They (mostly) have a really good thing going here! Beautiful property, live music, large area for kids to play, pet friendly, tons of outdoor tables. Food was great, drinks were good, although a bit sweet for our liking. But that's just personal preference. We were really impressed at first! I think their downfall is the way they run the tables. I don't think they assign waiters/waitresses to each table, it seems to be a free-for-all. We had 4 different people come to our table and not very frequently. At one point we placed a 2nd drink order and it never arrived so after 15 minutes we asked about it and she said okay and brought it right out. They ended up charging us for two of that drink when it never even came out the first time we asked. When it was time to pay, we waited for 20 minutes for someone to come by so we could pay but they never did so we had to go inside and hope the lady in there could help us. She did! With a little system changing on how they wait on tables, I think all could have a wonderful experience! read more

Okay, I love trying drinks that are "different", and the cysers really hit, the cherry haze being a cool nod to local food culture. The eats were good too, the fries were seasoned well and chicken tenders shared with my niece were yum. Loved the live music and comfortable outside lawn to enjoy flights and food, looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town. read more

Really enjoyed our visit here to try out some local meads - and I'm not a big fan of honey,but my husband is,so I just had to join :) huge grounds with a lovely patio for people to enjoy (doggos allowed,too),great selection of both reasonably priced and varied flavors of mead,along with some food (sandwiches,fries,pizza) available to order from the kitchen. We ordered a flight of different meads,I had honey cider and we had pizza with hot honey sauce,which was lovely. The only downside was that we waited for our food order for nearly an hour,but it was reaaally busy that evening,so we weren't too upset about it. Don't let the vibrant menu descriptions deceive you, this place is a must avoid if you're looking for edible food. The pizza dough is seriously lacking any flavor and comes out burnt to a crisp. The Buddah bowls aren't bowls at all, rather reheated frozen protein on mixed lettuce in a paper tray. We were shocked at how busy it was given the quality of the food and the drinks. This place has become a favorite spot when we are up north for vacation. They have a large selection of meads, cider, beer, and wine, plus non-alcoholic beverages. We have yet to have a bad bite of food from here as well - my family especially loves the pizza! The staff is helpful and friendly and food service is pretty quick considering there's usually a lot of people there. They've also grown over the years and now have a huge seating area outdoors with tons of picnic tables equipped with umbrellas. The beverages, and food is extraordinary The atmosphere is layed back. Perfect! But to stop in and grab some goodies to take back home 3 hours away, with a friend, was the most shocking and embarrassing service I've received at ST, ABROSE, since thier buisness opened. I talked this place up like it was the ultimate destination place in Lower Northwest Michigan. Passing through Benzie county we stopped for take out beverages and we felt like we were inconveniencing the woman talking our order. She was just miserable waiting on us. Loving their products so much, I still spent $100 and sucked up the unacceptable service. The embarrassing part came when my friend said, "After that experience, I definitely wouldn't come back here. I've never have felt so inconvenienced being waiting on by anyone like that". All I could do was apologize for wanting to stop. read more

If you love mead this is a good to spot. Amazing variety of both carbonated and stilled meads. I personally love still mead but all in all it's wonderful. I got a Mead type Toddy and my table ordered a couple wood-fired Pizzas. The Angry Bee was everything I wanted in a pizza. The Drunken Goat was tasty but the artichokes were not for me. I am a huge fan! We came up here to camp for my birthday weekend, and as luck would have it it was a gray, drizzly weekend. We came here for lunch one of the days and it was excellent! We had our dog with us, and he could sit with us on their heated/covered patio - it was absolutely perfect. Each table had its own overhead heater, which was lovely. We tried a couple of flights of wine/mead and really liked everything. My favorite was the ginger mead. The food was good too, and works on a buzzer system where you just go get it yourself when the buzzer goes off. There were a lot of lawn games/chairs out too, and on a nice day this would be a great place to hang out! read more

Showed up around 5:45 P.M July 31st, 2025. Place is packed outside. They were not allowing anyone to eat inside the restaurant. There was a sign that said the kitchen closed at 8 P.M. The hostess said there would be a15 minute wait to seat us. I asked her if there would be enough time for us to eat and she assured me there would be. We actually were not seated until 20 minutes later. We sat down and watched as a waiter took an order from a bachelorette party. He proceeded to go to all the other tables that actually had food already. We watched him speak with a table that were finishing up and spoke with them for 20 minutes! By the time he got to our table we asked if we could order food, too. He said he would take our drinks order and be back "in a second " with a buzzer. The drinks took 10 minutes to arrive. When he brought them back he told us that it would be an hour wait to get food! All this to say is they led us on just to get more drink orders and a tip! I definitely do not recommend this place. It is very poorly run. Not enough wait staff and the communication between the kitchen and hostess is severely lacking. They should have stopped seating people at 6 p.m. It just seems like the owners are greedy and that shows especially with the lack of waitstaff. read more

