We stopped on the way home from Merrifield for a beer and a stretch and found a new go-to rest stop on the way to and fro up north. Service was polite, efficient and she knew the menu. Husband had the smoked wings- he's super picky and loved them. Got with the chipotle bbq sauce and actually tasted like chipotle and the meat was tender and the skin crispy. I had the sappy burger (Sunday special) with peanut butter, bacon and American cheese with fries and I would absolutely get that again. I got a healthy portion of fries and the fries were awesome- just how I like them- thin and crispy, lightly seasoned. The burger was excellent. Good mix of beer on tap. Been here a few times and it's hit or miss. Food is ok tasting. The prices are a little expensive for the taste and amount you recieve. Staff is not very knowledge of beer menu or cocktail menu. Not impressed. I do think the updated decor is very nice. read more

We stopped in for dinner and were greeted right away and seated. Excellent service! We ordered a beer, nacho taco salad, and turkey bacon ranch melt with tater tots. Large portions and good food! The tater tots were amazing! Very happy with our food and service! read more

This is very upscale given the location. Easy access, motorcycle parking, even snowmobile access in the winter. While it strives to be a family oriented establishment, it does have a bit of that neighborhood bar feel. The food is better than average, and the portions are large. The menu is not incredibly diverse, but well executed. It is setup in traditional fashion, bar patrons will be sitting back to the crowd. A more social setup may benefit the ambiance, as it feels definitively separated. The staff is excellent, doing a phenomenal job of balancing the bar/restaurant atmosphere. Weird place. Stopped in with Mom for lunch as she was craving a salad. Upon stepping foot inside everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at us. It was something out of a Steven King novel. Our waitress rehinged her jaw and attempted customer service. Her random rattling of the specials and upward inflection upon her last words left me wondering if there was more. However she stood motionless like a marinette doll. Did I mention this place is really weird? Had to ask for a glass of water which was odd to me since there isn't a drought or other unforeseen circumstance where water is hoarded. Unrolled my cutlery and noticed my knife was filthy, I was holding it up to show my Mom when another waitress walked by and noticed my display. She asked if I wanted another one, to which I declined as a steak knife would be overkill for my salad, however she didn't remove the disgraced knife. I ordered the southwest salad. I'm not complaining but this salad comes with onions and green peppers which were not listed on the menu. The salad was on par price wise however I noticed their specials and menu prices were quite askew. It's fine. Better than your average bar/restaurant as far as ambiance. Food is better than average. I like the cheese curds. I hear they have good burgers. It's clean and they have fast friendly service. I was going to give it three stars just bc it's not my cup-of-tea but I think a lot of people will be happy with it. BIG MISTAKE! When my mothers steak wasn't cooked the way she requested, she sent it back. The manager came out began yelling and shoved the plate into her face while doing so. When her food did finally come back out the her food still was not correct. There was never an apology from the manager, but the wait staff spend the rest of the evening apologizing for the manager. You would think that the management would have a better understanding of customer service. Will not be returning. read more

So tonight I ordered a crock of soup to go for my mom, who can't eat much because of recent neck surgery. My sister and I picked it up and brought it back home, and when my mom opened this literal cup of soup it wasn't even full and I paid almost $4 bucks for it. My mom called and told them that it was not even full and the were charging to much for a bowl or crock of soup that was only a cup worth. The waitress Carly told us she couldn't do anything because there was no managers around and we would have to call tomorrow to talk the manager, Debbie. We live close, so I brought my mom over and went in and we were told the same thing, except the cook, Dee, told us she did what she was supposed to do and she wasn't remaking it either. No one even asked to remake it, we wanted a refund! This isn't the first time we've had horrible service, but it will be the last. We are never going to this place again. I highly recommend Jigger's bar and grill in down town Milaca! I told them what happened after they sent us there originally for soup after they were out and they gave me a $5 gift certificate because of the trouble, but when I went back to get something for my mom at Jigger's after the fiasco at Rough Cut's, they made food for my mom on the house in addition to that gift certificate, even though their kitchen was closed. They were astounded by the horrible service we had at Rough Cut's. And the plus side of things, Jigger's is completely reasonable on their prices unlike Rough Cut's and it's awesome food!! read more

Exceptionally clean. Friendly staff. The smokin pork fries are to die for. Really some of the best food I have ever eaten.

The food is pretty good. But, I would rather not eat at this place given the way employees are treated. They are not trained properly or given time to improve. They work maybe 7-8 days a month and if they don't make the "cut," after those few days a month, they are canned. Then, instead of telling the person the bad news over the phone, they require the person to travel to that unexpected last day of employment! I know a very hard worker/waitress who was very pleasant and helpful and got pretty good tips from this place--PATRONS TIP WHEN THEY LIKE THE SERVER. She was let go instead of the manager deciding to have patience and let her grow into a very saavy waitress. This manager knew this was her first waitressing experience. The problem is the manager not the employee. I would rather eat at a restaurant that cares about its employees and helps them to succeed and grow! Family oriented--I think not. What a nice find in "our own backyard". We eat here fairly often, and enjoy introducing it to others. It's not a big place, but can be a very busy place, especially during cabin traffic season. Whether eating in, or ordering to go, it's definitely worth your time to stop in and check this place out. There's an area for eating outside when the weather's nice as well. The staff do a great job, and are always friendly, even when very busy. Even though it's a bar & grill, the only place you'll see "rough" is in the establishment's name. It is a place you can feel comfortable bringing your family into. There is even a 2 drink limit if you come in with kids. The mainstays of the menu are sandwiches and burgers, which they do with excellence. We've tried a variety of menu items with no disappointments. We go there a lot. They have good food and good service. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is it's ridiculous to have a fish and shrimp special and then only give tarter sauce or cocktail sauce and then charge extra if you want both. In my opinion many people like myself prefer tarter sauce with fish and cocktail with shrimp. Quit being so cheap with condiments. read more

My husband and I had heard great things about the food at Rough Cut Bar and Grill. We decided to give it a try. The pulled pork is by far the best I've had, my husband too. It took a while to get the food, because it was a Friday during the dinner rush, but it was well worth the wait, and our waitress was very attentive the whole time.
