us three different kinds of bread to choose from (multigrain, cheddar, and crusty white), and while it was good, it would have been exponentially better if the bread was still hot, or even warm. I'm very glad we took a chance on this place, and I would definitely go back again. It was nice to get away from the concentration of restaurants in the downtown core of Main Street, even if we were only a 5-minute drive away. read more

Ah, the dentist. I just finished an appointment and was wondering where to eat. So, I decided to go to Rossano's. After all, it was really close (my dentist is at the mall) and I never ate there before. What could go wrong? Nothing. This place used to be a Mikes and they still have the old Mouth of Truth from Mikes. That was a nice touch, and a nice homage to Mikes (which still exists, it moved to over by Montana's, St. Hubert, and Skipper Jack's). Anyway, enough with the backstory. I got the 9" works pizza and if you know me, than you know that I like Parmesan cheese. So I just had the waitress (who was really friendly by the way) cover it completely with the cheese. She also put black pepper on too. The pizza was delicious, the sauce was refreshing, and the crust was amazing. My brother got the BBQ chicken nachos (which also come in appetizer form). DO NOT get the entrée size! It's way to big for one person. My brother found that out the hard way. My mom got the chicken pesto penne and she thought that it was ok. We all skipped dessert. I should also add that this restaurant makes some AMAZING bread! You get it while you wait for your meal. I only tried the cheese bread. The bread I liked, but I didn't care that much for the dipping sauce. Overall, Rossano's is a slice (no pun intended) of Italy in the middle of Dieppe. It was delicious, it's one of the best restaurants in the Greater Moncton Area, and you should eat here now. read more

Rossano's is located near Champlain Place in Dieppe, in the old Mike's Restaurant location. The menu is extensive and the food is great. We shared an appetizer of "goat fingers" - garlic fingers with goat's cheese and a marinara dipping sauce. Delicious! I had the house salad with grilled chicken for my main course, and it was a generously portioned salad with a nice mix of vegetables, including zucchini. I know it's silly to get excited over zucchini, but, well, I got excited about it. I love when a salad isn't all dingy lettuce and this one was really good. My husband had calamari, which was also a generous portion and served with a tangy sauce. Our servers were friendly, and the atmosphere is easygoing - good for dates, group meals or families (we didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable with our baby boy in tow). Prices are really reasonable. Oh - let's talk about the wine. You can get a glass of wine FOR THREE DOLLARS. That's amore. read more
