I booked a 90-minute massage early this morning and left with plenty of time to arrive early. I…read moreunexpectedly got stuck behind a train, immediately called the business, and let them know I would be late. What followed was one of the most frustrating massage experiences I've had. SCHEDULING & PRICING I booked a 90-minute massage, but was told on the phone that their "90-minute" service is actually closer to 80 minutes after changing/prep time. Because I was going to be late, I asked to simply change the appointment to an hour and pay for an hour. I was told I could shorten the massage, but I would still have to pay for the entire original appointment because I had "reserved the therapist's time." I accepted that rather than argue first thing in the morning. THE MASSAGE Before starting, I specifically said my priorities were my neck, calves, and feet. Those areas were essentially ignored. I paid extra for deep tissue. The pressure wasn't remotely deep tissue and barely qualified as a firm standard massage. I also paid extra for cupping. What I received consisted of small suction cups being lightly moved/scraped across my skin and was nothing like the cupping treatment I expected from the upsell. The therapist disappeared for noticeable periods of time, including roughly five minutes at the beginning. I confirmed with her that I wanted to stop after approximately 50 minutes because I had already accepted that I would still be charged for the original appointment. In practice, I received roughly 45 minutes of actual massage time while being charged for approximately 80 minutes, plus the additional services. CHECKOUT This was probably the most frustrating part. Despite receiving roughly 45 minutes of massage, checkout was based on the full scheduled service and the screen showed a total around $220, with suggested tips around $50. When I questioned why I was still being charged the full amount, the response was essentially that I had to pay for all of the therapist's reserved time regardless of how much massage I actually received. I manually entered a $25 tip rather than tipping based on services/time I did not receive. I had also signed up for a discounted package/subscription in connection with the appointment, which makes the entire experience even more frustrating. BOTTOM LINE I walked out having spent somewhere around $175-$200+ including the add-ons/tip, received approximately 45 minutes of an extremely light massage, did not receive meaningful attention to any of the three areas I specifically requested, and was charged based on substantially more treatment time than I actually received. The front-desk interaction was also unnecessarily rude and dismissive when I tried to resolve what I thought was a very straightforward billing issue. I understand charging someone for a late cancellation or protecting a therapist's scheduled time. What I do not accept is charging me for the full appointment, shortening the actual service dramatically, charging for add-ons that did not resemble what was advertised, and then presenting tip suggestions calculated from that total. Because the front desk was unwilling to meaningfully address the discrepancy, I will be disputing the applicable charges directly with my bank and providing them with the appointment details, receipt, timing, and services actually received. Two stars rather than one because I did technically receive a massage. Beyond that, I cannot recommend this business based on my experience.

The space is incredibly calming, and you can tell so much intention went into the design and layout. The receptionist was incredibly nice and helpful. I honestly felt right at home! I personally have a lot of jaw and face tension, and have been trying to find a place that offers that type of massage. Thank goodness for The Lotus Room! I will definitely be back.

My shoulders have been up around my ears for most of 2020 but going back to get a massage was very low on my list of pandemic priorities. Unable to yoga or stretch or foam roller The stress out of my back, I finally caved and went in to inquire about services (they don't have much of a web presence and I wanted to know if it was clean, so I popped in). It's definitely clean and there were no other people in there so I figured with the stars aligning, was time for me to get massage! There's a small seven chair waiting room, a cash register protected by plexiglass and everyone on staff was wearing masks. There were multiple layers of area protections and they required you to keep your mask on while taking your shirt off. The woman who greeted me explained all the massage options and I opted for a massage bed in a private room versus a chair massage which is something you see at airport massage parlors a lot. Their service menu is definitely weird and not very informative. It's much easier to talk with them than to try to figure out what you're getting while you're just in the waiting room. When they take you into the back, you can see the individual areas, so my recommendation is just getting a short massage or foot massage and get to know the place and then the staff will work with you for your next visit. The woman who did my massage asked a few times how she was doing for a pressure. She clearly knew how to squash the stress out of my back. I felt like a 45-minute massage was ample time to work out the massive adhesions in my shoulders. I absolutely feel like 90 minutes would be totally worth the money if you're looking for the Oliver experience. I'm generally not the fan of deep tissue massage and masseuse walked the line of swedish massage and deep tissue massage. I could feel adhesions coming apart and getting more mobility but it wasn't the kind of crippling pain they can sometimes put you in with elbows in your spine when they really want to be aggressive. It wasn't really any kind of pain. I'm huge wimp. They had a lovely wrap up with different temperature oils and heated cloth to make you moisturized but not slick like a baby seal. Kudos to them for doing a hair towel wrap prior to putting on any moisturizer. I'm less enthusiastic about foot massage in general but I'm going to give it a whirl - I promise to report back. Oh, and those signs about not soliciting prostitution that folks have posted in their reviews, those are real! Bill Belichick has absolutely ruined the strip club massage parlor for the rest of us! PROTIPS: Appointments are by no means required. There's a sign at the desk asking that you tip in cash. Prices are generally about a dollar a minute. Ask for Tina ....she's awesome!
