We had a really great experience with Rotarski Photography during our multi-day photoshoot. We invited Rotarski Photography to essentially be our personal photogs as we went on an adventure to my boyfriend and mine's favorite places. We asked them to capture our life during a great life transition. We didn't want just a traditional maternity photo session - we wanted to truly capture some of our passions in life with our baby bump so our daughter in future could see where she came from and get a true glimpse of her parents' love and interests. When i contacted them with the idea they went out of their way to accommodate my plans and timeline - in short Dominika & Sebastian were the most excellent and adventurous team-mates. They drove out to Oregon to meet us at a designated campground in the wilderness (even got a fire going for us since we were late) where we were to spend 3 days hiking etc. with them and their cameras in tow. What resulted were some unique and realistic photos of my boyfriend and I and our 6 month old baby bump hiking through some of our favorite spots. It was truly a remarkable and unique experience and I thank them for taking on such a unique assignment such as this. Sebastian and Dominika had a great approach and attitude and gave good suggestions for when to capture moody, good light for the photos. From our session we have artistic, gorgeous, natural photos to share with our friends and family that capture a sense of place and our character for our lifetimes. I'm trying to put my thoughts into words for this review. Let me start by saying, my wife and I had the most beautiful wedding day, so full of love and quiet, meaningful moments... And they were all captured so beautifully by Sebastian and Dominika. When we first met with Sebastian, we knew that he would be a good fit for us. He's very personable, makes you feel comfortable, and just wants to know your story, and wants to tell it. On our wedding day, Sebastian and Dominika just let the day flow naturally. We pretty much forgot they were there! We just enjoyed the day, enjoyed the people, and made memories. Then, a couple of months later, we received our photos and were completely blown away. My husband, Jordan, and I are both pretty camera shy and Sebastian was still able to capture all of the special moments on both the engagement session and on the day of our wedding. He really went above and beyond for us... I don't feel that I will ever be able to thank him enough!! After our initial meeting, Jordan and I both knew immediately that our search had ended (we had met with and interviewed four other photographers before our meeting with Sebastian). Sebastian asked thoughtful questions and explained his style of photography to make sure that we were all on the same page. All I can say is, wow! We used Rotarski Photography for our engagement and wedding photos and were blown away. Not only were Sebastian and Dominika fun to work with, but the images that they produced were just incredible. Works of art, honestly! Especially nowadays in the age of overblown, washed out wedding photos, their work is in a league of its own. They managed to capture every special moment, every tear, every smile, every random thing that happened. It's hard not to have a huge smile on my face going through all of the photos and reliving all of those moments. Logistically, they are great to work with, as well. Wedding-July 6 2013 navy pier Leading up two weeks before my wedding day, I had no photographer! Our photographer ditched out on us very last minute, and I am so happy we were able to find Rotarski photography! Things worked out for the best because I ended up with AMAZING photographs! Sebastian and his wife were very professional,friendly, and easy to work with. He captured all of the spontaneous parts of the day, but was also willing to take any traditional poses that my family wanted. Him and his wife were so much fun and I liked that they had so many ideas of places/poses on their own. The price they charge you is just amazing for the hours and the quality of photos that they provide! I thought I would have to wait months to get my photos back(we got married during wedding season) , but I got them back and edited in less than a month! Wedding - August 2014, 170 people, Chicago suburbs After our engagement photos, I was excited to see Sebastian and Dominika on our wedding day. They blended into the background, never posing us or interrupting the flow of the day. They offered a calm presence and also privacy, giving me time to spend with my girls and mom without a camera in our faces. My husband and I first saw photographs by Rotarski Photography after a friend of ours used them for her wedding. Her photos were the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen - they were magical. We both knew that for our wedding there was no other choice but to have Sebastian and Dominika photograph our wedding. We were hesitant to do engagement photos, thinking we would be awkward and take horrible pictures. However, Sebastian and Dominika totally put us at ease and our pictures turned out to be incredible! They were able to capture us in the moment instead of us posing for a picture. Our wedding was on an insanely hot day in July. Everyone was sweating, makeup was melting off! Dominika and Sebastian handled it all with a smile and lots of laughs, we took all our pictures outside and they truly kept everyone in a good mood despite the heat. All of our friends and family were commenting all day on how fun and friendly the photographers were. Before the ceremony we went to a near by forest preserve to get pictures of my husband and I. Lots of walking in uncomfortable heels left me with cuts on my feet. Sebastian made a quick stop and bought me bandaids and drinks to help everyone cool off! Such a small thing but it says so much as to how kind and thoughtful he and Dominika are. I was worried our wedding photos would show how much we were sweating, but that's so not the case. Our pictures are perfect! Every time we look at them we are reminded of how perfect and happy our wedding day was. Even little moments that I didn't think about or realize would be photographed were captured. They even managed to take several pictures of my 6 year old niece who would hide when she saw them coming! I can't say enough how happy I am that we were able to have them photograph our wedding. Sebastian is the best. We had an engagement session with him, as