Driving from Houston was a breeze all the way to the freeway exit. After that was all rural routes in Waller County. I called in advance to ask for general information. The gentleman who answered the phone was very polite. He reminded me about 3 pm cutoff time for day pass entry. Upon arrival, I called him again to pay and check me in. I immediately went to the pool and changed to a suitable outfit. While I enjoyed the sun, I met a resident who travels across the country and happened to be at this campground for few weeks. He gave me a grand tour of the property. After I got home, I followed them on Facebook to receive frequent updates. Because I want to enjoy the camping experience one day, when it gets warmer. I'll be back in 2024.

The stairs going up and down were not lighted at night and the banister I found ended before the steps and I fell down hard. Even though we had paid for 2 nights we left at noon Saturday. I called during the week left a message with someone to have the manager or owner to call they never have. The guests were very nice but the management is very bad Think twice before going.

Went recently for a Sunday Brunch to celebrate a special family occasion. Loved the Wedge Salad bar with so many choices. Start with little gem or baby iceberg. Add blue cheese, cheddar or feta cheese. Add veggies. Tomatoes. Cucumbers. Shredded carrots. Black beans. Roated corn. Top it off. Walnuts. Pepitas. Hard boiled eggs. Chicken cubes. Dress it with buttermilk ranch or balsamic vinaigrette. So delicious. Grab a Momosa. I made my own mocktail using Perrier, mango puree, and a splash of cranberry juice. All of those virtual Yelp zoom events really have taught me how to mix the most delicious mocktails when the bartenders don't have alcohol free options. Get more veggies. Love the roasted rainbow carrots and Brussels sprouts. Amazingly, the Democratic Republic of Congo team was at the hotel for the last family gathering that I attended. So nice to talk to some of the members of the delegation about the team's historic Cinderella story. So happy that they felt welcomed during their stay in Houston. While the lobby looks nice and provides the vibe of a luxury hotel, the rooms certainly do not. The decor and amenities are straight outta the 80s - probably the last time the rooms were outfitted. With each time we have stayed here the accommodations have gotten worse and worse. The once nice pillows have been downgraded to flat prison-like pillows. There used to be all sorts of snacks complimentary in the lobby. On this last visit there was absolutely nothing. Nobody says hi or greets you at front desk nor going in and out of the main doors. We were only provided 3 towels as a family of 4. You would think housekeeping would at least take note of the 4 toothbrushes! They did not even really turn over the room except making the bed - no wiping down of sink etc and one day left us NO TOILET PAPER! I am getting really tired of these hotels charging more and providing less. Newsflash: if you keep people's rooms nice and tidy and provide them with toilet paper to do their business, that is the bare minimum! It is a shame because as Austin residents we go to Houston pretty often and would love to have a home base in Houston but sadly, we have given this hotel multiple opportunities to make it right and it has just gotten progressively worse.

Why 5 stars? Because I only have the most minor of gripes…read more --- --- --- I was staying here one night and then working at a conference the next day. I did not have anything other than a great experience here with the room, the parking, the event staff, etc. I ended up being upgraded to a corner room, which I really didn't necessarily need, but it's always nice to get the extra space. I had been really lacking on sleep over the previous couple of nights, so I did something here that I never do at home and got in bed around 8pm. A huge sticking point for me in hotels are the pillows and these were some of the best I've ever had. Pillows are such a personal preference situation, but I still don't know who in the world likes small pillows. These were definitely not that, which allowed me to mimic the body pillow I use at home. The only drawback for me about the room itself was that I had the thermostat on 68 but it definitely did not ever feel close to 68. I was warm a lot during the night. The shower was nice and hot with good pressure. The only weird thing is that I kept turning the knob and it wasn't really getting less hot, so I just had to kind of suck it up with water that was a tad hotter than I preferred. And a vent in the bathroom would have been ideal because it was tough to un-fog the mirror after I was done. But the event staff for the conference was great. I have definitely dealt with other hotel event staffs that do not follow through on what is requested, but that was not the case here. I asked one time for a certain setup, and certain setup was delivered perfectly. I was checked up on multiple times, but I was all set because they provided me what I needed the first time. I live in the area so I rarely need a hotel in Houston, but this was a rare exception and I'll happily recommend it to people visiting in the future.

I would come back to the regular rooms though. First off, I didn't know I have to put my room key over a reader to get to 21st floor. So, I walked from 15th floor using stars and I was mad. No one told me. Then, the iron scorched my pants while I ironed it before my biggest event at the grand ballroom. Not to mention it leaked water while I ironed my shirts. What else? The mirror in the bathroom was supposed to be fog free when turned on. But not so. I think it was because of rust to cause malfunction. I don't think the engineer crew can fix on the spot. The whole thing gotta replaced. Oh one more thing. The outlets by the nightstand didn't have power. Luckily I brought my extension cord to save the day. I reported these deficiencies to the front desk. I hope they will be addressed. I won't know if they will fix or not. I just don't want to be on the high floor anymore.
