I first moved in back in 2011, and now I'm moving back in 2023 - love the updates, new ownership has been great. The application process is overly complicated, but it's worth it. Really happy so far, the price is fantastic and the space is well-taken care of. read more

Red flags abound. I met with Michael to tour a unit. Either he wasn't aware of the actual lease terms or was intentionally misleading. I would have moved forward with the unit had the terms been clear from the jump. I was told a month to month lease for the unit I toured was an option. Further, should I choose to sign up for a 12 month lease, first month would have been free and for a 6 month lease, half-off first month's rent. When I reached out to their office stating I wanted a month to month lease, Michael informed me that only a 12 month lease was permitted. He denied telling me about the discounts and month-to-month options. I could care less about what the actual lease terms are, I just wanted transparency before signing up. I asked for a copy of the lease. Upon reviewing it, there was one alarming red flag: the landlord may enter the unit without consent and without prior notice to the tenant. Obviously this is some gray area here because after all, they're lockouts, not apartments, but still, no consent and no notice? Seriously? When expensive gear is going to be stored here you don't have the peace of mind that no one else is going to be in your unit without you knowing about it? Ridiculous. I emailed their office back pointing out this bizarre stipulation, but was ghosted. So take that for what it's worth. I'm glad I dodged a bullet with this place. Avoid. read more

My friends La Infinita practice here it's mellow a decent sized room and all in all a good practice place.

My band is the first tenant in Royal's new building over by USC. The experience working with Max so far has been excellent. I'll update the review once construction is finished and we settle in completely but so far, Max has been very responsive to our requests and has even incorporated our feedback into the way he's set up a few of the rooms. Total class act. The neighborhood isn't dangerous if you've got common sense street smarts, but you probably wouldn't want wander around by yourself late at night. This is just an FYI--the quality of the space eclipses this drawback for us. read more

For the price, you won't find much else better out there! Night parking a'plenty, and a small management team who is responsive and personable. It's early stages for this building, at least as a practice space... so things are being updated regularly. My band has rented out rooms at Bedrock and Downtown Rehearsal... I can say that Royal is cheaper, the amenities are simple, and there isn't too much "scene" (i.e. people who hang out and schmooze more than play music). Our room has all-wood walls and a lot of space. No neighborhood limits to late-nights or loud rehearsals. From the bands and producers I've run into, there are good/trustworthy people in the building. Recommended! read more

Kept really clean and tidy. The services and the facility is fantastic!

My band is thrilled with this place. 24/7 room shared with a couple other groups, so you have to work around others' schedules sometimes, but seems to rarely get in the way. Not to mention, for the price? Can't beat it. My band is using the space to jam, rehearse, and record. We were previously renting out space around town by the hour, but you really can only get so far with being on the clock every time you go to work.. Looking forward to using Royal for the foreseeable future. read more

I emailed about a specific room and made an appointment to go see it. When I got there was told the room was no longer available, all they had was a tiny little one. So basically wasted a part of my day for nothing. This is not a very professional way to run a business. read more

I've been renting a studio space with my band mates at the second Royal Rehearsal space (on Grand) for about 6 months now and I can say it's been a great pleasure being there! Open 24/7 Its located in a fairly quite part of LA just minutes of USC and a number of good places to eat. Plus parking never seems to be a problem. The owners of the place are very friendly and always open to any thoughts, comments, and suggestions we may have. The rooms are also fairly priced & well sized and the whole place is well kept. Plus everyone else who rents there is pretty cool and really adds to the chill vibe! While it's not completely soundproof, it's not that much of a problem and we've still been able to record some good tracks in our studio. All in all, renting at Royal has been a positive experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good place to keep doing what they love to do. Keep the music going! read more

I've been here for a while and I love it. The area is pretty quiet and discrete. You wouldn't know it was a rehearsal lockout. It's 24 hour so anyone can come at anytime if you've got the creative juices. Security cameras are in place and most importantly, the bathrooms are CLEAN. There's even a separate bathroom with a lock for us females! Everyone is so friendly at the place and it feels like a small community of great musicians. i really dig this place. rooms are all within the same, decent size (nothing really big). prices are adequate. not too lively, but i kinda like that about it. i don't have to worry about hipster invasion. most musicians I've dealt with here are cool and courteous, as is the owner. biggest problem is probably the parking lot. can be a bitch in the daytime. if you wind up parking in the mini mart's space the owner will call a tow truck... read more

Nice vibe in here, the neighborhood is very convenient as well. Plenty of parking at night. There is sound bleed but it's good for rehearsing with a band. Max does an awesome job of keeping the place up and making sure tenants are happy, he is very chill and pleasant to work with. read more

I agree with the other reviews... the bathrooms are actually clean! The owners are very cool and down to earth. They don't treat you like you're under kindergarten rules or renting a crack den. The rooms are cheaper than any other I've seen and the location is great with USC (and USC food and bars) just a couple of blocks away and theres plenty of parking. read more

Royal Rehearsal has been absolutely great to us. The owner, Max has been super friendly and professional, and the practice space is great. When we needed to switch to a different space due to noise he was very understanding and accommodating. We'd definitely recommend this place to any future guests. read more

I rented from Royal Rehearsal for 1 and a half years, and it was the best place I've used, hands down. Very safe and secure, cool look about it, and best yet - CLEAN BATHROOMS! (if you've rented from a few places, you'll know how rare this is). Our room was big enough to comfortably hold practices with 7-8 people in our room. Great spot for 24 hour access. Rooms are in good shape, air conditioning for the summer, and management is super responsive. The building is secure and nondescript. For the price these are really great rooms right in the middle of LA. There is sound bleed like a previous post said, but that is the same for every LA rehearsal studio. Parking is best at night, but that's expected since this is right in the middle of the city. For the price this place is great. Bring your amps or subwoofer and make it happen. read more
