It is truly linear in that it is a singular trail that's extends to the Pineda Causeway and back. The park trail has historical information along the way, as well as information about local wildlife. The trail takes you through classic Florida wetlands. It is quite popular and frequented by walkers, cyclists, and joggers. It is about 2.5 miles one-way, so about 5 miles round trip. Be prepared to have sun exposure. Also, it seems like a popular trail for dogs and their parents. There are benches interspersed throughout the trail and garbage cans for convenience. Today I walked the 5-mile journey and I will be back. It was a gorgeous escape from city life. The parking was convenient and it really is free. If you plan to do the full length of the trail, bring water. It can get hot because of the direct sunlight.

Orlando park is 2.62 acres and full of recreational amenities enjoyed by the community. These include a hiking path, picnic pavilion, gazebo, drinking fountain, benches, picnic tables, full basketball court, half basketball court, see saw, fire truck, climbing walls, fun tunnel, track slide, tot swing set, swing set, chin up bars, and horizontal ladder. The open lawn and tables are great for unstructured play, picnicking, and family gatherings .The lush landscaped grounds make it inviting for play, exercise, and relaxation. The most interesting discovery was made in a corner of the park where I found a cannon from the El San Francisco de Asis sunk in 1731. According to the sign underneath, it was recovered by Jack Deppner who donated it to the town of Indialantic. Deppner was a history teacher at the middle school, the President of the Brevard Historical Society, and a salvage diver. He made national news when his students tried to find a time capsule that he buried in the 1970's at the school but forgot where.

I have lived here many years and driven by this location and never knew it was there. Parking is convenient with a small parking lot right off the road and next to a fenced-in playground. The park is easily accessible due to it's location, making it a great spot for quick visits or extended stays.It offers a peaceful escape with well-maintained grounds and serene surroundings. It has a mix of amenities ideal for various activities such as leisurely walks, photography, meditation, or play. There is a scenic walking trail that winds through beautiful trees and near ponds and a small wooden bridge, creating an inviting environment for relaxation or capturing nature shots. Families can enjoy the playground, while others use the open spaces for quiet reflection. There are open areas as well as open wooded sections. The park's tranquil atmosphere and picturesque settings make it an excellent location for filming or nature photography, offering diverse visual appeal. The park's charm lies in its simplicity, providing a serene retreat for both individuals and families looking to enjoy the outdoors in a peaceful community setting. The park is very well maintained and again, this park is pretty impressive. Even the garbage cans were empty. Far too often, I see a great park with overflowing trash cans. Here was not the case (at least on the day that I visited). The pavilions are also available to reserve for parties or gatherings. I would definitely recommend a visit to this park. Parks are an integral part of our communities. It is a place where we can gather with our neighbors in recreation and relaxation. Palm Bay, Florida is fortunate to have this particular park for its community. Again, I definitely recommend here and I give it five stars overall as my rating. Go see it for yourself.

Rotary Park at Suntree is a spacious 10.36 acres. Amenities include a large shade covered playground, a beach for swimming and fishing, and six individual picnic pavilions with tables and a grill named for some of the wildlife that makes its home here like herons, dolphins, and manatees. Rotary Park at Suntree is a stop on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, a network of more than 500 premier wildlife viewing sites across the state. There is also a large pavilion with a capacity for 150 people with restrooms and barbecue pits, and a 140 foot fishing pier. This park is the ideal destination for play, fishing, and small and large gatherings. The view of the Indian River is gorgeous from anywhere in the park and if you are lucky you may be able to spot a dolphin swimming by. Rotary Park at Suntree is administered to by the Rotary Club of Rockledge. Rotary was started by Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney who formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905 so professionals with different backgrounds could exchange ideas and form lifelong friendships. Through the years Rotary expanded to include humanitarian missions. Today Rotary International is a network of 1.4 million people who work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment. The Rotary Club of Rockledge, Florida, was founded in 1927 and it was the first Rotary club in Brevard County, Florida. You will often see a Rotary Park in Florida Towns because of their mission to improve the community.

Not knowing what the park had to offer, I would have walked into one of them just to get my bearings and to see the over layout of the park. I made my way to the Pavillion, passing a playground. The Pavillion was completely empty and led to the fishing pier. The grounds were very interesting with the unique rock formations and waves crashing along the shore. I saw a manatee, which was totally unexpected but a welcome surprise. Squirrels and birds so used to human interaction stood only a couple feet of me at times. It was like something out of a classic Disney film. Overall, it was a nice visit. I enjoyed my solitude and the beauty of nature surrounding it.

James A Nance is a 5.45 acre park that is part of a string of ocean front parks in Indialantic and…read moreMelbourne Beach. Thus park was named in honor of James A. Nance who was a Melbourne based attorney. He played an integral role in a landmark tobacco lawsuit filed by the state of Florida against major tobacco companies. Between 1997 and 2012 he donated more than $1 million to local charities and organizations including local law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and youth sports leagues. One of his favorite charities was The Haven for Children, which helps neglected, abused and abandoned children. In 1923, the Indialantic Casino was built on the site of what is now the southeast corner of James A. Nance Park. For years it was the epicenter of events in Indialantic. Today James A Nance Park has a lot of great amenities for a family day at the beach. These include beach access, restrooms, exterior showers, pavilions, two sand volleyball courts, and boardwalk There is also an adaptive playground built by community volunteers in honor of Mikey Goodwin who passed away at only 19 from a tumor on his brain stem. His family does a lot of charitable work in his memory. The beach is a great place to catch a rocket launch or sea turtles nesting from March through October. The Sea Turtle Preservation Society is located just a short walk away, so this area is heavily monitored for sea turtle nests. If you are local, annual parking passes for the beach can be purchased at town hall for $50.This pass allows you to park at Wave Crest Avenue, Watson Drive, Tampa Avenue, Sixth Avenue and here at Nance Park. If you are coming for the day you have to pay hourly. If I remember correctly I believe it was $3.50 an hour. Just make sure you pay because the lot was being patrolled to make sure people paid.
