My only complaint was the prices for this place. $25 for a cheese burger and fries is criminal. I would stick with the foodcourt instead of bar food.

The resort is owned by the venerable Woodstock Inn, a gem of national distinction. And the upscale air is evident in the friendliness and poise of the staff at Saskadena. A huge lodge with historical pictures everywhere, including memorializing the first motorized life transportation in the US, a 900 foot rope tow built in 1934. Formerly named Suicide Six, the resort centers around a modern yet charming lodge with a huge hearth, a bustling cafeteria, and a well stocked bar. The resort is a scant eight minute ride from the beautiful town of Woodstock, where the Rockefeller and Billings legacy is still visible. Parking at Saskadena Six is not an issue, the parking areas are close to the lodge and a ramp takes the visitor to the lodge area. Saskadena Six has been a part of the Indy Pass for a few years now, and it has become a family favorite. Entering the lodge, one can perform ticket purchases inside or outside. Donning boots and equipment is done in benches and chairs in the lodge, with inside cubicles around the walls. The lodge has plate glass windows on its entire slope facing side, providing beautiful views of the ski area. Once ready to hit the slopes, the nearest lift is the fixed quad that takes the visitor to the 1,200 foot summit. The resort has a 650-foot vertical drop, featuring 24 runs on 100 acres.. Besides the quad, Saskadena sports a double lift on the far side of the resort, and a J-bar. The challenging Show Off run is a steep, mogul filled track, while The Face and Crystal are parallel black diamonds. Several other runs feature both natural, groomed and mogul filled. Saskadena Six usually gets 110 inches of yearly snow, augmented by a vigorous snowmaking system. Dining at Saskadena Six is quick and efficient. A roped off area separates the alcohol-served areas from the rest of the lodge. Several local brews are on tap, as well as national selections. Skiing Saskadena is a pleasure. Small but quite pleasant, devoid of the stress of the larger ski areas in New England. Its history and charm are welcome assets in an industry where sterility seems to be popular. Terrain is rated 30% beginner, 40% intermediate and 30% advanced.

Every minute was worthwhile and he focused on my weak points rather than wasting time on things I already felt comfortable with. He had all kinds of useful tips and pointers that I still use to this day. However, the best part came seven years later. I just moved to Boston and got a car. However, I had forgotten how to parallel park (not something you do all that much in Vermont!). I just called him to ask if he could remind me of his handy tips for how to parallel park. He called me back within 30 minutes and gave me an excellent refresher. So sweet of him! If I could, I'd take another driving class with him any day.

Actually I did once when I came in for a transfer and he was hostile and belligerent, but he calmed down when he realized he was wrong, so I chalked it up to a bad day, and never told anybody about it. I have always defended this guy because the countless times I have been in there bought stuff, he's always been ok. I figured the customers who hate that place just had sensitivity issues, but I just experienced the obnoxious clown this guy actually is. I always just bought things from him, never asked him for 'help' with anything. I own so many pistols, I can even accurately guess how many, but never owned a Glock. A friend of mine who is a Glock fanatic since the first G17 came into America, finally wore me down last year and I bought the .22, a G44. I really liked it, so I got the G19. That has been flawless, so I just bought a G30. Something is wrong with it. Every case either hits me in the face, or flies straight up and lands on the gun, my hand or my arms (300 rounds so far). There is no limp-waisting going on. Even when I uncomfortably lock in (hold the gun rock solid), nothing changes. All the same ammo flies 8' out of my Springfield XD45. I called Glock, and they told me to see a certified armorer. I called the black ops shop guy, because he's listed as a Glock armorer. He was even more hostile than I experienced with the transfer above. First he mocked my proficiency, the after I stated my proficiency (even understated it), he said "Then you should be able to fix it yourself" in the same belligerent manner. My 50 years of handgun proficiency tells me there is something wrong with the gun and should have it looked at by someone more familiar with a Glock. Nothing mechanically or visually looks wrong, so as any intelligent human being I knew to take it to an expert instead of randomly buy parts until, or if, its fixed. All this guy would say was "Nothing in my Glock Armorer training says anything about hitting in face with cases". Is he some type of moron or just a straight up a**hole? I give him the symptom of the problem and he mocks me with a comment so lame I stared wondering if he was gaslighting me. I'm done with this guy. No time for his BS.

But we really had no choice as our trip from CO was planned a while back. I have been through the area in the past and know how lovely it can be. This wasn't one of those days, but that was just bad luck. The architecture of the residential areas around the edges of downtown shows off much in classic homes, so definitely look around. That's where we did find free parking and walked into the business district from there. There were beautiful plantings in all the yards and interesting trees along the sidewalk. We did need lunch as we had been turned away from our first choice a bit earlier up in Quechee so we knew it would even be tough here. It was a Friday and should be expected every fall in VT. We did find Dr. Coburns Tonic, an historic drugstore location done up well in decor, with a friendly staff but somewhat mediocre food. We window shopped along the street seeing shop after shop of pricey ladies apparel. There must have been some art shops along the way but too rainy to spend much time. But the architecture everywhere was in great shape, not a bad building in sight. So different form the pass through we had done in Bennington the day before expecting a similar vibe, but did not find. We did like the views around Woodstock also. The drive down from Quechee was nicely forested and later in the fall will be in beautiful color. I'd love to go back a bit later in the season and custom order a bright warm sunny fall day. But reality... just need to get lucky. Maybe you will.

The town is very quaint. Has a town square with nice places tom picnic if you want. Or pick one of the restaurant options. After that lunch you can stroll around town and check out some cute stores, most of which will have maple syrup, and many other things, for sale. There are some bed and breakfasts around and I bet AirBNB too. This is a lovely town with lots of hiking and plenty of history around.
