Super clean
Enrique Q.

I'm here from out of town for work and was in need of washing clothes. I found this place on Yelp and I gatta say this is the most modern laundry place I have ever seen. All machines take credit/debit cards as well as coins. Even the trash cans are push button to open and close I couldn't believe it. The place is super clean and everything is new here. The lady working here named Maria was so nice and helpful, she guided me through using the machines it was very easy. She even mentioned they have a laundry service here that I'll probably take advantage of the next time I come in. This place has it all good prices, cleanliness and service was excellent!

Good bye quarters!

Very nice staff, especially Yolanda! Excellent fluff and fold service in addition to the laundromat.

This is a well oiled machine. Or well laundered . It was super clean, the staff were helpful and people were very respectful of others.

They're open daily from 6 am to 10 pm with last wash at 8:30 pm and are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. There's no coin machine and everything is contactless payment, which is honestly a relief. The space is clean and well maintained, with plenty of laundry carts, ample folding tables with shelves, comfy seating, big 65-inch TVs, and free WiFi. Parking is not huge, but there are dedicated spots and I've never had trouble finding one. If you can, avoid rush hours and weekends for a smoother experience. They also offer laundry drop-off service if you're short on time. I never really interacted with the staff, but the place always felt busy and running smoothly, which says a lot. One thing worth saying for those complaining about last wash times. Please be considerate. Do not come in after 8:30 pm expecting to start a load. Last wash means last wash. This is the same as showing up to a restaurant five minutes before closing and expecting full service. Staff is tired and wants to go home. Bonus points for 7-Eleven right next door for snacks or drinks. I usually brought a book and didn't mind the wait. Now that I finally have a working washer at home, I haven't needed to go back yet, but I would absolutely return if I did. Clean, convenient, and exactly what you want in a neighborhood laundromat.

Another camper told me she had seen bad reviews of this business, but I dismissed the idea as a few outlying cranks who always show up in the review threads. I had hoped my observations would debunk the negative reviews, but as it turns out, there is a sound basis for those reviews, with the only positive reviews for the Linden Laundromat dating back years ago. At first glance the laundromat looks pleasant enough, but in retrospect, I now realize that I've never actually seen the place busy. Indeed, it seems the locals know better, and the two other customers I encountered during my visit were from out of town. I usually prefer to use a front-loading washer, but for such a small load, I figured I would use the smaller top-loading machine. Well, I thought wrong. It turns out that all 12 of the top-loading washing machines were tagged "out of service". While some of the top-loaders were clearly inoperative, I find it hard to believe all 12 machines broke down at the same time, so I concur with the other reviewer who suspects the machines were deliberately shut down to steer customers to the more expensive machines. Which brings us then to the double capacity front-loading machines. While the smaller machines were already pricey at $3.50 per load, the double capacity machines will set you back $4.75 per load. I was willing to pay the extra buck, but upon inspection, I found several of these machines were a bit dilapidated, and while I did not open all 9 machines, each of the three I did open smelled badly of mildew. (Pro tip: if the machine smells like mildew, find another machine; you will barely be able to smell the mildew on your clothes, but it will definitely be there.) So now I'm looking at the even larger triple capacity machine. All of the triple-loaders were a little newer than the previous machines, and more importantly, none smelled of mildew. However, this came with a cost, as these machines required a whopping 30 quarters (almost a full roll), for a total of $7.50. For a single load. However, even at $7.50 for my single load, I counted myself lucky as I watched the couple in the adjoining 4-load machine struggle to insert the 38 quarters required for that machine. It turns out the owners don't collect the change from the machines often enough, and the coin bin was full, thus preventing the customer from getting credit for each coin, while also preventing the customer from getting their money back via the coin return. Of course, this problem did not present itself until the customer had already put $8.00 into the machine, so they had no choice but to keep stuffing more quarters into the slot, until they were finally able to reach the magic number of $9.50 (the guy told me they actually spent $11 to reach $9.50 in the machine). Of course, some of these issues could be handled by an attendant, but none was to be found. One last observation: while my clothes did come out clean, the machine I ended up using never kicked into "overdrive" during the spin cycle, thus costing me a bit more time in the dryer. So while I went to the Linden Laundromat expecting to refute the critics, it turns out they were right. It's hard to escape the conclusion that the owners have stopped caring, and are content to rake in the coins from the unwary traveler who only realizes too late that there are other laundry options in Carpinteria.
