You would never guess that this delightful desert bar had only been open for three days. When we came here for an ice cream after dinner the place looked slick and smoothly run. It was busy but didn't feel crowded and it had a lovely relaxed feel with its clever placement of candles and cushions. Run by Tiarne and Hayley, who are barely out of high school, they have taken on a huge challenge, which they seem to be meeting effortlessly at this stage. The fit out is perfect with its feature brick wall and hanging pendant lights. The dining area is segregated from the ice creamery by a dividing wall which is an improvement on the Henley Beach sister cafe. This means that the topping bar doesn't get messy or intrude into the quieter dining area. Concertina doors allow an indoor outdoor feel on warm nights if you are inside and there is also an outside seating area, with beach views. The general Copenhagen Formula is the same with a great selection of gourmet ice creams and deserts but the cafe feels a cut above the rest in fit out and service. Well done girls! read more

Always a favourite local haunt for their hot cinnamon donuts and hot chocolate with the layer of melted milk chocolate around the rim that i lick off while enjoying my drink, Copenhagen is the place to go. This morning my partner ordered the white chocolate and berry pancakes which were delicious! ...Ok so the first plate they brought out the cook accidentally put salt in the pancakes instead of sugar (yuck) but after my partner approached them he was given a replacement plate and 6 free donuts. It's the only time we've ever been given anything other than what we ordered and we were definitely taken care of and apoloigised to profusely. It's a cosy little joint with an exposed brick wall and large glass french doors that they open on a warm day. If it's cool outside the smell of warm donuts and the comfort of the low lighting will quickly make yout forget the chilly outdoors. read more

Royal Copenhagen makes their own waffle cones fresh on site and are utterly delicious. Staff are friendly and work well as a team in a busy store and are even happy to give you recommendations, something not often seen in franchised ice cream parlours. The store is unusually spacious and relaxed and reflects the Brighton vibe. Open late, I normally swing by on hot days for a late night beach walk and something yummy to eat. Hoo boy, Royal Copenhagen was on our minds when we were in town. There are a lot of branches everywhere in Adelaide, so it's hard to resist the urge, especially when you're staying near the beach! Ice cream just makes sense! A free choc dunk for cones is A+ in my books, particularly when you can then smash some nuts, sprinkles and/or fudge all over your dessert yourself. WHAT A TREAT. This is the cutest ice creamery I have ever seen. There is about 20 flavours to choose from and there is also complimentary chocolate and caramel toppings to add, along with sprinkles and nuts. Very nice! I chose a scoop of the banana and of the watermelon. I wanted to try something different, but I'd probably choose something more familiar next time, like chocolate! The staff were very patient when my friends and I took longer than usual to choose what we wanted and they girl who served me was very polite. Copenhagen at Brighton is a great place to meet friends after dinner or to just catch up for a snack. I noticed they also had waffles and other desert items to choose from. I'd suggest grabbing an ice cream and then taking a walk down on the beach. Bliss! read more

Another Fridays on the train adventures found me in Brighton--but not by plan. I had intended to ride the Seaford line all the way South and back on my first trip to get a sense of the journey. Metro had other plans. The train went as far Brighton and then everyone (except me) offloaded to buses for the rest of the journey. Metro was upgrading the rest of the line and providing buses. It was a hot day and Metro staff was handing out bottled water to everyone getting on the buses---and to me too. Thanks Metro. As the buses headed out, I took off on foot for Brighton. A short walk got me to the centre of all the cafes and restaurants and a stroll up and down the street offered a lot of choice for a coffee and cake snack before heading back for the return train. Having been to the Royal Copenhagen in Semaphore several times and ALWAYS getting great coffee, I decided no to experiment and just try the Brighton branch. It's substantially larger than the Semaphore location with lots of inside and outside seating. Service was quick and friendly--no surprise. A nice piece of cappuccino cake I picked out was served at my table, followed quickly by a big mug latte. The coffee was great, as always at RC, but the cake wasn't as good as it looked in the display case. I'd have been happier with less sugar and more flavour. I guess that's an occupational hazard if your profession is afternoon coffee and cake. People watching is great here, even inside, as the sidewalk wall is mostly open. The also have 'puppy ice cream,' so it looks like a drive down with the dog is in order at some point. If you find yourself in Brighton looking for a coffee and are overwhelmed by the choices, RC won't disappoint. Ditto for ice cream too. It might not be che'che', but it's a solid choice. Copenhagen Ice-creamery is the best place to grab a cold treat on a hot summer's day. They have a range of different items available including super rich ice-cream that doesn't cost the world. There are many different flavours, which are creamy and evidently full of saturated fat and sugar. Some of my personal favourites include chocolate, cookies and cream and strawberry. Some of the flavours are stronger than others however the free chocolate topping in the waffle cones adds a lot of taste. They are around $4 a scoop or so, however the scoops are very generous. Something that is quite neat is the DIY ice-cream area where you can decorate some of your own ice-cream and dessert treats. The best part about it is the fact that it is open late, meaning that if you suddenly have a craving for ice-cream at 9pm at night. Note that it is probably best to bring a few coins or some cash around, because they don't do EFTPOS (from what I am aware of). Also, something to be aware of, is the fact that it can be quite a wait during the summer if everyone is lining up for ice-cream. They generally have an adequate number of staff but you will definitely need patience if you choose a peak time of the day. read more

Gimme more gimme more waffles! That's right, WAFFLES. I had previously been to Copenhagen at Glenelg and tried one waffle takeaway with a scoop of icecream which was my plan on returning to Brighton Copenhagen. To my dismay there was only "waffle meals" on their menu, waffles with icecream, fruit & other things for around $12.00 whereas my waffle and icecream previously eaten was a great $7.00 or so. I asked the girl at the counter if they could do it for me and she happily said yes, excellent customer service here. I got my waffle plated up very nicely to eat inside (it was still too early for their warm fire though) and it was reasonably quiet although it was a weeknight. About a week earlier I went here to try a coffee for the first time, and for coffee from an icecreamery it was pretty great! read more

One star for nada wrong with the ice cream, another for how nice the shop itself is fitted out, and another for being able to get ice cream at 10:30 at night here. They lose a star for having a line that went out the door and down Jetty Rd (one extra staff member wouldn't have hurt) and another star for not having EFTPOS working. Look I get they just opened but surely in this day and age you could've got your payment technology set up in advance, does anyone actually carry cash anymore? Perfect for a late night treat is copenhagen at Brighton. The icecream is lovely, big variety and offered to u in a choc dipped cone. I would advise sharing the sundae waffle basket as it is huge! The death by choc waffle lived up to its name, u will never see a waffle so covered in choc on the side of their signature Dutch choc icecream. Not for the faint hearted! They also do the most beautiful cocktails, I highly reccomend the toblerone. U will never settle for another crappy cocktail after this experience.
