    Nice view

Stayed here just prior to the 4th of July. I stayed two nights in the Presidential Suite. It was far from Presidential, lol! The place is very old and my room didn't appear as clean as I would have liked it. For example a big strand of hair in the sink. The carpet is so old I can't tell how dirty it might be. So if you are picky about cleanliness this place might not be the spot for you. However, the place is close and convenient to the Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown. Everything is within waking distance. The nice part about this hotel is that parking is free. I would say it's fairly secure. For the cost of the room, it's probably a good deal, especially if you are on a tight budget. Employees are very nice. The room does have a coffe maker and coffee and an ice machine is available. My room did have a kitchen!

4.5 Stars...San Francisco is dotted with these older and little independent motels and inns throughout the city all of which are dated, could use TLC, and some seem a bit creepy! I was a bit hesitant, but the recent Yelp reviews were favorable and I decided to go for it...and it was only $120/night! Thanks Yelpers! PROS: -FREE PARKING -EXCELLENT LOCATION! Right between Little Italy and Chinatown, and you could easily walk to Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. Coit Tower is nearby, but it's steep! You got bars, shops and eateries all around. -FREE PARKING -CHEAP(at least on a random Sunday) -Fridge, big LCD TV, Coffee Maker, surprisingly comfortable and supportive bed(seemed very new!) -Clean Room -FREE PARKING...did I mention that yet? -Friendly desk staff. CONS: -Small and dated rooms and bathrooms. -Larger tourists may find the standing only shower a challenge. Again, this is an older hotel, built when Americans were smaller in general. -Definitely a "No" if you're planning on a "romantic" weekend...but if you're younger this probably won't stop either of you. Again, I can't stress enough that the location is really good! So many things in walking distance...perfect if you're doing some night time drinking!

Location, location, location! This place is right in Chinatown, on the border of North Beach/Little Italy. About 20 minutes walking to Fisherman's wharf. It was so convenient to be able to walk everywhere. Across the street was some burger joint that Anthony Bourdain supposedly recommended. Had dim sum for brunch almost everyday at the many nearby Chinese cafes. Came with parking included which was worth around $50/day. While dated, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was professional and nice. It could get noisy at night, especially on weekends, but you're in the City.

The first time I had ever visited San Francisco, I stayed at this hotel and I looked beyond it's 1950ish vibe and just thought about the convenience to everything. - Was it close to the Financial district? - yes. - Is it close to Chinatown, it's practically in it. - Close to Little Italy, of course. - close to Coit tower? Yes. - close to Embarcadero, such an easy walk. - how about Union Square - just a 10 minute walk. Ok, you get the idea. And not to mention the free parking, and pretty decent views of the Bay Bridge. It's relatively inexpensive, however, acceptably clean. Subsequent to my very first visit to the city by the Bay, I had a series of unrelenting business trips which landed me at the Palace and Marriott and of course, it would be unfair to compare the Royal Pacific to those hotels. But once again, for the location and the price point, you can't beat the Royal Pacific hotel. They also allow you a free Svenhard's pastry every morning. I just love that treat, like your mama putting a sweet treat in your lunch box, to start your day off right. FYI, be mindful that the upper level parking lot may get full but you can park down below, a section which is open to the public. Please note, it's a bit tight, so leave your truck/SUV at home. The hotel staff has been friendly and accommodating. They'll allow a room switch if needed and if it's possible. Love this hotel, hope they never sell out.

The staff is awesome the rooms are comfortable. It's our home in the city. Always a joy to check in.

I should have taken a better pic but you can see the parking in the background interior to the property.

This is an older motel style place, not a resort hotel. That said it is CLEAN and well maintained. The desk people are professional. The FREE parking is inside the property and VERY SAFE. AND there is an elevator. The LOCATION is great. Right on the edge where Chinatown and Little Italy meet -making a TON of cafes within just a couple blocks. Good Asian, Italian and others including a Georgian place (which we did not get to try.) Lots of people on the street and lots of places open --feeling very safe up until we turned in at 10:30 pm. Will definitely stay again.

