Royal Farms has turned into one of my regular stops. The lot's big, there are plenty of pumps, and the gas prices are usually some of the best around, so filling up is quick and painless. The rewards program is a nice bonus too -- it adds up if you're stopping in often. The food's just as solid as the fuel. The chicken is always fried fresh and comes out hot and crispy, and the coffee is a real highlight -- ground right in front of you with 12 everyday choices plus seasonal roasts. I like that the breakfast wrap is available all day too; it hits the spot whenever you want it. What I really like is that you don't have to just grab and go. You can actually sit down -- either inside at the counter or outside at the picnic tables. On a nice morning, it's great to grab a coffee, sit in the sun, and take a few minutes before getting back on the road. The place is kept clean, bathrooms are taken care of, and the staff are always friendly. They also run rotating chicken specials that are worth checking out, so there's usually something extra to look forward to. Clarksboro, NJ- OTR truck driver and wife, Lady behind to food counter told us we had to order at the kiosk, yet the whole time the employees just stood around and talked. why bother having 3 people work The kitchen, stand there talk and flirt with one another and get our order wrong. Then after we ordered, $27 for a wrap, 3-piece chicken, potato wedges & cheese (which they forgot ), mashed taters & gravy (lumpy and nasty looking). fountain drink was $2.55. We got our food, no tray or bag, have to carry all your hot food by hand either to a table or with you. I figured out that we were charged $3.99 for cole slaw that was marked on the label $2.79 (same as in the deli case). Why in the world should you be charged $1.80 more for someone to hand you a container that is clearly marked a different price?? This is beyond a rip off if you ask me! Mens bathroom was nasty and the womens wasn't much better, a slimy bottle of soap in an old spray bottle because the soap dispensers were empt, ewww. NEW Bedford Virginia store. Never been to one before. The food was very good and the gas prices were lower than average. Our problem was that once we got our food there was no place to sit and eat it. They had a row of stools at a bar but apparently the employees had taken over that area for their break lounge. One woman had turned the first 2 stools into her office. She had a laptop and blocked the next stool with her knapsack. The other end were two more laptops which employees were coming and going to Another spot had a gigantic napkin dispenser that left no space for eating. I am a fried chicken connoisseur. And I had never heard of Royal Farms until someone mentioned it. Gas station fried chicken??? I happened to be in the area so I stopped in. This is what I got for $15 - a breast, a wing and a leg, plus a small side each of mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and a small bottle of diet Pepsi. Pricy compared to other fried chicken franchises, for sure. Everything was actually really good except for the mashed potatoes, which I hated - they were whipped, and the gravy had an odd, peppery taste to it that I didn't really like. The chicken was absolutely glorious - maybe I came in at the right time, but I had no wait and the chicken was hot, fresh and so so good. Juicy without being greasy. And the breading was amazing. Really enjoyed it and will be back, though next time I'll skip the potatoes and stick with the other stuff. read more

Myself and two friends decided to try out Royal Farms food. First of all a very nice man came from behind the counter to help completly ignoring me. I stopped at the Royal Farms in Magnolia N J recently. I usally go to Wawa but since it was closer I decided to give it a chance. Big mistake. First I purchased gas which took 3 times longer then Wawa, there was only one employee working at the pumps. I went inside to get a snack I asked the employee if they had any fruit and I was told no they didn't. I went into the restroom which was dirty the trash can was over flowing only one stall out of four had toilet tissue. Needless to say next time I will go out of my way to go to Wawa. read more

I have never been to Royal Farms in all my years of existence. I mean, it's just a gas station, right? That happens to sell chicken? How good could it be? Well, believe the hype. This should be a fast food chicken restaurant that happens to sell gas. The first thing I noticed with my tenders meal is it's all white meat. I've always had bad experiences with fast food places making fried white meat chicken. It always ends up being too dry. Not so here. Two of the three pieces were very nice and tender. The last was borderline, but just as good as other places. The fries (called Western fries) were made of real honest to goodness potatoes! They were so good! They reminded me of Jewish deli fries I used to love back in my old neighborhood in Brooklyn, the kind where they take a potato and slice it up long ways into 6-8 pieces. No other fast food restaurant fries come close. The seasonings on the chicken and fries (I got mild) had just a hint of spiciness in it to make it interesting. I do suggest eating this hot before you get home because the outer coating of this wonderful food will probably get a bit soggy and crumble off when you finally arrive home. Royal Farms on Whitehorse Pike in Magnolia New Jersey. I went there to get a three piece chicken and the chicken looked fresh. I ordered a chicken breast and two drumsticks, potato wedges, and one roll. First of all their chicken is