Better than most jails. Early kicks for everyone. Out all day and night with access to patio,…read moreshowers, phones and tablets. Plenty of drugs and fornicating possibilities... if you're into that kind of thing. Options include a ranch in Watsonville and home detention. Liberal county usually doesn't waste as much $$$ as others. Officers are trained better than other northern counties. The TVs have cable but forced to watch what everyone else is watching and no remote. The same identical 1 hour and 15 minute informational video is played everyday. Not as many blacks as typical. The sandals should be replaced. While I like cereal everyday, the menu is very limited. Dirtiest and most obnoxious place I've visited. Shout out to solari, king and esquibal. And on the flip side, rascal, Napa, & trigger.

Especially for inmates that need longer term mental health care and interventions to curb criminal behaviors. Just putting them back out on the street makes the situation remain horrific and on going. I'm told that the facility is ICE cold and that there is not enough food for inmates who do not have access to accounts. This jail is archaic in its effectiveness and accountability. If the Judicial system were to step up and rule appropriately the penal system could also make an impact. This is NOT happening.

On May 25, 2023, I had a somewhat awkward experience trying to get to the entrance of this place. They're doing construction, and the front entrance is blocked by fencing. You need to walk around it to get inside. This was my first time here. I was tasked with doing a pickup in the lobby. Once inside, everyone is behind glass. Staff was helpful and professional. An elderly man needed help locating an inmate, so a staff person came out to offer assistance. I had to wait in the lobby, and then my "pickup" came out. It was an uneventful experience. If you wait in the lobby, there's no scan or search. No cellphone use in lobby

I had a time when I had to stay here & I will admit for the worst food it was pretty good! I think one night was Salisbury steak with vegetables and some potatoes. The guards treated you with respect but still treated you like an inmate. The clothes were fairly new & clean. This place I was housed for a few days had windows to see outside. Very accommodating with visiting hours. Plus in the summer the weather is nice even though you can't go outside the walls of the jail. I'm from south city and it was a pleasure stay here momentarily.

I thank goodness that got out today because I really don't want to gamble and see if Tuesday's oatmeal is still lumpy. Jumpsuit was still made of that high-quality cotton I just hate being without a bra. I hate the flip flops they just don't fit right I don't have a huge fear wearing them due to the fact I am brave enough to take a shower at 24 Hour Fitness with no shoes on. Anywhoo...great place, great staff. If you're going to get busted I highly recommend you do it in the East Bay Area.

Without it, I'm very emotionally impulsive, struggle to care for my hygiene, I can get myself in dangerous situations, and I can't sleep for more than a few hours. I didn't receive ANY medication for this nor any alternative medication for my entire stay there and it was absolutely awful. I verbally requested mental health multiple times, I formally requested sick day twice, and I told multiple deputies about this many times over the span of the 4 days I was there - but NOTHING was done until just hours before my release, where they let me talk to a psychiatrist. To me this is an absolutely unacceptable and disgusting way to treat a human being. Adding to that, the food is never enough and the schedule is so insane (6am, breakfast, 11am lunch, and 4pm dinner) I went to bed every night extremely hungry. When you do get to eat, they don't give you enough time whatsoever to eat - you get 10 minutes tops to get your food, sit down, and eat as fast as you can before they start flashing the lights. It's not healthy for a human being. I felt like a starved dog. I had to save my unfinished food and hide it in my room so I wouldn't have to go hungry. The quality of the food is horrible too - they gave us "gravy" which is like a slightly liquidy clear jello with pieces of ground beef in it. The potatoes are clearly old - they had black spots all over them. And not to mention literally almost everything else is full of fillers and preservatives. The deputies attitudes add to the total inhumane conditions of the place, they treat you like a nuisance for anything - I was yelled at for simply asking 2 questions about how the cell door worked because it was my first time there. "DONT ASK QUESTIONS!". I never gave the deputies a lick of attitude but was still treated like a piece of garbage. I would ask them any question and instead of answering simply and directly they would give me an ugly look and say something really sarcastic or rude. No matter how you phrase anything or how nice you are, they treat you like a worthless piece of shit. They're also incredibly lazy - i called for a deputy a few different times and they would make hand signals at me from their office that made no sense and then get up begrudgingly and snap at me because they didn't want to get up to talk to me. And, the holding cell I was in for 5 hours was FREEZING cold, and the most they would give me was 2 t shirts, denied me a sweater. I had to bundle up in a fetal position on the disgusting bench, my arms tucked into my shirt and my nails & feet turned grey/blue. I hope this place either gets shut down or has a major reform. These conditions are extremely inhumane and something needs to happen immediately. I feel sorry for the people who have to endure this long term.
