We needed to charge the car, so we stopped at this location last night around 9:30 pm. There were plenty of chargers and they were all unoccupied. I saw the sign outside that said, "World Famous Chicken 12 pc for $20." I've heard about their chicken and since we haven't had dinner we wanted to try this famous chicken. I started eating when we got home around 10 pm. The skin is crispy and well coated but not much taste. The pieces were small. I had two wings and a drumstick. For being dark meat, they were pretty dry. I was definitely disappointed as I had high hopes for "World Famous Chicken." I think it's great that places like Royal Farms have EV chargers. As regular to the farm store in Urbana its not unusual to find a line at the grill waiting for take out chicken, milk, snacks, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, etc,. The Farm Store as its known to locals is known for fried chicken that will satisfy your entire families cravings for crunchy, mildly spicy, baskets of yummyness, but there's so much more.. In addition the lunch, dinner, and just about anything in a hurry including restroom breaks, this is a regular stop for area commuters. The coffee, is a bargain compared to the high end chains, and just as flavorfull in my opinion. I would rate higher, but they steal from customers. I bought 2 (8 ounce) nacho cheese sauces for 16 total ounces. I put one of them on the food scale and with the container weighed less than 3 ounces so Royal Farms gave me less than 6 ounces and shorted me 10 ounces. This has happened the last 4 trips. You know they have to know too. A cup is 8 ounces and they gave a 1/4 cup. Silly. read more

Great place to fill up as you cruise down the interstate. It wasn't far off my path and they had a nice grassy area where I could walk my dog. The bathrooms were clean(ish)- giving some forgiveness since I was traveling during a holiday weekend. They have the low flow toilets installed and even with the most simple waste, it doesn't totally flush when you use the low-water option. Kind of gross and then you end up flushing twice which I assume kills the point of having that kind of a toilet. Oh well, they tried. They had a large selection of snacks and drinks and I didn't have to wait long to check out. The gas prices were competitive with everything else in the area. It's been snowing, that leaves that nasty brine crap that gets kicked up by other vehicles on your windshield. So in the midst of this snow that has happened for the third time now in two weeks, you'd think they'd have the troughs with windshield washer fluid and the handy dandy squeegee ready to go as everyone would be using them when they fill up right? Nope! There is a sea of handles around the gas station. The squeegee ends lost to time. Motorists are desperately trying to clean their windshields clean with spit and napkins, whilst failing miserably. It's hell out there! Snow is hell! And not a squeegee to be seen... At least the gas is a bit cheaper than the Shell station across the street. But why won't they think of the dirty windshields? Won't someone think of the dirty windshields! read more

I like this gas station/chicken shop because it's always pretty clean. The pumps are reliable and the price is usually a couple cents or more cheaper than the station across the street. I really like RoFo chicken and this location is no exception. I haven't run into issues with rude staff that others have cited in reviews. The carwash is OK. It's just a brushless pressure wash setup. It does as good a job as any other brushless drive-through. At the very least, it's good for getting rid of road salt after a snowstorm. I prefer this one to the brushy wash across the street (the brushes miss spots - especially on the back end of my hatchback, right in the middle - and it's really rough on the car). I usually Love Royal Farms and I really looked forward to this one being built because its on my way to work. The World Famous Chicken has no flavor. Did they forget to add the seasoning? When I get the Chicken Tenders they are so dry that I almost choke! I visit the Royal Farms location in Frederick, Urbana, and Columbia MD several times a month. I have found that the Urbana Location is by far the best run with the best staff of any of the three. Several times I have encountered an employee who works in the food section named SB, Always a smile, a hey how you doing, and provides top notch service every time. SB's level of customer service is what keeps me coming back, I have encountered many other staff members and they are great at their jobs, it is just - SB always leaves a Great Lasting Impression. This is a good location right off the interstate. Gas was inexpensive for being right off a major thoroughfare which was nice. They have a little store for any munchie needs as well as a bathroom. There are few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and planned that it is nothing short of genius. Last night, I had one of those meals- the three piece chicken tender meal from Royal Farms. The dish was excellently prepared. Deep fried, juicy, and fresh without a hint of fishiness. A glaze of sweet and spicy sauce brought a hint of tart sweetness with a bite at the end. The tenders were placed on a mound of southwest potato wedges. The combination of the chicken tenders and potato wedges alone was to die for. (I would recommend the Chesapeake aioli to dip the southwest potato wedges in.) The ambiance was refreshing. The young adults working here added a certain joyous touch which was very nice. The employees just made me feel right at home. I love this place and I know that I will be recommending it to all of my friends. 10/10, can't wait to come back. read more

I love Royal Farms - usually. I ordered a chicken slider duo based on the menu image of nice chunks of white meat chicken. What I was given was chicken minced to a pulp and a strange color, Swiss cheese with no taste, on a slightly stale bun. My friend ordered a sausage egg & cheese biscuit. He said the biscuit was dry and tasteless, the sausage was stringy, and egg tough from too long in the microwave. However, he said the coffee was excellent. We both threw our meals in the trash after two bites. (You have to take two bites to make sure the first bite was as bad as you thought it was) Why bother offering food that is not as pictured, and at least the same quality as your competitors (McDonalds) or hopefully better! The women's room looked like it has not been cleaned in weeks. The floor, and toilet was filthy with no toilet paper and no soap. I don't think that the chicken is world famous. I prefer other gas station chicken better, or even Popeye's more. They do have other junk food that will add weight for the weary traveling souls. They always take forever, or they're out of stuff, or their workers making food are just total douchebags. Is being rude company policy? The customer service sucks. The staff doesn't look you in the eye, is not attentive, and doesn't respond when you ask how they are. They all seem to be entitled and have that look of "I'm so much better than this job" on all of their faces. Rather than work hard to eventually attain better positions or jobs, everyone acts like they just deserve a better job. I used to come here on at least a twice a week basis, but avoid the place at all costs now, and tell everyone I know to do the same. The food is of decent quality since it's a chain, but employee-wise corporate needs to get in there and start cleaning house and replacing the staff with people who act like they care, or have training to teach their current employees how to act. I'm use to the one in littlestown,PA... every time I go here(Urbana location) teenagers are running the show.. they are more worried about showing out, break and smoking a cigarettes... the last time I got the potato wedges and they tasted like grease... the employee was clearly pissed about another employee being on break and stopped from serving her customers to walk outside and yell for the person to come in... this time they forgot something on my order.. This place is awesome and the guy named Dustin tried to murder me while i was buying chicken. They have guns and weed in the store. This man named Andrew is so bad he stares at people and he gives blank stares and looks like he is going to kill me. A man with a red beard was smoking weed in the store. A large man works over night who always has a chain hanging from the phone, and I saw him rubbing chicken on himself and put it in his pants. After waiting for over 15 min for 2 employees to wait on one customer to get their food, I was informed that it is company policy to card every customer purchasing tobacco product, even those of us that are well past the federal mandate of 40 years old. I view this as an invasion of my personal information. when I asked for the phone number to the corporate office the clerk said she did not have that information. State and Federal Law states that this information must be readily available to the consumer abound request. I pass three other stores that sell tobacco products even having to make a U-turn to do it, I'm only saving $0.25 a pack in the transaction. non of the others stores card me. its just not worth it to me.
