My dentist was Dr. Prakash Bhula and Nikki was his assistant. I already had a crown on the tooth that was aching, but no root canal. And, I had went back to the place that provided the horrible and aggressive cleaning, and they indicated I would need my tooth extracted-GROSS! I told this info to Dr. Bhula. I also let him know that I have unfortunately a lazy, almost-lock jaw. Knowing this, he moved quickly. He was able to locate all three canals after drilling through my crown. He drilled one all the way to the root, another halfway, and the 3rd partially-but far enough to inject antibiotic into the canals. Because I can only open my mouth a small amount when in the dentist chair, Dr. Bhula was unable to drill the remaining two completely, and referred me to a specialist. Although I still have more work to be done, I am very satisfied on what Dr. Bhula could accomplish. I'm a problem patient and he couldn't have tried harder and been nicer about it all. I would recommend anyone to see this man for any teeth issues. He's quick, efficient, and amazingly very skilled even with numbing me up! :) Thank you, Dr. Bhula! Cheers!

I was talked to pretty harshly and condescending regarding my teeth brushing and flossing skills. I'm all for learning to perform better, but not when someone is being rude about it. Returned days after due to excruciating tooth pain afterwards, and they said I pretty much had no choice but to extract my tooth. This day and age, and given how old I am, I thought that sounded pretty prehistoric. I went somewhere else and received a second opinion, who thought that procedure was outrageous and provided other options. Thumbs down

So I ring them up and do what she says, the appointment is all set, I turn up and I am quickly attended to, the dentist comes in and I have no idea if he is Mayank or not but he is very good, very gentle. He gives my teeth a check and amazingly says I only need a couple of small fillings, don't dentists always say you need about 50 of them. Anyway in 20 minutes I'm finished, no anaesthetic needed, I'm a brave girl. And when I go and pay, I ask the receptionist, was that Mayank, Yes it was Mayank, Oh thank god or my neighbour would have told me off I'm sure. Oh and very reasonable price too. If you need a dentist do come here, I think he also has a practice in Mairangi Bay.

The Dentist (or the DentalMan) is friendly enough and the staff are all very nice as you drool all over a pillow and they stare into your mouth. I try not to go to the dentists very often, but I just went for a check up and enjoyed my stay. They are quite pricy - I paid 380 for a check up , clean and getting two fillings put in - but I have no idea what a usual dentist price is. And lets face it, they can charge what they want really.

I had a bad wisdom tooth which had been painful on and off for a long time. I went to a Dentist in the UK, they took an X Ray of it and said there was no way they could take it out. So I was a little sceptical whether this chap could sort it but he looked at it, took an X Ray and said he could remove it. I was expecting to go through a bit of pain with this procedure but it turned out fine. He extracted it and I could feel it coming out - it was big and there was some blood. But his nurse cleaned it up and sent me on my way. Overall, I thought this a professional service and had complete trust in him. He and the nurse were very friendly to me too and put me at ease. Fortunately, I have had no trouble with my teeth since then but if I do, I'll be back to him.

For the most part people don't like going to the dentist and probably because of the association of the two words, dentist and pain. At the very least if you're going to be experiencing pain you'll have nice surroundings here. The first time I came was for whitening. I am fortunate to not have any fillings or holes and had been wanting to give whitening a go. Unfortunately I was one of those people who experienced sensitivity and the treatment was painful (add to that the fact I had to watch the movie Boy one and a half times). My teeth did go a few shades lighter and the service I received was very professional and friendly. The great thing about Ponsonby Dentist is that they will give you a 20% discount if you book and pay online. I would say the television screens were a bonus too but that really depends what is playing.