Let me state at the outset that I am an ambulatory disabled person. I do not need an ADA-compliant room though certain features of ADA-compliant rooms help me. Also, please note, I booked through Airbnb. The listing did not (a) warn of the problems that I would encounter; or (b) offer me the opportunity to book an ADA room or self-identify as an ambulatory disabled person. Also, please note, the ADA and California building code both require that public accommodations provide accessible entrances. That said, here is as objective a description of my experience as I can provide. I arrived after a 2-hour drive. Upon arrival, I parked in one of two designated handicapped spaces and got out to go into the building to register. However, I could not enter the building (see photo, taken later from my car window). The sidewalk in front of my vehicle was cordoned off with construction tape. A make-shift set of wooden stairs led to an opening marked with a temporary sign, "Employees Only". Construction debris, tape, and make-shift scaffolding blocked the entire front of the building. I could not determine how I would enter if I could. Just then, a gentleman was getting into his car and saw me. He asked if I needed help. (I had a walking stick in one hand and had been walking back and forth trying to see where I could enter.) I believe he was a patron of the motel. I asked him if he knew where the entrance was. He said, Hang on a minute, and disappeared among the rubble of the construction materials. A few minutes later, he came out and said he had gotten help. He then left in his vehicle. I stood there for maybe two more minutes when a gentleman who much later told me his name was "Richard" came out through the morass of construction material. He asked, and I quote, "What do you want?" I said that I had a reservation. He asked my name, and I told him. He disappeared back through the rubble and came out with a piece of paper. He asked for my identification which I gave him. He then went back into the building, and then returned with what appeared to be the paper and a pen. He said I should sign the paper. I read it; it was a registration sheet. I asked where my room would be and whether I could get to it in light of the construction. He said, "Yes, it is up those stairs," and gestured to two flights of stairs on the opposite side of the parking lot. I said, "I don't think I can go up those stairs, is there not an elevator?" He said, "The elevator is closed. I will get someone to help you." At that point, I was tired and hungry, and sufficiently unfamiliar with the City that I had no idea whether I could get a decent hotel room at the last minute. I signed the paper. "Richard" went back through the construction. He returned with a young woman. He stated that the young woman would carry my bag up the stairs. I said, "No, I'm sorry, I cannot go up those stairs. Can I not have a room on this level." He stated no, that my room was on level 3 and that he had given me a 'nice quiet room at the back'. I said again that I could not go up the stairs. The woman and the man spoke to each other. I could not hear them. Another woman came over. I had gotten my overnight bag out of my car. The first woman took it in hand. The two women talked between themselves. I do not know what they said. At this point, another man came over and spoke to the first woman who then said to "Richard" that the man had said that I could use the elevator. So we all headed over past a pile of construction debris into a recessed area which it turned out was adjacent to the office. Through the office window, I observed a man who later was identified by "Richard" as "Zachary". We went to the elevator which was taped off with construction tape and had signage that said on it that it was closed from 10/25 through 11/01. This all took place on 10/26. I said that if the elevator was closed, how could I use it. "Richard" said that I could use it. The woman held up the construction tape and told me to go under it. I did not wish to ride in a closed elevator. I said so. Then, "Zachary" came out. He said I should have told them that I was disabled before I booked a room. He said why did I park on the ground floor, why didn't I park underground. He said that it was not their fault that I had not told them I was disabled. "Zachary" used harsh, accusatory tones about my not having self-identified as disabled. "Richard", the women, and the parking attendant tried to help. Later, I had trouble with the heat and called the desk. "Zachary" again spoke in rude tones. He did come to the room but I did not trust him. The room itself was old though clean and adequate but attitude of staff means a lot and accessibility is paramount. They should have advised potential customers of the construction and/or made better temporary arrangements. They should not have blamed me for the situation.

This hotel had the basic amenities one would need for a one-night stay in the city. No unpleasant odors or homeless people on the premises, clean room (no bugs, etc.), a heater (I don't think AC, but this was fine during the winter), comfy bed and clean bedding, two lamps (we couldn't find a switch for a main light), medium sized TV, and plenty of towels. No fridge, AC, or extras. The bathroom sink was separate from the toilet and shower. Everything we used was in working order. And a big plus, they have free parking... though it's a complicated process, you have to leave your key with a "valet" employee, and pick it up at the front desk at checkout. Our stay was fine and worked out great, since the hotel was near a venue we were attending this past weekend and had the best value

Wharf with a sea lion party.

