I dropped the guitar here as I was flying out of a nearby airport. I suggested they ship the guitar to my home once complete - they refused to do this because, "we do not have any extra boxes to put the guitar in." Then I asked if they would bring it to a very close UPS store and the answer was a flat "no." Then I the owner yelled at me and hung up the phone. He yelled at me saying, "Why did you bring your guitar here anyway?" As of present, I am not in possession of the guitar and I do not know how I am going to retrieve it.

Very cool music store in scarsdale NY that sells ,service musical instruments, accessories , music…read morelessons, etc. A friend recommended this mom and pop music biz as he had purchased a few guitars along with accessories over the years and he was right , this place is one of a kind . I purchased a bass guitar and got my old ibanez bass tuned up and cost was reasonable and even better was the kind gentleman who helped me in the process . Would recommend Rudy's music in scardale and does not matter if you are new or a pro , they will take care of you from the jump .4.5 stars on my yelp meter .

She told me I got too big of a violin but we can always rent one (which I thought was fair). She also started to show me how to put it together. Well the gentlemen in the back, forget it. He got all upset, came to me and said I should just go home. Im wasting my time there. Really attempting to belittle me. I dont care if this guy won awards or is the almighty violin king. He is rude, impatient, and will definitely get an award of "biggest j*****s" by me. Go check out the other two music schools who were friendly, forthcoming, and professional.

Additionally, the owner tried to tell me that I may not be "getting the real deal" from other shops. As a professional musician - I can tell the difference between real and fake strings. Shops in the area servicing real Stradivarius instruments are not selling fake strings. Reputable online retailers who serve professional musicians are also not selling fake strings. Additionally, the owner mentioned they provide a service of "installing" the string for you. As an educator, I can tell you that your teacher will do this for you. As a professional musician, I have no idea why this service would be offered to me - it is not common practice nor should it be. If the shop itself is indeed purchasing strings from the makers at double or triple the cost they can be found locally or online, I would have to question their ability to do business. As much as I would love to support a local business and a local music business, this predatory practice is unacceptable.

I'm glad I listened to my intuition because when I looked up, I saw a sign.. literally. In red and white letters it read "NY Music Garage" and below it a window decal which exclaimed "A Different Kind of Music Store." As soon as I walked in it was clear that those words were true. I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. I had initially planned to just scope out their collection and perhaps jam, while getting to know the store, but with so many affordable goodies around, I just had to shop. The awesome fellas there helped me pick up a perfectly fitting guitar slide, a strap lock and even a homemade guitar-shaped cutting board!! It's made of walnut, shaped like a Les Paul and sealed in food-grade sealant... how cool is that?! They even had two other variations, a tele and and a strat. After all that shopping, I was ready to try some guitars. They kindly guided me to a private practice room, which had plenty of space to move around, several fun amps and phenomenal acoustics. Looking around the store, it was clear they carried an awesome collection of new, used and vintage axes... all at fair & reasonable prices too! I'm absolutely stoked with my haul and will definitely be back next time I'm out in Huntington! Thanks fellas!

I've been here a couple times as I've needed a good ukulele. The selection is outstanding--I can't…read moreimagine finding more choices unless you go to a dedicated uke shop, and those are rare. They have a few cheapies (the typical ukes that are more like toys), many entry-level and mid-level instruments, and quite a few high-end instruments in exotic woods. They also know a lot about the different brands, and materials, and strings, and they have just about any modification or accessory you need: straps, cases, capos, strings, options for a setup or add electronics, and so on. Their prices are almost always competitive with the big online retailers. As a bass player, I can also attest to the good selection (albeit Fender-heavy, which is fine with me) of guitars and basses. They are a cut above any independent music store I grew up with in terms of quality and price, and their service and attention to customers puts them above the big guitar chains. Highly recommend!

Had a really nice conversation with the guy at the front desk about music and playing in bands while I waited for the adjustments.

Nowhere on the website does it say how much the late fee would be. I explained that I was trying to persuade my son in continuing with the instrument - they did not care. Unreal that there would be a $100 late fee on a $165 rental. I will never return and I do not recommend.
