Definitely of my favorites when it comes to grocery stores anywhere, this a beautiful store filled with items that really highlight the culture of Louisiana, sure you can find just about anything other big brand grocers offer but the specialty selections are unmatched in my opinion. This location did not disappoint, it's modern, exceptionally clean and stocked with lots of fresh meats, seafood and produce. The customer service and the layout of this store are good. Rouse's y'all can do better! My deboned stuffed chicken still had feathers on both wings! I love Rouse's! Their stores are always clean and well organized. Prices are not super inflated even for neighborhood market type grocery stores. The King cakes are delicious! Do not try the Biscoff Cookie one! You will want to eat way more than you should! Their smoked meat plate lunches are good, too! False advertisement. Repeatedly! 3 weeks ago they ran standing rib roast sale with $20 coupon in flyer. Get to check out and there is some mysterious 7 lb rule that was NOT in flyer or on coupon. PAID full price !! One week later they run WHOLE beef tenderloins at sale price. Go in store and they are selling tenderloin butt's only. Butcher didn't appear to know the difference. Asked for store manager and he acknowledged advertisement misprint for both sales but offered nothing to make things right. I send corporate office a message about this False and misleading advertisement and the meat buyer calls back to let me know i could drive back and collect my tenderloins but no acknowledgement or apology for misleading ads to me and the general public. Although many Cajun specialty items are carried, some New Orleans NON-Cajun items carry deceptive labels. Rouse's prices are mid-range, meaning that most will need to do some comparisons. The stores vary individually, especially in regard to the quality of store-prepared items, like boiled seafoods and deli items. Methinks that Donnie Rouse would do well to grab some of his deli items and taste them himself, especially the "stuffed artichokes". Quality & taste of some items vary wildly, store-to-store and trip-to-trip. Most have great parking and check-out services. Watermelons will not be returned without a receipt. There is no sign posted. You are presumed to know the non posted policy. You are advised of policy when you return the melon. Rouses is a local chain that has an excellent selection of foods. When it comes to sausage, salsa, sauces, spices and things like rice, gumbo and seafood spices, organic foods and fresh meats and seafood, this place rocks. They also have great prices on coffee and other common grocery items. This isn't a Walmart and your not gong to find furniture or a wide selection of toasters or appliances, but for fresh Cajun foods, seafood, meats and spices this place is #1 in my book. I should also add that they have a great alcohol selection which includes hundreds of beer and wine selections and of course all of the top shelf alcohol you might need for your next party. I will be honest if this store wasn't so far from where I live I'd shop here weekly. Main reason is because of the baked goods and the hot food island. Picked up shrimp pasta and some onion rings. Both were actually pretty good, better than a lot of restaurants in this city. As for the rest of the store it is okay. As usual the service here is pretty good. read more

Rouses in general is easily my favorite grocery store. That being said, this location is certainly one of the nicer ones I've been too. The layout of the store is different, but you get used to it. The meat always seems fresh, the produce almost always seems fresh, the shelves are always fully stocked, I've never seen anything low much less empty. The boiled seafood is better at this location than all the other locations I've been to. Can't complain much about the price because it's only slightly more expensive but for the freshness and experience, I think it's worth coming here over any competition. read more

It just so happens that my selection tonight included an avocado that was past its prime, crackers with an expired date and a small box of wine that had a $3.99 price tag but came it at over $9.00. Meat is expired a lot of times. Have to check dates on anything you buy, esp their meat. The females that work behind the customer service stand are the rudest people I've come in contact with in a long time. It must be a requirement. I've worked in the service industry for 18 years and I get it, most people are kind of dumb but there is no excuse for being rude, exp for no reason. Worst customer service in the city of Lafayette, and that's saying a lot. It's one of the closest stores to my house but it's my last choice, especially after today's experience - my $2 off manufacturer coupon wouldn't scan. Cashier named Luke was rolling his eyes the whole time and just handed it back to me saying "I don't know what to tell you". I go to customer service, ask for a manager, to be told they won't take the coupon if it doesn't scan. No other efforts were taken to help me. Probably better off at Walmart. read more

I recently shopped at this store 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Each time at least one sale item rang up higher at the register than the price on the shelf. The difference added up to a total of $12.56. I caught it each time. To get my money back I had to stand in line at the customer counter where u have the most unhappy girls woeking behind this counter. The first time I wanted my money back the CS rep. argued with me and told me the price on the shelf was wrong. The second time they checked the price gave my money back without saying one word to me and it went downhill from there because they recognized me and treated me with total disrespect. The prices are not great here to begin with; but to have so many items mispriced is really deceptive. The whole atmosphere is negative and not a great place to spend money!
