They had food trucks come in every week & there was always something going on in the clubhouse. The put in a kids play area which my grandkids loved. Over all I would definitely go back if the need arises.

To clarify this review when we moved in early 2021 for a long term stay it was really nice. It was…read morequiet and the neighbors were very friendly but not "in your business". There were some really good people there. You could fish in peace and no one bothered you. BUT in the summer/fall of last year Leisurely Lane opened another resort. Where they had 2 they now had 3. Then it started really going down hill. Where they screened their residents before that apparently went away. We had self proclaimed drug addicts, plain old thugs and child abusers (he was reported by many people and had the police involved but the office ignored it and were allowed to stay) ....and even a campground prostitute. I'm not joking! There was a woman that moved in that came on to all the men around the park whether married or not looking for "dates". We had at least 3 guys that moved in that tried to intimate the residents with threats and physical violence and would try to cause trouble it was worse when they got drunk. There was another woman moved in that had 2 men that would visit and if she got confused and had them over at the same time they'd get in fist fights literally in the street. Screaming and cussing each other. But, apparently that's perfectly ok with the office staff!!!! The ONLY thing you could get in trouble for was if you were rude to the office people. The they'd take notice. Otherwise it was a total free for all, do whatever you want in the park. If anyone complained they ignored you, it didn't involve them. As far as not keeping up the park. The grass would grow up to your knees before they'd finally cut it. They had campground workers but couldn't keep anyone. There were deep holes in the some of the yards and one lady got seriously injured when she fell after stepping in one. They never fixed any of it. The last I heard she had to get an attorney to get them to help with medical expenses. She moved out shortly after the incident and good for her!! She's way better off out of there. As are we!!! After that experience no more campgrounds for us!! The tall grass invited lots of snakes into to the park. We had problems with ants and rodents. Because they refused to spray. It cost money. So bottom line either the owner and staff refuse to spend money on upkeep or there isn't any money and they got to big to fast. There was an incident where somebody smeared feces all over the mens bathroom walls, people dumping their trash over the neighbors fence onto his horse farm which as you can imagine went over well. One lady down the street from the park said she's heard nothing but bad things about that place and the neighbors are all sorry it's there. They're bringing in a lot of "trashy people". The good ones never stay. There is one woman in the office who no one knew what she did. She stayed in her office playing games on her computer all day. But trust me you didn't want to talk to her. She was the most unhappy, rude, nasty person you'll ever meet. So it's best she gets paid to just sit in there. Maybe that's where the upkeep money goes?? Hhmmmm

Our first experience speaks volumes: We moved from out of state, and were in a short term rental that didn't allow dogs. Along the way, our GSD Knight developed a problem attitude around being kenneled, which resulted in him getting asked to leave a couple of boarding places, which was super distressing. Forest Shadows was recommended by a friend who warned me they had a couple low online reviews at the time, but she personally attested to how great they were with her 2 nippy dogs. Since I trusted her and we needed help, we reached out, discussed his behaviors, and enrolled him in the Board & Train 2 week program which worked perfectly with our timeline. It was a GOD-SEND. Long story short: Knight came back to us super happy and way better trained. The staff communicated specific adjustments to help his kennel issues, monitored situations when our dog didn't respond well, adjusted accordingly, and more importantly expressed they "weren't going to give up on him and were willing to keep trying." I literally cried when they told me that. What really exemplifies Forest Shadow's amazing staff is our experience moving out of the US during the global pandemic. After we sold our home, we boarded Knight, we flew to the UK, and relied on Forest Shadows to work with our Pet Relocation team so he could join us overseas. The relocation process got delayed a few times, and he ended up boarding with Forest Shadows for just over 2 months. During this trying time, they were patient, flexible, willing to assist, and sympathetic to our changing circumstances. I was so grateful we didn't have to stress about our dog! All the staff delivered great customer service: front desk Ms. Terri helped me understand the best combination of services, both Ms. Rachaels facilitated our visits, Mr. Terry was great at doggy day care, and Trainer Terry even did a refresh training. In particular, Ms. Laurie and Mr. Michael were our angels, as they worked with me and the pet travel company, kept me posted regarding food, medicine, and treat needs, and helped me problem solve issues like getting him transported for health checks, and even finding a USDA approved Vet. We are truly grateful that Forest Shadows never gave up on our vocal uber-energetic GSD, and they were absolutely instrumental in helping us move our furkid overseas so he could be home with us. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND them and can attest to their level of commitment.
