The Rossmoor Children's Center is such a fantastic preschool. I am so impressed with the teachers and staff and facilities. The campus is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Los Alamitos, and has a lovely garden including large trees that provide plenty of shade. 6 months ago our 2.75 year old daughter Amara was ready to have new challenges and was growing bored of our home/playground routine. So we looked at some preschools near our home and near my work. The others were also nice, but there is just something special about Rossmoor Children's Center! Our neighbors sent their children there and recommended it to us, as did some of our friends, and they all mentioned Miss Priya as being wonderful. She takes the time to get to know each child as an individual and helps ease their transition with kindness and respect. Also Amara adores her teacher Miss Allison, and she loves Ms. Adria as well, and Miss Jennifer. Amara is always bringing home lovely art work and she learns all these fun songs that she teaches to me, and talks about the books that they read. She is starting to learn how to read and do simple addition and subtraction, and I definitely credit the preschool for that. Most importantly, they have helped Amara learn how to be a good citizen, as she now shares her toys with playmates and her baby sister, and is much more social and mature when we're out at playgrounds and parties. She uses her words to describe her emotions and has strategies for resolving conflict. We are so happy we made this choice! read more

Zero stars for the school. They had a bug infestation, which was never taken care of. Staff and director were really rude and condescending. Maintenance personnel was very rude and would make inappropriate comments towards women. Any issue brought up to the director was swept under the rug, and no consequences were taken into action for any misconduct. read more

My son attended this center for 2.5 years and I have nothing but good things to say, he first started with Ms. Alison when he was around 2, she was the sweetest and helped with potty training, social skills and all around just loved him. He moved on to Mrs. Maria's class and although we were sad to leave ms Alison, she welcomed my son with open arms and the bond they created just melted my heart. She helped him with learning, homework and getting him ready for TK. You could tell she loved these kids and we are so sad that the center closed. We were excited for one last summer with our favorite teachers :( read more

The school is closing because the owners have decided they just want to close because of health issues. Its such a wonderful school we all wanted to stay open but the owners wouldn't sell and were uninterested in keeping this legacy. I didn't want the negative reviews noting the director to stand. She didn't treat staff horribly. There was a very very low turnover rate in the 10 years we have sent three kids there. She is wonderful. This school is in a neighborhood where kids ride their bikes in and people walk their dogs or simply walk to get to their cars and it has become a constant that these parents are speeding down the street and into the driveway for this school with no regard for anyone else's safety. The director Pria is awful. Shes so rude. Take your money elsewhere. We are much happier at a different Montessori school in the area.

We choose Rossmoor because of recommendations we received from three different friends whose kids are now in elementary, middle and high school, so that should give you an idea of how long the school has been around and how well-regarded it is. Our daughter is in her third year and absolutely loves it. They've taken a shy little girl and truly helped her blossom. All of her teachers have been fantastic, as is the entire staff. One of the things I'm most impressed with is that each teacher has treated my daughter like an individual, and they do this with all the kids, helping them all grow and become the little people they are meant to be. The school director, is also amazing. Mrs. Priya, as well as all of the teachers, are always available should you have anything to discuss with them. I also love all of the holiday events we are invited to. It's fun to attend with my daughter as well as to volunteer. The kids love the crafts and I love being able to spend time with my daughter when she's at school. We are really grateful for this school, the administration and staff and thank them so much for all they've done for our little one! read more

