As an expat it was a breath of fresh air to find a shop carrying a few New Zealand brands and favorites. Watties, Griffins, Cookie Time, L & P, K Bars, Edmonds. There are definitely a few goodies here for those craving a taste of Aotearoa. Interestingly the shop doesn't appear to be staffed by Kiwi's. In fact we had an amusing conversation with the lady behind the counter because we were drawn in there by the chance of finding NZ cooked fish and chips. She told us she was a local, had been doing chips for years and couldn't see any real difference in how they were cooked. She managed to burn the fish while explaining this. In her defence the portion size we went home with was reasonably generous and they certainly weren't the worst we'd tried in Brisbane. We'd arrived near closing time but noted their espresso counter while we were there. They look like they do a roaring lunchtime trade in Merlo coffee and cafe food too. read more

We took over from the previous owners in 2015 and have developed the business increasing the food side of it. Offering fresh sandwiches salads rolls and our great variety of hot foods.

For years I have worked in the hospitality trade and decided that it was time to work for ourselves. With a passion for food we were very excited when this opportunity came along. I had worked along side my husband in restaurants in NZ and our son developed a natural talent in this industry as well. We moved from Sydney where we had lived for 26 years after arriving from New Zealand.

This little convenience store has saved my butt many times. When I've been missing an ingredient…read morefor a recipe a quick trip here has solved the problem. It's much quicker to get to and home again than a trip to Chermside. It's small and stocks the basics. Usually closed by 9pm but open nearly all public holidays. They now have a small ATM just inside the door and eftpos available if spending over $5.

There is nothing wrong with this KFC. That's about the best I can do…read more There are only two fast food drive thru's in my local area, and it's either this or McDonald's at Toombul. But that's actually on top of the shopping centre so a little more annoying than this one. Be careful, it's difficult to turn right out of the street onto Sandgate Rd, so if you're heading North you might want to backtrack to the lights. Otherwise the quality is of any KFC. Chips, that for some reason always seem a little off. Discoloured and soft. But it's fast. And it's food (okay so that's up for debate). Nothing calling me back here. Actually more pushing me away. But that has nothing to do with Clayfield KFC, simply the chain itself. Let's see how long it takes me to get back here though...