very expensive after paying for three pieces of chicken at $14.00 I get home and see that I was given chicken that's been sitting out. I should've stood there and chose the pieces that I wanted. I suggest you give me the chicken that you would want given to you. Very disappointed. Have to say that I'm deeply disappointed, because Royal Farms is supposed to be the chain that is giving Wawa a run for their money. This place is disgusting before you even walk through the door and the people look like they just really don't care I asked the girl about the chicken and how long it stays up under the lights, but she really didn't answer me and her manager look like she was not even listening to me when she didn't answer me, I thought maybe she didn't hear me but then a customer at one of the self check out areas spoke up and she ignored him to the place smells like dirty oil that hasn't been changed in their fryers. The doors and windows and even the handles to come in and to leave we're filthy I'm not quite sure how this place has not got shut down by the health department every location seems to only have 2 to 3 stars and that's pushing it. Slow. 35 plus minute wait for 12 piece with gravy. What a mess. Order is via kiosk and similar to Wawa- order, pay, wait. Kiosk orders easily overwhelmed the staff on the day I went and everyone was a bit annoyed as the store layout wasn't good for 20 plus people waiting. So, for the review. Chicken wasn't bad. Breast are decent sized but wings and legs are smallish. It wouldn't be an issue but the price is high if you want to add a few extra pieces. Get the 8pc for $10 deal. 3 breasts alone are over $10. Flavor is salty with a sharp pepper flavor. Not bad but very notable. It's oily but not overly greasy. Wings were a bit dry but breasts were juicy. Mashed potatoes need the gravy. Rolls are unremarkable. I mean they were like they were pulled out of a bag cold. It sure why I'd buy them again. For the price, I'm not feeling this. Thus, 2 stars. Having heard all the hype about Royal Farms, I finally stopped in today about 2:30 pm. The store was empty except for one man waiting for his lunch order at the chicken/deli area. I went to the machine, put in an order for 10 pieces of chicken and then went to pay. There were 4 checkers standing around talking and one helped me promptly and rang my order up. So far, so good. Then the wait began. The chicken/deli crew were milling about, doing nothing and moving on SLOW. I finally got my chicken about 20-25 minutes later. Ridiculous. The guy waiting before me was not impressed either. The service attitude was blasé to downright sullen. The chicken was ok, fresh, hot but not enough for me to make a special trip to Royal Farms - especially based on the service. I will stick to WaWa where the service is fast, friendly, and great. I wrote a 5 star review when they first opened. The chicken was cooked good and not overdone. Fast forward to just a few days ago, the chicken was too tough and OVERCOOKED. So, tonight was my 1st.time trying Royal Farms, I ordered 12 pieces of fried chicken, family size fries, small mashed potatoes and small mac and cheese. Ordered if from Doordash, (Mt Laurel, NJ location) which added an extra 15.00 dollars. The fried chicken was one of the worst tasting I've had, loaded with just salt. It tasted as if it only had tons of salt on it, no seasonings just too much salt. The fries smelled disgusting of old grease, we didn't even bother to try. I just want to start out by saying, so far, I take Royal Farms over Wawa. I think the food is better. Store cleaner. Laid out better. BUT....and this is a huge but. The service blows. Waiting 20mins on a Sunday morning for 3 breakfast sandwiches when only 3 people in front of you is terrible. The food prep area, the way it is laid out, is awful. One side for sandwiches. One side for chicken. If you get one of each, one may get done while the other takes twice as long. Don't even think about order food before work. You'll be late every day. Now I won't stop coming here, but be prepared to wait every single time you order food. I see no reason it should take as long as it does. This place would be good, if they were prepared for customers. It's a touch-screen order your food gas bar similar to Wawa, Sheetz, Quick Check and Rutter's but the similarities end there. To keep it simple, we did not eat there. We placed a very simple order and after 40 minutes of waiting we asked for a refund. The checker was rude about it when I told her we ran out of time but I told her a reasonable expectation as a gas bar food service place it 5, perhaps 10 minutes during a rush hour. She seemed a bit flustered in how to issue a refund. Everyone there seem they were on the job for the first day. If I had a car at the gas bar, the pumper would have been furious. Ok, so they have a deep fryer unlike Wawa but there are at least 6 other fried chicken places within a 5 minutes drive. It's also a lot pricier compared with Church's or Popeyes. A mile to the west. This place is awful, I honestly didn't want to believe it was this bad and gave it 4 trys before writing this review. The chicken is some of the driest I've ever had and had a strange after taste. Sides range from meh to gross and the service flat out sucks. The employees are incredibly slow moving and are boarder line rude. Last but not least, if you spend more than 60 seconds in that building you will smell like old/burnt frying oil for the rest of the day. This place is a fail and can't hold a candle to Wawa. Now that the opening hype has gone away this place is dead for the most part.
