The hotel lobby is lovely and very traditional. The hotel rooms however are run down and disappointing. The room we were upgraded to had a beautiful view of the beach and the ocean, and normally costs up to €1000/night is tired with dated furniture. The carpet is patched in areas and stained. The details in the room are badly executed. They didn't bother restocking coffee, water or any details in the morning or at turn down. Waste of money. We had a very expensive dinner in the restaurant the first night, and while I understand they may have just reopened, it was mediocre with very disappointing over priced food. The staff were friendly but untrained. Would NOT stay here again. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Barriere twice, the first time was 10 years ago and most recently last week. Both stays were wonderful! It's difficult to cast my mind back to 10 years ago, so this review is based on our recent stay. Our room was located on the 6th floor and we were fortunate to secure a room that overlooked the beach. The view is amazing, my wife and I enjoyed looking out at the beach and watching horses running along the beach. The room was nicely appointed with a king size bed, a flat screen TV, USB ports, and a large soaking tub in the bathroom. The room probably could've been cleaner. For example, the grout in the shower was dirty and there was dirt on the bathroom door. Overall, the room was nice! Perhaps the best part of the hotel was the service. The entire hotel staff was excellent. From the Front Desk, the Concierge, Dining Room/Bar Staff, and to the Housekeeping Staff, everyone was very helpful and accommodating. We may not be coming back to Deauville for another 10 years, but when we do, we're looking forward to staying at the Royal Barriere again. read more

In A Nutshell: -The Hotel Barriere le Royal along w/ the town of Deauville is historic due to it's strong connection to Madame Chanel. -Yes, that CoCo Chanel. -This is where she enjoyed staying along w/ the other rich & famous from France & all around the world. -As a city w/ moderate temperatures, there is no need for A/C. -Unfortunately, I was there during a small heat wave, so I left the windows open. -Some mosquitoes got inside, which made sleeping a bit tougher. -The hotel itself is very, very old. -You can smell the decades whenever you walk the huge hallways. -For a so-called 5 star hotel, I would give this a 3 star ranking. -The location is very good b/c it's central, right next to the beach and the ultra-cute downtown. Overall, it was cool to say I stayed here, but I wouldn't stay here again. read more

Worst hotel I've EVER stayed at. Rooms were extremely dirty, to such an extent, that when we called to complain about the stink in the bathroom, the manager sent an orchid with a note "Sorry for our uncleanliness". And that should not be at such an expensive hotel. (Paid 750 euros a night). Room service is terrible. It took over an hour and fifteen minutes to bring up our food and when we called to ask where it was the lady said "I do not understand, and hung up" Not one staff member of this hotel went to hotel school, nor do they have any manners. If we would be paying 200 euros a night one understands their disorganized and unfriendly staff, but definitely not at this rate! read more

A great service as expected from a palace! The hotel is well located close to city center, to the convention center and facing the sea. It is a nice and charming place with large rooms and balcony perfect for the summer. Rooms need to be refreshed but overall really nice ones. The service is perfect and the conciergery is making sure that everything you need is done as quick as possible. Great restaurant and breakfast as well. I recommend this palace for business or vacation. read more