I have twins that went to this amazing school. They loved it. They learned so much and were ready to move on to kindergarten, and are doing great. The teachers and staff are awesome, friendly, loving and caring. All the things that you want for your littles. They will be in great hands. My 4yr old daughter has given a big thumbs up to her teacher , Mrs Teri. That's a credible validation coming from my daughter . I'm all for state-funded but when it comes to state-funded , their agenda doesn't fit the needs of my child who is a bright, creative, adaptable, strong-willed, curious and loves to learn. Mrs Teri and her aide, Mrs Dipa have welcomed my daughter with open arms and enabled my daughter to love , LOVE being school ! Thank you Rossmooor Preschool for hosting all the holiday programs , providing meals (lifesaver!), offering flexible hrs/schedules, and for having such an amazing campus filled with grass for romping and playing, trees for shade , bikes and marked lanes for riding, large sand boxes , and plenty of climbing playgrounds to promote gross motor play. Every week she gets a simple homework to prepare for kindergarten , e,g., sight words, simple reading materials that are age appropriate, etc. Not only is this place educational, but they offer various activities, themes, STEM related throughout the year. The have bunnies, turtles and fish - which are neat to see as well. Once again, my girl is learning at school and having fun. When it's time to go home , she doesn't want to leave. She is however excited to show me all the neat craft projects she did for the day. When I finally bring her home , there's usually stains on her pants, sand in her shoes, dirt in her nails, etc and that's how it should be. Children learn through play. Update 6/29/19: My daughter has since graduated from Pre-K from Rossmoor and we miss the school and Ms Teri! All the time and effort she put into their learning is made clear now more than ever since we've had to move up to the Bay. Some preschool teach bc it's just a job. Not the teachers at Rossmoor. We had a great experience at this preschool. My daughter was already potty trained but not at naptime, I was worried but she learned how to master that too. The teachers were all very nice, caring and she made lots of friends. That had many additional eevents including Mothers day, Father's. The graduation was so sweet. Mrs. Pria runs everything very well. My daughter was well prepared for Kinder and excelles in school. My youngest is preschool age and will most likely be sending her as well. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this preschool is! My two children ages 3 and 5 attend rossmoor and love it. They have a phonics based language arts curriculum, loving and experienced teachers, a wonderful campus with a garden and two pools, and a thematic curriculum that my children love. They open at 6:30 for the working parent and close at 6pm. They serve hot lunches daily and snacks. My daughter will be entering kindergarten this fall and has been very well prepared by her teachers at rossmoor! My son, who has severe speech delays loves this school and has made amazing progress since starting. The teachers are very accommodating of his needs and I know this is the best " fit" for him. My son has been going to Rossmoor Children's Center for over 2.5 years. Every teacher / staff member that I have been in contact with has always been extremely friendly and very professional. Mrs Pria is a wonderful director and you can tell she really cares about the kid's happiness and education. A few months ago, I took my son out of Rossmoor because I found a school closer to home. We were so sad to leave, but I thought that the convenience of being closer to home would benefit my family. Within 1 month I realized that I had made a huge mistake. My son was very anxious at his new school. He didn't bond well with any of the teachers and he was getting into "trouble" a lot. He wasn't focusing in class, he wasn't listening to his teachers and every day I picked him up there was a new "issue" with his behavior. I called Mrs. Pria and asked if she could please take him back. Not only did she make room for my son, but she put him in a class with many of the same students he was with before so he had familiar faces. Since he's been back at Rossmoor, my son has returned to his happy friendly behavior. His teachers give me updates about him everyday and they have never lead me to believe they can't handle him or work with him. He is doing so well back at Rossmoor and I really feel that is because of the teachers at the school. I wish we never took him out but I now realize that you simply can't find a better place for your child's early education. Also my son can almost count to100, he knows basic addition and subtraction, he can write his name and he knows all the letters of the alphabet. I feel that he will be very prepared to enter kindergarten next year. read more

Rossmoor Children's Center has been absolutely amazing! My 3 yr. old daughter recently started attending and the transition period (the tears and holding of my leg) didn't last long! The teachers and director provide an amazing educational, yet nurturing environment that makes me feel so comfortable. The curriculum covers and supports all developmental milestones while making it enjoyable for the kids. The campus has plenty of play area, a garden, a pool area (swim lessons are offered as well as "free swim" for students during the summer session). Lunch and snacks are provided daily. I love this school. My son has been attending since he was 2 1/2 yrs old. This is one of the very few preschools that have a majority of grass on its campus for kids to run around on. Their tuition is also very affordable and includes a hot meal. The only negative thing I have to say is that there is a lack of a convenient and safe drop off area/parking. I have encountered a few rude parents who block the driveway. read more

We love this school. All the teachers genuinely care about the kids and do a great job getting them ready for kindergarten. Our daughter has been here for 2 years and actually looks forward to going to school. They have activities all the time and allow parents to volunteer. As the mother of a currently enrolled student at Rossmoor Children's Center, I am just so pleased! Everyone at the school is wonderful from the Director to the teachers! I had my daughter at this daycare for only a couple of months. We had just moved to the area and my daughter was potty trained but slipped a little at night after the move. She was fine at home and her old daycare. When she started here they told me she wouldn't go on the toilet at all and had a lot of accidents. She was kicked out of the daycare because she wasn't "potty trained" but I think it was the best thing for her! Every time I picked her up from the school she was being scolded about not going on the toilet by the director Pria. When I taught her to go on the toilet I made it fun and told her that's what big girls do. She hated going to this school and it was her third one since we moved so much in her first three years. She loved all her other schools and still wants to go back to her first one that we have kept in touch with her old friends. I didn't have much interaction with the teachers but they seemed good. I think they need a new director. We put her in a private school that requires her to be potty trained at her age and I told them my situation and they said they will work with her. Once she started her new school she going on the toilet from day one and everything has been fine and her teachers are amazing!!! I thought Rossmoor was going to be a great school with a home environment but I was so wrong. Look up LePort Schools they're amazing! read more
