    Curried Goat

Curried goat (because you are what you eat, so if you wanna be the GOAT u gotta have some Caribbean takeout sometimes) Rice & Peas, fried plantains, and 2 Jamaican drinks! Loved this lunch! Have a ton leftover and I am hoping my boyfriend will try it when he gets home from work! Love trying to get him to try different and unique food. Don't think he's ever had goat Super flavorful meal. I love the rice & peas which are actually rice and beans- super good. The fried plantains are also delicious- wish they gave me more they have a perfect sweet savory flavor and have an almost rum liquor aftertaste but in a caramelized way, not in a punch you in the throat shot type of way I liked that the goat came with big bones and some of the meat was still on the bone. I love that, and I love when people keep the traditional cooking native to their country without americanizing everything. You could save the bones and pay homage to the Stones album by making Goats Head Soup

Solid Caribbean food. I am a fan of this type of food, and this place was not as good as some of the other places serving Caribbean food. It's still good though, and especially unique for the Wilkinsburg area. I tried the beef meat patty and the brown stew chicken with a side of rice and peas along with plantains. I thought the meat patty was quite good. It had an extremely lovely, crispy, and buttery outside. It's filled with a fair amount of well cooked beef and even a few vegetables. It was a bit spicier than I expected. The size was good for the price of just $4 or so. The brown stew chicken was also quite good. However, I would say the portion of meat is not the greatest. More than half of the plate was just the rice, when I thought half of the plate would be meat. That's fine by me since I enjoy the rice more than chicken, but for most people it would be disappointing. The meat quality was fair, but it had lots of skin and tons of bones, so not the greatest portion. But, the chicken was flavorful and had a decent texture. The plantain portion was extremely small. But, you are able to chose 2 sides for free with your meal, so that is nice. The small bits of plantains were tasty and sweet, although they seemed almost a bit oily. The rice was very good. They give you a very large portion of it as well! I really enjoyed the flavor as well. It was not too oily and went well with the chicken. I wish there was more gravy to soak the rice with. It came with peas which are actually beans, and I'm overall satisfied. All in all, this is a decent place. It's especially good and stands out in Wilkinsburg. The brown stew chicken is solid but the meat portion itself is not that big. Good sides. Solid but spicy patties.

Had the Jerk Chicken dinner with rice and beans and greens. Fire If it's cold, warm up with some jerk chicken. Perfect level of spice for me, but i love it hot. I can always tell the perfect level of heat for me cause I'll just barely hiccup once or twice if I eat it too fast!!!! That's how you know, fyi. The whole fish looks amazing too. Get it now, cause whole fish snapper dinner with two sides for $20 has definitely NOT been adjusted for inflation recently.

Jerk Chicken was delicious with the mashed potatoes and rice with beans. Was so good I couldn't stop eating it! Never had ox tail before took a chance in it and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely gonna get this again!

What's for dinner? (Monday~ March 16, 2020) Brown stew red snapper, red beans & peas & cabbage!!! Yummy Yummy!!! Meal specs: I had to get a smaller snapper today since they didn't have bigger ones! Oh well, it was still delicious!! As usual, I got extra gravy!!! The brown stew leaves such a good taste in your mouth. The fish was flakey & cooked perfectly!! The veggies seemed freshly cooked & they were a good consistency. I even eat the onions! ‍ The red beans & peas weren't bad (a little on the dry side but that's what the extra gravy helps with) and my cabbage was good but my husband & son's meal's cabbage seemed haggard. They must have gotten the tail end while I didn't! Bon appétit!!! Pictures @ Royal Caribbean Restaurant (Disclaimer: This picture is not from this visit! I forgot to take a picture. Here is a picture from the time before when I got a huge piece of fish!)

The true Jamaican breakfast (for lunch), Akee and Saltfish with a side of plantain. Done right!

I have been a customer of Jam Jerk multiple times for about one year. Through the Market Wagon website, I ordered a Sorrel BBQ Jerk Pork dinner and a Jamaican beef patty. I really enjoyed the flavors of the jerk pork, beef patty (ground beef and spices inside a flaky crust), plantains, and salad. I thought that the rice with beans and the cocoa bread tasted OK. Most recently, I ordered a Curry Chicken Bowl, which contained Caribbean curry chicken, rice, plantains, potatoes, and salad with dressing; and a Jerk Shrimp Bowl, which contained shrimp, rice, plantains, kale salad, and jerk sauce. All of the ingredients were very fresh, and I very much enjoyed their flavors.

It was so easy to schedule this service and there were meal options for everybody (including even our gluten free/vegan attendees). It can be really scary to order catering, especially when you're a few states away. However, processing payment was simple and direct and communication was outstanding. Everybody who attended raved about the food and drinks (which came in awesome reusable bottles). The food was delivered hot and on time. I cannot recommend Jam Jerk enough and if we find ourselves doing more work in Pittsburgh, we will absolutely be ordering catering from them again!

I tried several items, including the brown stew chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and the beef patties. The brown stew chicken was delicious. I got it in the large size and it was indeed quite large. The chicken is seasoned well but not too spicy. It's tender, and although I tend not to like dark meat, I really enjoyed it from this place. They served it with potatoes, which were nicely cooked, and carrots, which went really well with the sauce. You get 2 sides with your meal so I choose the rice with peas and the cabbage. The cabbage was very flavorful and just tasted homey. Several other vegetables mixed in too. They gave me a ton of rice and peas, which is great because I thought it was delicious. Soft rice, especially with the chicken, just mixed perfectly. Delicious, delicious, delicious. The beef patties were also very tasty. The inside is in a way almost creamy. It's filled with juicy meat, and the outside stayed nice and crisp. Very nice. All in all, definitely a great place. One of the better Caribbean spots in Pittsburgh for sure. I'd order delivery from them again (I think they are delivery only).

I…read morehad been following Caribbean Vybz on Instagram and liking and drooling over just about every picture they posted for a while, but just never got to visit as by the time I got home from work they were either closed or had ran out of what I wanted. Fast forward a year or so and much to my joy they announced via social media that they had stopped cooking out of their home and started a food truck! One day I saw that they would be on Larimer Avenue in the Larimer section of the city so I made my way there expeditiously as T.I. would say. LOL! I already knew that I was going to go with their Curry shrimp with cabbage and rice & peas! I also got a Tropical Rhythms Island Mango drink to wash it all down. A few minutes later I had my food and made my way home. You guessed it, expeditiously! LOL! As soon as I started to dig in I was taken back as I hadn't had Jamaican food this good since Mama Rose on nearby Mayflower Street in the late 90's! The shrimp was perfectly cooked and full of flavor! The cabbage was tender and the rice and peas were delicious as well! My food was so good that I told my wife about it and ended up going back the same day to get us their Jerk chicken for dinner. Unfortunately it was near the end of the night and they had ran out of cabbage, but gave us extra chicken which more than made up for not having anymore cabbage. The jerk chicken was absolutely incredible! Very authentic and just as delicious! Be sure to follow them on Instagram @caribbeanvybzllc to see where they will be next! I still can't believe that authentic Jamaican food like this can come out of a food truck!

There are a few options around Pittsburgh for Jamaican cuisine but this is certainly one of my favorites.
