I am an esthetician and have worked in a medical spa, so I am familiar with the risks of this procedure. Renee seemed to be confident and experienced. I requested to have one syringe of Restylane to fill the hallows under my eyes. Renee seemed very nice and the procedure started. First thing I noticed was that the numbing cream was not very effective. I did not mention it because I knew this was a very delicate procedure and I did not want to interfere with the treatment. Renee used what is called the cannula technique, which is where the blunt cannula is inserted into your skin to inject the dermal filler into the treatment site. I saw that I started bleeding immediately and I knew that she went too deep, especially under my eyes and so close to delicate tissue and nerves. The procedure was complete and Renee was "massaging" the filler. I noticed that there were some lumps and uneven distribution of the filler. Again, having had worked in this field, I assumed it was going to settle in and the swelling would go down. I left and continued on my day. I did a mirror check in my car and saw that the distribution of the filler was completely uneven. There were areas of "lumps" and a hallow under my right eye. I called Renee and showed her pictures and she could clearly see that there was an issue. Renee was kind and asked that I return to her office immediately for a correction. When I returned, Renee accused me of "rubbing the filler" and that the displacement of the looked like thumb prints. Again, I worked in this field and I know now to try to manipulate filler after the procedure. Renee opened another syringe and began the procedure again. This time it was even more painful and I bled quite a bit. I had to remind Renee to numb the left side of my face before beginning. I do feel that Renee made a sincere attempt at correcting the misplaced filler. She used another syringe of Restylane and told me I would not be charged for it. I left feeling that she had corrected the issue and that the swelling and bruising would go down. I wound up with severe bruising under my eyes. I called my friend who is a Spa manager and I was told that the cannula technique she used was too deep and actually dangerous in that area. I gave it more time hoping that the even more obvious lumps would go down. Sadly, they did not. The filler was misplaced and unevenly distributed. The bruising was so deep it took close to two weeks to dissipate. I reached back out to Renee by text and decided to try to stop payment since I would require further correction. This should have been a simple procedure and one syringe would have been more than sufficient. The placement and procedure she used was very risky I later found out and it could have injured nerves under my eyes that would have caused permanent damage. Renee became very hostile. She accused me again of "messing with the filler" and insinuated that I had somehow intentionally caused the issue. She responded with "I will pray for you". Renee was highly unprofessional and her skills are very questionable. I do not go to the time to write reviews like this for no reason. I am still left paying for a procedure that is still uneven and will require further correction. I saw another Aesthetic Nurse with many years of experience who confirmed that the procedure was done incorrectly and I was lucky to not have been permanently injured from the depth of her cannula. This is to warn someone who needs to proceed with caution. The tear trough area is a very difficult area to treat. Renee might be more experienced in treating other areas. My experience was terrible. Renee responded by being very unprofessional and I am still left paying for a procedure that made me look odd with too much filler in those areas and lumpy.