My wife and I were in the Traverse City area for a weeklong getaway. While on our way back from a drive along the Lake Michigan coast, we stopped at St. Ambrose Cellars. We're big fans of craft beer and visited most of the craft breweries in Traverse City, but this stop was hands down one of our favorites of the trip! The grounds and facilities are beautiful -- casual, comfortable and family-friendly. The staff were also welcoming and accommodating. As far as menu, St. Ambrose Cellars makes their own mead, cider, wine and beer. All were available for flights. My wife and I tried most of the meads and one of the ciders. Everything was really fantastic! Standouts were the X. R. Cyser (apple pie in a glass, yum!), Rythm & Blues Black Currant and Blueberry, Shotgun Wedding Strawberry Rhubarb and Bourbon Barrel Aged Royal Reserve. We didn't eat anything, but the pizzas coming out of the brick oven looked and smelled delicious! St. Ambrose Cellars was a standout of our visit to the Traverse City area, and I'd highly recommend making a stop or going out of your way to visit! read more

I love everything about this place! I've been fortunate to visit this place both in the winter and in the spring. The winter is just a different vibe up north. I loved the snow falling and having some drinks in the igloos. It's a blanket of white with twinkling lights in the night! There is something about winter time that I just find enchanting. The spring time is fresh and new. We found some seats outside and enjoyed spending some time in the warmth of the sun. The property itself is adorable and we just loved the red barn. They have a fantastic selection of wines, ciders and beers. They have many options for food and even have a food truck on the property.I can't wait to come back and visit when we are able to sit indoors and check out the decor of the inside it looks beautiful. We really enjoyed the atmosphere at St. Ambrose. We were in town for a wedding and decided to give this a try. My husband really likes mead, where I'm more of a Cyser gal. He really enjoyed the imperial mead, and I think my favorite drink of the evening was the pumpkin Cyser. I also really enjoyed the frosé. We didn't have to wait long for a table for 2 (even though they were busy), but walking around the small shop killed some time. The only downfall of the evening was the wait for our food. We placed our order pretty quickly after sitting down, and our drinks came out really fast. Our server was excellent, and had no control over the speed of the food coming from the kitchen. When the food made it out the pizza was absolutely delish! I'm glad we got it without the red sauce because that would've been too many things going on. The fries were tender and perfectly salted as well. There was live music going on, a lot of families, and so many dogs!!! That made my day! What a fun spot! We came on a beautiful Friday night, so it was busy, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. Outside seating was spread across the lawn, in front of the barn, where a live band was playing. Atmosphere was casual and fun. Our group of 4 ordered a mix of beer, wine, and cider, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. 2 of the people in our party had been to St. Ambrose before and recommended the fish tacos for dinner, but I ended up with the fish and chips. Fantastic place. My husband and I have been coming to this part of Michigan for past decade and just stumbled upon this place a few years. Since then, every year we come to Michigan (from northeast Ohio where we live) we have to stop here. The service is phenomenal. The mead is beyond measure. Like seriously amazing. I'm mostly an IPA beer kinda girl and some sweet wines but this mead is so damn good we usually trek growlers worth of it back on our 7 hour drive. The place itself is so cute- lots of outdoor seating and activities and even beehives to see! The food is great. It's overall a great and chill place with fantastic mead. Great for families or dates or whatever. Highly recommend (pretty sure this is my first ever yelp review.. that's how good this place is. Seriously!). The staff is so nice one literally brought us ice packs when we inquired about how cold the mead needed to stay traveling back to Ohio given we had only two small coolers. read more

St. Ambrose was such a fun place, good for all ages. Our family was in the area for a family vacation, our ages ranged from 3 months to 64 and everyone had a great time! We sat outside on a beautiful afternoon. The drink menu has lots of options, something for everyone... from mead to cider, beer, and wine. You can even mix and match flights. Plenty of lawn games to play, and interesting drinks to try. Especially the mead, made from honey! (St. Ambrose is the patron saint of bees). Very friendly staff. We hope to return! read more

It's a holiday weekend so we expected a wait. The sign said food wait was 30 minutes but after over an hour I went to the pick-up window to get the status of our order. Clearly they lost our order but did not apologize. We finally ate and finished our drinks. Once she brought the bill, she just said the total and asked for a credit card. Stopped in on New Years Eve afternoon with 6 friends. We shopped in the Bee Hive House for honey and candles then continued on inside for wine tasting. Super pricing on 4 generous pours of either mead or wine. The staff was friendly and all took their time with us. There is both undercover outdoor seating, indoor seating on two levels and igloos to rent. We will return to eat again as the food and menu looked so good! read more
