There is a playground area on the other side of the park. Apparently parents at the park don't want some rando guy with no kids playing on the playground equipment. At least that is what the police officer told me. I think the kids were just pissed because I was wining at "king of the mountain". Park is located in downtown and is next to the Neuse river. Parking is free in the area. It's a nice little park and I give it a solid 4 stars.

The rest is five stars--bandshell for outdoor concerts, picnic shelter, shade canopies, solar-powered lights, interactive multi-piece colorful interactive ACCESSIBLE playground, clean artifcial playground surfacing, paved walking trail (with a storybook theme), dedicated parking lot and meaningful memorials. Thanks to the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund, Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation Department and partners for making this park happen. If you haven't been to Kinston, NC, lately, check it out. This playground is part of a downtown revitalization going strong.

The Foster Rec Center is a great new addition in downtown Goldsboro. It's a great community center…read morefor the kids. The staff and volunteers are caring and attentive. I frequent here because of the gym. The membership is more than affordable (almost a steal), and the center is always well maintained. The gym isn't the biggest or fanciest, but it has everything you need to keep in shape. The rec center also offers a myriad of athletic programs (basketball, softball, soccer, etc.) for both the younger ones and the not-so-young. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Dirty kitchen, 5 opened pizza boxes in the oven, Food on counter, refrigerator full of their personal things and just filthy, microwave and Ovens looks like it haven't been cleaned all year long. We reserved this facility months in advance. You knew we would be there today. Why do we have to spend 45 mins cleaning what should already be cleaned? 2. Who wants to have an event where a complete stranger (Mr Lee)keeps walking in and out? Going through the refrigerator, making plates to eat right after rudely telling the kitchen staff that they need to shut down the kitchen? 3. Mr Lee has got to be the most unprofessional employee I have ever encountered. Reunion ends at 4. It's 3:25 We playing our family game and he comes in and rudely shouts ITS OVER, CLOSE IT DOWN! After being told by a family member that we were wrapping up and will be out by 4! Even tho we were delayed by up to 45 minutes because of y'all negligence! 4. Mr Lee approached an older family member in the hallway saying "YOU MEN NEED TO TAKE ALL THIS TRASH OUT" Sir if you don't sit down somewhere. There's a way to talk to people. One thing for certain and two things for sure The Powell Starkey Family will NEVER do business with y'all again! And I hope everybody that wants to patronize your facility reads this post so they know what to expect.

There isn't much shade (I guess you wouldn't want leaves falling into the pool) but that will make it super hot on a summer day. There is a tennis court but it needs resurfacing and some equipment because right now it looks like a very strange parking lot. The only decent thing here is the picnic shelter which does have a grill nearby but there is only one table in the shelter and one of them dragged out of the shelter. What? Cliffs of the Neuse State Park is located in Seven Springs, NC. The park is named for the 90-foot…read morecliffs that overlook the Neuse River. I first stopped at the Visitor Center. I like visiting these as they are like a little museum in each state park. This visitor center was very interactive and had bright colors with the storyboards. I like that they covered the local ecology, the history of the river and also how we can help make better choices to keep the water safe. In the lobby, there are some taxidermies; you will see a black bear, an owl, a fox and a bobcat that lived in the area. When the fault formed, the water created the cliffs. The cliffs are unique in the layers formed. The white and yellow layers of sand and gravel are remnants of ancient beaches. The Atlantic Ocean once covered the area. Then the dark gray and black layers were made of clay likely deposited by ancient marshes. Between these layers are marine life, seashells, shale, and gravel. These got left behind as the sea levels rose and fell. These formations are 90 feet high and 200 feet underground. Native Americans gathered here, the Tuscarora and Saponi tribes. The river acted as a transportation route and a source of food. They used canoes to go from the coast to the inland forest. The high ground served as a lookout point, allowing them to see anyone approaching. They hunted deer and turkey. The museum has stone tools and other artifacts that were found in the area. During the Civil War, in the Battle of Whitehall (now Seven Springs), the Union soldiers used the higher ground to fight the Confederates. The Confederates were building an ironclad ship (the CSS Neuse). They thought being upriver would keep them safe from the Union ships. They had hoped to retake New Bern with it. The ship survived the battle with only minor damage and was moved to Kinston to have an engine and heavy iron armor added. (The ship can be seen at the CSS Interpretive Museum in Kinston, NC) I liked the phones available for a glimpse into the past from people who were part of the park, and the viewer glasses. The building is air-conditioned, and restrooms are available. There is a small gift shop too. The staff were friendly as they were expecting campers. There is an Overlook for a beautiful view. It is just steps away from the parking lot. The view was stunning. The signs make it easy to find from the visitor center. There are some trails to follow as well if you want to explore more.

The park has a fenced playground with modern equipment that appears in great condition. I like that there is a small fence to limit access and keep the little ones from possibly wandering off. There is also a picnic shelter with picnic tables though no grill. The main attraction here is the walking track that was in good use today with at least a dozen folks doing laps. It alternates days going clockwise and counter-clockwise so that the walking is perhaps a little fresher and less boring.
