We love Royal Farms! Their offerings of cider and wine are delicious and affordable. They're tasting room nestled behind their main farm store has such a chill relaxing interior. On our latest visit while they were out of bottles of my favorite cider, which is the hard red, a combination of apple and cherry it was still on draft so we enjoyed a flight of four and hiked up the short hill to enjoy the scenic overlook that is waiting for you. Everything we tried in our flight was delicious and we ended up with bottles of everything to bring home. My personal favorites were of course the hard red but also the cheeky cherry, which is a sweet cherry wine and the botanical which is a semi sweet pear tasting cider. Service is always friendly and accommodating. On our way out, we visited the farm shop and picked up some cheeses and a apple cider donut for the road. Cheers! read more

This is one of my favorite stops up north. And if you're worried about COVID, all of the ladies working here were wearing masks and the store is spotless. Everyone who works here seems very welcoming and nice so if you're uncomfortable with anything, you could certainly just ask. This is the type of stop where you can pick up the best of everything Northern Michigan: the BEST pies, freshly picked strawberries and asparagus, a MI puzzle for your week at the cabin, souvenirs for friends from home (or yourself!) and FABULOUS hard cider!!! Really delightful cider stop in our adventures in this area last weekend. Really large selection of ciders and plenty of wines available also. Small assortment of foods as well. Service is always warm and friendly and they were sure to come out to say hello to our pup on the patio and offer some water for her. We were on our way to Petosky yesterday from Traverse City and I noticed this place as we were driving. We are not familiar with the area since we are from Chicagoland. I told husband to pull over and stop! I'm SO happy we did!! I've been wanted a good cookie all week and boy did we find the right spot! Disappointed! We came into Royals for local peaches. They have a half peck for $20, if they pick them or $18 if you pick them. Being short on time I trusted what they picked! Huge mistake. I would have never picked soft and bruised fruit. Once I got them home I was livid. I lost 40 peaches to mold, bruised and browned soft skin. I couldn't even cut a portion off to use in jam. They literally had to be trashed. Pathetic. If you go please pick your own. The woman on the shop was friendly and left us with a good impression but the quality of their picked peck leaves me to not trust them. read more

Meh. I don't think I'd come back. We stopped in on our way back from vacation up North, because their sign advertised fresh asparagus. We walked inside, and it seemed to be more of a shop than a farm. There was a lot of jars from other companies, and things like soaps. There was a little bakery counter that looked pretty good. Royal Farms...what a treat! While on a road trip to Traverse City, my family came across this place off Route 31 in Ellsworth. Entering the store, you'll find a treasure trove of all things cherry...cherry pie, cherry wine, cherry preserves, and more. I purchased a homemade blueberry scone and it did not disappoint! The pastry left me almost speechless with a moist texture and robust blueberry flavor. We also bought a medium container full of bing and rainier cherries and they were devoured within minutes! Lastly, I picked up a small bottle of Michigan maple syrup. I'm looking forward to trying it on my next stack of pancakes back home. I'd also like to mention that Royal Farms is family run so it always feels good to support small business. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Royal Farms is one of my favorite farm stands to stop at. They have a cute little shop that has pies and other pastries, fresh fruit, and other local keepsake items. I noticed that they sell moomers ice cream in their cooler also! They have a tasting room in the back which is beautiful! They have 4 ciders and 7 wines currently. My favorite wine was Breezeway but I did not love it enough to spend $20.99 for a bottle. All of the ciders are delicious but I would say my favorite is the green apple. One of the best hard ciders I have ever had. They do sell growlers and fill growlers of their cider as well as sell bottles of their wine. You can do flights of either cider or wine. They also have snacks and charcuterie boards. The staff is very friendly and helpful! read more

I'm sort of perplexed because the farmstand I visited was in Atwood, on US 31 while yelp notes the location as Ellsworth. Some of these little northern Michigan towns tend to bleed together, it's actually kind of sweet. Something to keep in mind I suppose. I bought a fortifying ice tea and chocolate/cherry/coconut macaroon the size of my fist. Wow, the macaroon was super moist and yummy. I'm glad I don't live closer because I would indulge way too often. p.s.
