Kurt's level of care and commitment is simply unparalleled, and his work shows the highest levels of experience and skill. He is very passionate about his work and a true artist in his field. Moreover, he is an extremely nice guy, and his rates are very competitive. Duval Tile & Stone recently tiled the entryway to our townhome in Wailea as well as a very large lanai in the back of our unit. When our unit was built in 2007, the cement pads laid by the builder were not level or "square", and over the years hairline cracks had developed in the cement. To ensure that the new porcelain tile that Kurt was installing for us would be level and resistent to developing cracks in the future, he had to do a significant amount of remedial work to level the cement pads and seal all existing cracks before laying any new tile. The best part about hiring Duval Tile & Stone is that the owner, Kurt Duval, actually does all of the tile work himself. Typically, you will only see the owner of a tile company two times: 1) when you get the initial bid, and 2) when you give him the final payment. That is definitely not the case with Kurt Duval. He is on the worksite EVERY DAY, doing all of the work himself. Why? Because he wants the job done right! Kurt's work ethic is truly amazing in this day and age! So, how did it all turn out? Well, Kurt did a wonderful job in installing all of the tiles. And, by the way, everyday he left the worksite neat and clean. Professionalism, integrity, and craftsmanship -- this is what Kurt Duval brings to the job. Needless to say, my wife and I are delighted with our new entryway and lanai, and we will definitely use Duval Tile & Stone for any future projects. We highly recommend Duval Tile & Stone!

He expects clients to spend money on upgrading equipment but it isn't installed properly, or even required. Our pool house has been awash with obvious pipe leaks even though I texted and pointed it out in person to the maintenance guys it was left unrepaired. The pool cleaner wasn't working, yet it was repaired in minutes by another pool company. There was an obvious pool leak and he refused to turn off the auto fill which caused a $2K water bill!! The problems just continued and Josh ignored them. When we called him on it he charged us $1500 in unwanted chemicals!! As a property manager I found him hard to deal with, as did the owner of the pool. Now that we have replaced him 2 pool companies have come out to inspect the pool setup and neither can figure out what Josh was doing, why he added extra pumps when they weren't needed, and why everything is leaking! A pipe came off in one guy's hand where it had been leaking all over the pool house floor for weeks. Obviously I would not recommend Ohana Pool & Spa.

Our last pool cleaner stopped setvicing our pool, and all of his other customer's pools, while we…read morewere off island. We heard his excuses and waited for him to return until our pool started looking like a swamp. His other customers jumped ship before we tried to find a replacement. Other pool companies were already booked up but Aquapulco said they would clean up the pool and start weekly visits. Aquapulco estimated that the initial cleaning would cost $550. Wow, but okay. I'm in a bind. They did a good job but the final total was $750. Ouch! Weekly maintenance was pricey, $85 per week plus chemicals. But, the pool cleaner showed up every week. The pool cleaner sent an email each week with a picture of the clean pool. For the first 4 weeks, he included a picture of the timer for the pool pump. There was no explanation why he thought I would be interested in the timer. Finally, the electric bill arrived and it solved the mystery. The cleanup crew had the pump running 24/7 for the couple of days while they worked but left it running continuously after they finished. That mistake cost me an extra $200, going to the electric company. When I called Aquapulco about it, they sent a repair technician to correct the timer. Nothing for the inconvenience or expense. Aquapulco sent me 2 reports that my auto pool sweep wasn't working properly. It was stuck at the stairs and wouldn't "back up". They wanted to replace the gearbox ($53.50, 10% over retail) plus an $85 service call for a 15 minute repair. I declined, since I was returning in a few days. I was warned that I would be charged an extra $25 per week, since my pool sweep wasn't picking up everything on the bottom of the pool. I arrived and I put a $48.95 gearbox in the pool sweep, but it didn't make any difference. I then found that my pool-to-pump valve was set to take most of the water from the skimmer, providing insufficient suction for the pool sweep to function properly. FYI, there is a flow meter available to show the amount of suction recommended for the pool sweep. I also found the skimmer flapper door was stuck closed, preventing floating debris from entering the skimmer. I fixed this problem and probably saved another $85 service call. On his last visit, I told our pool cleaner that I had just emptied the pump basket when I cleaned out the impeller. He said he would do it anyway, because he was required to do it. After he left, I noticed that water in the pool wasn't flowing well and saw that pump pressure was well over 20 psi. The filter hadn't been backflushed. After I did the backflush, we found another company to take over the maintenance of our pool. Honey Girl wanted to know why we were changing pool companies. I told her that if Mike Davis (the owner) wanted to know the problems we've had with Aquapulco, he was welcome to call me. He didn't return my call. I gave Aquapulco 3 stars because they do a pretty good job. But, evidently they don't consider themselves responsible if their mistakes cost you money. They don't really want your feedback, either.
