We completed (literally) one round of stair-walking and decided it was brunch time. Some of the steps are loose and wiggle when you step on them; be forewarned. Nevetheless, the Stairs clearly have their fans; lots of people were working out here the Friday we went. Speaking of Fridays.....keep an eye on the bizarre parking hours. Basically, parking on the north side of Adelaide is completely verboten EXCEPT for two hours on Friday mornings. For those two hours, parking is forbidden on the south side of the street. I am guessing this is due to street-cleaning rules. And knowing the Santa Monica police intimately, they have nothing better to do than give you a ticket one minute after the time stated and have you towed. Also, don't do push-ups in the middle of the street, okay?! There's a sign for that too, so obviously someone has done exactly that. On the positive side, the views are stunning and it's free. Free is good! Have fun.

I didn't buy anything at the concession stand but it looked to have all the options one would expect. I did use the bathroom. Two options. A couple down stairs and a bigger bathroom upstairs. Very clean. Very nice. The theater was fantastic. The picture/sound was of the best. The chairs are decent. They lean way back as you sit back and felt very comfortable. We sat in the last row of the first section. Now this movie is instantly one of my all time favorites. I don't cry that often, but this one ripped my heart out. And as Nicole Kidman says in those other less nice theaters...heartbreak felt good in a place like this.

Parking does kind of suck but it's there, get to work a bit early to find some, the entrances seem poorly designed compared to colorado center.

They were super clean, well maintained, and well lit. Me and my daughter felt safe. I was surprised to note that when we returned later in the day that there is an attendant available to answer questions or provide support. This place is a winner in my book.

It used to be shops after shops along the three blocks. Busy businesses one after the other. The holiday and weekend were alway packed with people. Also a major destination for holiday makers wanting to see what this place is all about. Now there's nothing but empty vacant spaces. The three blocks that once use to be bustling with people is like somewhat a ghost town. You still have a few scattered shops here and there and some restaurants, but majority is empty. Even with them trying to incorporate alcohol onto the strip to encourage people to shop and visit, it doesn't seem to work. It's still pretty quiet with loads of empty spaces. Some stores have survived but at least 60 to 70 percent have vanished. It's not the same third street promenade I remember. Don't get me wrong, people still come but it's not the same hustling crowd as it once was. They still have the farmers market which I think is still one of the better one. Amazing fresh produce to choose from. You do get loads of the chefs coming for their weekly fresh produce as well as the locals. At least that's still a positive for the area. Besides that, they'll still get holiday makers visiting and walking the blvd. But the experience, won't be the same. Hopefully it'll come through and be the nice spot if once was. One can hope.

We miss Rosenthal's tasting room on PCH, so we had a little bit of nostalgia heading up to the estate. We actually ran into the owner, Ken at one of our stops. Both Ken and Steven are terrific hosts. Since it is a timed visitation, you probably meet a few enthusiastic also heading to the Eames HOUSE. Say hello and walk together. First question popped from all of us is "are you doing the exterior or interior?" Lol who got $200 something loose change in the pocket? Turns out, the Eames Foundations really rely on the interior tour proceeds to up keep this historical home. It is sad seeing the white curtains are bleached by the California sun it reminds me of Pringo chips while the exterior wood panels seasoned by the ocean spray like 60 days aged steak. While pacing ourself along the railroad wood passageway, the guide invites us to look into the inside of the kitchen, the living room and spiral stairs. The building is constructed with exposed steels and glasses which fulfilled one of the criteria of the competition- to utilized materials that were invented or used during the WWII. I really appreciate the Eames House is spared from the wild fire.

Charles and Ray Eames were a husband and wife team most known for their iconic furniture designs and explorations with bent wood. This house was their personal residence and quite special since you can see they were also collectors of exotic and odd artifacts from all around the world. The house you can see inside of but you cannot take pictures from anywhere closer than 10 feet away and they do offer interior tours but they are expensive. The cost to enter was pretty high and my kids were bored quickly but I could not help but nerd out with the docents about the Eames. I'm much thankful for some of the personal anecdotes and stories they shared. Views are amazing and you can see the beach from their backyard. When we went it was the first time the studio had ever been open to the public but instead of a working preserved studio it was an empty room with large posters and computers explaining their work. Not worth coming here to see just the newly opened studio if you've been here before. They have a small amount of gifts and souvenirs for sale, I regret not buying the Eames collaboration Polaroid camera.

This museum is located on Main street in Ocean Park, Santa Monica. I accidentally strolled by Main street and saw this museum. It's a very small museum whereby you can see the entire museum in 5 minutes! And I'm not being facetious. You'll find some interesting artifacts. Today, the admission was free. They have a permanent collection and rotating exhibit. Overall, this museum is a bonafide golden gem of the community. I recommend you visit if you have 5 minutes to spare.

I've been a couple times now, the first time I don't recall any issues, but recently I found the docents oddly unfriendly. As I waited for a friend to use the restroom, they kept peering out of their office to check on me as though I was looking for trouble. Their problem was that you're not supposed to explore the bottom level without guidance. It's a stupid rule. The museum is small enough to explore in less than 30 minutes, so being forced to have someone guide you makes it feel very stuffy. It'd be much nicer to simply offer a guide, that's the point of a docent, I thought. Maybe just go in and ignore them, it'll be more entertaining that way.
