All credit to the MFU Dept, who assessed, advised and gave me excellent treatment. Top marks for…read moretheir attention and service. There may be criticisms of this hospital, but the attitude, care, understanding and help I witnessed whilst waiting to be seen was outstanding. Future patients should not be put off by such reviews. However, having been put off by Queen Alexandra's Hospital in Portsmouth by their lack of physical tour (you have to get by with a substandard YouTube video), and also feedback from others that it was a busy hospital and somewhat akin to a sausage machine (I had one story of someone being in and out in 12 hours - and they didn't necessarily want to be processed so quickly), I decided to opt for Chichester. It was the right choice - indeed quieter, albeit a bit older looking, but still fit for purpose. This maternity ward is very well run, the midwife was very good and I got the epidural that I wanted (needed!) for my third baby. I would definitely recommend this hospital to any nervous mums. Getting the tour and having a chance to ask questions and familiarize oneself with the layout was really helpful in orientating me to the NHS way and allaying any fears/answering questions. My only pick up point was infant security. As I left the hospital the receptionist let me swan out - no outgoing checks, no bracelet checking, no escort to the door, nothing. It made me wonder what the protocol was should there be an attempted baby theft...

My mum recently was admitted to Poole Hospital, and I will say that certain parts of the hospital…read morehave good facilities, while others are seriously lacking... The staff on the ward that my mum was on were terrible! Arrogant and uncaring! And this made me angry enough to wright a review. Now the main thing I wanted to state is the food, if you can even call it food! It's disgusting! My mum ordered no plate of food for one of the courses because my mum has trouble swallowing so she can only have soft food, so she ordered soup which was like water and 2 semolina pots, but she didn't get the 2 semolina pots... She got one, well... A little bit in the bottom of the container! And I was disgusted that they are giving this to old people! How are people supposed to get better when they are not getting a decent amount of food of good quality? They can't so just needed to state this! All in all it's an okay hospital but some things need TLC and quickly! Xx

The present Poole Hospital (formerly Poole General Hospital)…read morehas been where it is since 1907. Today, the care it provides is fairly formidable, with a High Dependancy Unit, Coronary Care, a specialist Cancer Unit and a Neurologist specialising in Brain Injury. The A&E unit is very high tech, with patients being brought from all over the county once they have been stabilized. Originally the hospital was in a property donated by Lady Wimborne in 1857 in Market St. It was known as 'Cecelia's Hospital for in her honour. In 1907, the hospital moved to its current location, but was no more than a seven bedroom house. Over the years it has been added to. In the last ten years, they stopped adding, and redisigned parts of it. Now it looks a bit tidier and the interior is much more pleasant. Some wards have stunning views over the harbour.