STILL MY FAVORITE PLACE TO STAY WHEN I'M IN SAN FRANCISCO !!! The best location if you like to eat. Chinese, Italian, pizza, fried chicken ... all within walking distance. EVEN PIER 39 !!! And the Ferry Building !!! It's not fancy but the staff is friendly and efficient ... very comfortable and clean and the prices for the rooms are extremely fair especially for San Francisco.

Pretty good place to stay in the Chinatown area. Close to a lot of attractions, decent pricing, free parking, and they allow you to drop off your luggage early/leave it after you check out for the day. Only qualm is that it's really close to the road, and even late at night there's a lot of noise. Still worth it though.

Looking towards the street, on the lower level of the inn.

Perfect location for an easy walk to Chinatown and what a great view you'll get of the city (if you're lucky enough to get the front facing rooms). Took a small 3-day vacation to San Francisco, friends and I just needed a weekend away from work in the Silicon Valley and what better than to vacation in the city. Booking was fairly simple, we booked via Hotels two months in advance and as we checked in, our Hotels discounts and accommodations were just as expected. A little more about check-in, it is located on the first floor, right in front of the handi-capped parking. Very warm and cozy feel, almost like an urban cottage, with a hint of the Chinatown flare, with decor and advertisements. Check-in was quick, parking was free and the inn had very quick working elevators, that rose from the underground parking garage and to the very top floor. Room was clean and simple. Since we didn't plan on staying in the inn for the main duration of our vacation (only for resting/sleeping), we didn't expect more than clean sheets, appropriate amount of toiletries and a working hot shower. Walls seemed to be thin, as I could hear when our room neighbors went in and out of their rooms as well as closed their bathroom doors, but in some cases, doors could have just been slammed very roughly. The inn also stands by their non-smoking rooms, daily housekeeping, free wi-fi and free parking, which was a huge plus for us. Also about parking, even if your stay at the inn is up, you can still keep your car down at the garage for a flat fee price, for the whole day, yes! It was very inexpensive, and honestly, I had to ask the attendant if this was really true! What more can you ask for when you're just looking for a place to crash after your whole day walking around the city? And yes, we were able to walk everywhere from this location: Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, SFMoMA, Financial District, Union Square, just to name a few. Great room, great location and great food as early as 6AM (the shops in Chinatown open very early, so you know you'll get the freshest batch). I would definitely make another booking for this inn again in the future.

Right next door - great BBQ pork buns, lotus bean paste buns, paedonso.

    See all

However, from the very beginning to end ranged from confusion, annoyance, to plain nightmare. The check in process was confusing and and cumbersome. The intercom at the front door did not even work, and I had to call their actual "front desk" who apparently said they did not have my information on file and made me go through these annoying steps just to find my hotel room key in a lock box. The most frustrating and nightmarish experience came the next day when I lost the hotel room key (a physical key). I called the "front desk" several times but received no answer then finally got one after about 10 minutes. When I told the man at the "front desk," he told that he would have to speak to the housekeeper. After waiting for another 10 minutes, he informed me that I would be getting fined $200 for the lost room key, which is plain ridiculous, since they didn't have a replacement key (other than the housekeeper's key). I understand a $25 or $50 fee for a lost key but $200 for a freaking key???! After waiting for about 40 minutes total, he finally walked over with my replacement key and begged me not to lose it since that would mean the housekeeper can't even get in (how laughable). What's worse was that the other guests were able to use their phone or a passcode to get in since all the room had e-locks. When I asked the man at the "front desk" why I needed a physical key, he said that not all of the e-locks were working--including the one for my room. What a load BS. A horribly dingy hotel that can't even get its most basic sh*t together. Stay at this incompetently run hotel at your own risk or better yet find much better options.

I'd also like to thank Chief Concierge Daniel Rey, whose communication before our arrival helped make the celebration feel special from the very beginning. The hotel is beautiful, but what really stood out was the hospitality. Every interaction, from the concierge team and butlers to the front desk staff, felt warm, genuine, and attentive. Thank you to everyone at The St. Regis San Francisco for helping make my birthday celebration so memorable. We truly appreciated all of the thoughtful touches and look forward to returning.

