I've been shopping here for a long time and I'm so proud of their new store. There's not an Asian grocery store in Lafayette that provides the wide variety of ingredients this location has. With the Asian Market I'm able to continue making food from my culture that I love without having to drive to Houston or Baton Rouge. We have shopped here several times over the years. We have never had a bad moment in this store. The people are always happy to help us find something when we can't find it. They are always friendly at the register and ask if we need anything else. If you have ever had a bad experience in this store, it is probably because you brought it on yourself. I know that the customer is always right is what they say but you have to remember that these people have different customs than we have in America and they are raised that way. Be nice to them and they will be nice to you. read more

I like shopping at the Asian market because of the variety of items that are available. But every now and then as with any store you get an item that's bad. I purchased a large bag of cashews ( $12.99) and they were bad. So when a customer goes to return an item( with the receipt) please don't get amnesia or forget how to speak English. Hey you knew how to speak English when you took my money. After doing a CSI type inspection on the bad cashews I was able to get my money back. I won't return anytime soon. I think I'll be shopping at S & P Oriental Grocery for awhile. read more

I moved to Louisiana from California in 2010 and one of the things I miss the most are the Asian supermarkets. This is the only place in Lafayette that comes close to scratching that itch. They pack a lot into a smaller space, and the place is always clean. Staff have always been friendly to me, probably because I don't make faces at them for speaking a language other than English. Snacks, drinks, frozen dumplings and buns, teas and coffees, seasonal treats during the various Asian holidays, a decent produce aisle--rarely have I not been able to find what I was looking for here. read more

Tons of stuff packed into a small location and they finally have a live well that has dungeness crab & lobster!! My wife and I always come in here to get one or two things and usually leave with a few bags full! The selection is excellent and most of the employees are friendly. Man. I've been to the Asian Market more than 100 times in the last five years or so... and this is as good as it gets in Lafayette. While they don't have the vast selection that the huge Asian markets in cities like Houston have, the selection is good, the prices are reasonable and the market is clean and smells good - which would not describe many of the other Asian markets I've been to. Here are some of the highlights: - Produce as fresh as any market in Lafayette, at typically about half the cost. Items like green onions, bok choy, garlic, carrots, tofu and other items are fabulous and cheap. - The fresh herbs here are sensational and cheap. Basil, cilantro, dill, and other herbs are a fraction of the price you pay at a supermarket, and you get 2-3 times as much. - Oils and sauces are amazing and cheap. 20 or more kinds of soy sauce, and they are far better than what you get in the supermarket. There are also many different varieties of sauces that you can experiment with... I discovered black soy sauce here last year, and the stuff is incredible for cooking. - Noodles, rice, and other items specific to Asian cuisine are plentiful. If you like to make Pho or Miso soup, you've got to have the fresh rice noodles that they have here as you can't get them in a regular supermarket. If you want to make sushi, you've gotta have sushi rice, as you can't make sushi without it.... trust me, I've tried. - Cookware and table items like plates, bowls, spoons, knives, woks, pots and other stuff are again phenomenal and cheap.... and if you're making Pho or some other kind of soup, do you really want to eat it in one of your regular bowls or a bowl designed for this this kind of soup? If you like to cook, and like Asian food, Asian Market is a MUST.... and if you don't know what you're doing, the nice employees here will help you get what you need. read more

Not the same as the big Asian grocery stores I am used to in previous places I lived such as Philly and Boston, but a decent smaller grocery store that carries most of the staples I've come to love and can only (affordably) purchase at an Asian grocery store. They have an excellent noodle aisle! I bought these spinach tempura chips from there last time I was there... and I would do so again. The kim chi we get is made in Houston and excellent. I buy curry paste and veggies sometimes from here, too. I am not as versed in the frozen section, but it seems alright. The cashiers are typically quiet and straight to business rather than friendly, though I do like that they put the groceries in boxes rather than plastic bags when I do not bring my own. I'm VERY glad a place like this exists in this area! I don't know what I'd do without it, in some ways. read more

Ok, so I was feeling like I wanted to construct a Massaman curry. I needed, let's say, some eclectic ingredients. So I decided to give Asian Market a try. Black rice, check. Massaman Curry paste, check. Red curry paste, check. Red boat fish sauce, check...etc! I must say, I was very pleased with their selection. This place is wall to wall with items. This Asian Market is big when you comparing it to other Asian mom and pop types store, but you can't expect to compare it to other large chain Asian Market since they are not even comparable. This Asian Market offer actually most main stream Asian foods imaginable and other specialty food items. The best Asian Market I've been to (although I haven't been to many). It was extremely clean and checkout was painless with up-to-date registers. The prices seemed decent with most items reasonably priced and some bellow what I've seen in other stores. They have food from a lot of different countries, but I'm mostly interested in Japanese ingredients and snack. This store has become my one-stop shop for all Japanese foods. read more

We were so happy to find this place in Lafayette. It is loaded with vegan meats, canned and frozen. So many vegans don't even know that asian markets have these great products and just go without in deserts like Lafayette. I went to this store yesterday at 7:15ish.... The guy who works the register came rushing and grabbed my wallet saying "I check it" or so, It was hard to understand. He opened up my wallet and started going through my stuff... I had a six pack of beer to I figured he needed my ID so I took my wallet from him and handed him my DL he looked at it for a while so I said Im 29 and he laughed and so did the guy holding the broom who was standing kinda behind me to my right. After that he kept talking to me in a language I obviously cannot understand so I was very confused.... He bagged my stuff and handed me my credit card with a business card... and instead of giving me my bags he walked outside with my stuff so I followed him outside and he kept telling me: "Where's your car???" "Where's your car???" and I was completely uncomfortable at this point so I did not want him to come to my car so I took my stuff from him and walked to my car and locked the doors but he stayed outside until I drove off... This whole thing made me so uncomfortable. I will not be going back here, and I would advise that girls do not go here alone either... read more