well as had him as our wedding photographer. It was a record high temperature wise and he was totally game (sometimes more than us) to take photos throughout the day to make sure the day was adequately captured. The pictures we have gotten back so far are MAGIC. My husband and I are both quite uncomfortable having our pictures taken, however after a little bit of time with him, we loosened up and we had a blast with him on our wedding day. Those moments with your partner after the ceremony and before the reception are so precious. They are honestly the clearest memories I have and I'm so glad we felt as safe and as goofy as we did with him. This man is so incredibly talented and generous with his time and talent. We never had family portraits taken before and were a little nervous about being in front of the camera but he totally put us at ease. We could not have been happier with Sebastian and Dominika as our wedding photographers. They were simply amazing. I was a little hesitant about taking engagement pictures because I thought we would look awkward. Quite the opposite. We took them on a rainy day (theme of our wedding) at Starved Rock. There was nothing we could do about the weather, and we all went with the flow. On the car ride home my finance and I laughed about how horrible they would turn out. We both felt like drowned rats. We were happily surprised with the outcome. I'm sure many horrible pictures fell on the editing floor, but the ones we were given are quite beautiful. Our wedding ceremony was held in a church and our reception at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook. I was very clear from the beginning that I was anti bridal party jumping up and down or making silly faces- I hate those pictures! They agreed and produced very creative, but classic pictures. Our church pictures are gorgeous and they did not miss a minute of the action. The grounds at the Lodge are so beautiful and we were anticipating having our wedding party pictures and cocktail hour outside. Mother Nature had other plans! Our wedding date (7/11/15) was hot, rainy, and muggy. Sebastian and Dominika had previously taken the time to scout out locations for the off chance it would rain or be muddy. I am so grateful they went the extra mile! They found a covered bridge/walkway and our pictures turned out great! It was uncomfortably humid and I was convinced that I looked like a sweaty mess and our pictures would be terrible- totally the opposite! They remained cheerful and good humored throughout all of the complaining! They were very patient when trying to coordinate different poses and made the best of a very hot and uncomfortable situation! We had a short break in the rain and they arranged us in a creative way around a lake. As soon as my husband and I began to take our pictures alone, the rain began again. It was fairly close to the start of our cocktail hour, so we went inside to freshen up. Sebastian followed us (without us knowing!) and took some of my favorite pictures of the day. They really capture the memories and not just the moments. Later in the evening, they insisted on taking a few more pictures of "just us" to be sure we had a variety of portraits to choose from. I was a little hesitant to take them up on it because I knew that their time was up with us and because I was looking forward to enjoying our reception. I am so glad that we did! They are both so talented at capturing light in unique ways. Our pictures are truly gorgeous. I cannot recommend them enough and hope to work with Rotarski Photography again in the future. read more

In the last two years, we have asked Rotarski Photography to document some major life events, and we are incredibly happy we made this choice. Thanks to Sebastian and Dominika, we have a beautiful collection of photos from our engagement session, our wedding, and 2 family sessions. We are so happy we hired them to capture all of these events. We first chose Rotarski when planning our wedding because we were seeking a photojournalist style and did not want anything cookie-cutter. To get comfortable with getting photos taken, we did an engagement session and Sebastian helped suggest some great spots within our old neighborhood in Chicago. The day of the wedding was busy and stressful and overwhelming, but Sebastian and Dominika made us feel at ease and we were surprised at how they managed to get some amazing shots without us even noticing they were right there at that moment. We were so happy with our wedding experience with them that we have hired them twice since in a year for other family projects. I can't say enough good things about Sebastian and Dominika! Their photos are beautiful - they don't post a ton on their blog but if they did, I bet they would be inundated with requests because they do such a great job. And compared to other photographers, they were such a great deal - we feel like they really could charge a lot more. They're not big into giving posing directions, they just are there while you interact with your fiance(e), which worked well for us, but if you want really hands on posing instructions, then that might not work for you. But when it came time to do formal photos with our families, they did give direction (like telling people where to stand and how close to get) so for us, it was the best of both worlds, direction when we needed it (family photos were like herding cats!) and not too much intrusion when we didn't want it. And even when they would get close up to take photos, it wasn't bothersome and during the ceremony, they were very respectful. I noticed them out of the corner of my eye, but they did not get too close. They were also super thoughtful about everything - they scoped out the space, really found great spots and had great ideas of where to take pictures. Our engagement pictures were beautiful (they have a really great eye for composition and framing shots), and I really can't wait for our wedding pictures to come back. And they are both just such great people - we loved having them at our wedding, by the end of the night, we felt like they were friends! (Also, we had our wedding at the Logan Center for the Arts on the University of Chicago campus, so if you're considering having your wedding there, know that Sebastian and Dominika now have a lot of familiarity with this venue, as well as the campus where we had our photos taken beforehand, as well as Ping Tom Park where we had our engagement photos). read more