The service (minus the food/catering/restaurant) is great. The only thing that annoyed me during my…read morestay was how long the food/restaurant takes to be served here. It took almost 1.5 hours for room service to get to my room on a Friday night. Same for breakfast the next two days...20 minute wait to be seated, 15 minute wait to get order taken, and a 20 minute wait for food to be served. It gets boring quick having to wait so long. I was considering lowering my rating to 3 starts because of this. Other than that, the facilities are nice and the rooms are modern. The location is also convenient and walkable to most things on Market Street.

The hotel used to be quite a few other properties, so while they may have decorated it, it's not the luxurious experience we've had at other hotels. The views are to die for, we had a room that spanned windows from Golden Gate to Bay Bridge, it was amazing being on the 45th floor and seeing the night sky and morning sunrise. The property doesn't really have a real lobby, spa, and the restaurant is average, as in the quality of the food was just not top notch, and they have access to the best ingredients. They only have two elevators and are quite slow, at a busy time this can be quite annoying. The room itself was small, no real furniture, would have been nice to have a sofa and table with two chairs. There was no dresser. The bathroom was great for one, but small for two. The shower didn't have a bench, no his or her's sinks. The bed when we got into it was super soft and not supportive, when we called they did something really odd and put a board on the mattress and then a topper. I guess they have a guest that asks for this. Why didn't the service people know they have a firm version of the mattress topper they could have switched for us. We didn't have the best sleep. Again, usually the Four Seasons beds are amazing. While this property doesn't charge regular Four Seasons prices, it also doesn't deliver the experience and it would be a shame if the brand started doing this.

For those used to staying at JW Marriotts or similar level of luxury or higher, this property will…read morelikely feel underwhelming to you. Those that a hotel of this level is an infrequent splurge, or stay here with tempered expectations, may find it satisfying depending on the rate/perks you got. We paid a little over $300 a night including all fees/taxes but as AMEX Platinum members got extra credit and perks so our total credits/perks were worth about $300 total for the two nights including an $80/day breakfast credit. So it was about like staying for $150/night with no credits/perks. Given location/amenities, I think up to around $200/night would be a fair discount rate (as of Summer 2026) Location: is good for tourists and the area in general feels safe and clean as the city has cleaned this area up a bit from previous years. Parking: $94 a day for valet (no self park.) Yep, welcome to Downtown San Francisco. You could valet park in the small garage across the street for $32 but no in/out privileges. Lobby/Check-in: It's an atrium style hotel with lobby on the 3rd floor. Check-in was easy. Lobby is nice with a bar and lots of seating with a whole other seating area to the side and behind the bar. They have their climate control too cold though in the Lobby. Dining: There's only one restaurant at lobby level with just a view of the building next door. Prices are very high but short of outrageous considering you are in a JW in the middle of San Francisco. We thought it would be hard for 2 people to use the $80 credit for breakfast. Not so when average breakfast entrees are in the $33-$38 range. We also ate dinner in the restaurant. The food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. Not Michelin Star level of course, and overpriced, but actually pretty quite good for a hotel restaurant. Note there is a setup for a Buffet Breakfast (were told it is $52/person when open) but they didn't run it on Saturday or Sunday so there was a bit of a wait to get a seat in the restaurant for breakfast. Rooms: Rooms are decent size and well-furnished in good condition but although they don't feel outdated, they feel a little 'tired around the edges' so to speak. If you want that freshly renovated feel, you won't get it here. Bathroom size is going to vary as our large corner room with a sitting area with table had a very small bathroom and our neighbors had a smaller room but with a decent size bathroom. Street noise was minimal on the 12th floor but if you are sensitive to the noise, I wouldn't go any lower than floor 10. Views will vary but likely will be of the side of another building through what I call 'prison windows' which is a smaller than average window opening inset within a concrete looking surround. Bed was comfortable, mattress was good but felt slightly stiff/tired as though it was probably getting near then end of its lifespan but still quite comfortable. Linens very good. So overall good beds but nothing to write home about. I had read the reviews and although I typically stay in this level of a hotel I had tempered my expectations and so the stay was satisfying and served its purpose with no unpleasant surprises. If you want to be less prone to having an overcharged feeling: a) Use valet across the street or SpotHero app to find cheaper in/out parking nearby (if you have a car) and b) don't bother eating/drinking in the hotel -- go elsewhere to non-hotel restaurants to eat and drink.
